Looking over the sketches this month, I don't remember why I drew Zelda going apeshit...
I've been spending the past day pretending Tears of the Kingdom is a Legend of Korra game thanks to this one outfit.
I've heard practically every reason for why the internet comic fans don't believe Cassandra Cain should be Batman after Bruce, but the one (technically two but they tend to go hand in hand) that upsets me the most is when ppl say she isn't smart enough/a good enough detective. It's why so many say she has to be paired with Tim cause he can do the thinking and she can do the fighting.
I know why ppl think this, and recent comics that use her have not done nearly enough to showcase her intelligence. But it isn't hard to find out that she is a smart woman.
It really upsets me. Everyone else can be part of the upper tiers in intelligence and fighting skills, but Cass can't? Come on y'all.
What bothers me the most about that excuse is that That’s The Fun. Half the fun of stuff like Batman Beyond is always seeing a dude who's NOT perfectly formed as Batman becoming Batman. The fun of seeing a Cass as Batman run is exactly the same.
Not to mention how it immediately deals with the other basic bitch complain people have about Cass, all the moaning about how she’s totally invincible and can beat anyone and can never be challenged. Which is why Cass having to do detective work is interesting, because suddenly it is a fucking challenge.
The fun of a Cass as Batman run is seeing someone who is absolutely flawless at the most surface parts of being Batman (punching, kicking, stealthing) having to learn how to deal with the deeper, more complicated parts of being Batman. It’s about someone pushing themselves to be better, taking themselves out of their comfort zone and putting in the work to become something more than they already are.

Look at her!
And look at this cool in panel stuff
I know cool looking characters are made and wasted all the time, but my girl isn't even invited to the DC Asian characters club when DC does their yearly "Oh hey we have Asian characters" push. Such a waste
Hey tumblr folks, if you don't know already or forgot I work on a webcomic which we support through patreon. If you'd like to get access to a lot of behind the scenes commentary on Cassiopeia Quinn or if you'd just like to check out the YEARS worth of monthly pinups you can get all of that and more at

Anyone wanna tell me they love me before I descend into my sad and lonely hours
Latest silly fic idea: Cass gets the flu right before she and Shiva arranged to meet up and fight. Dick and Tim are the only two around who are free and they're like oh shit. Oh fuck. Deadliest fighter in the world is coming to Gotham and the only one who can handle her boredom is sleeping off a fever.
So they try and step up and fight her instead and it lasts for approximately 10 seconds before a strategic retreat becomes the only option. Cue 8 hours of Dick and Tim brotherly bonding as they run for their lives around the city with Shiva hunting them because its a slow day and she's kind of still hoping Cass will show up and fight her instead. Dick tries to hold her off when she gets too close to hurting Tim and we get Batman and Robin Eternal Dick getting curbstomped part 2: mom edition. Tim starts coming up with ridiculous Wile E. Coyote style plans to stop her and Dick is just. So tired. Why did he agree to come home for the weekend. Why does Bludhaven seem like the superior option at the moment. Where are the titans when you need them. Why did he even sign up for this in the first-oh shit Tim DUCK there's no time to drop a piano on her!
Duke wakes up for the morning shift, sees Dick and Tim stumble in bruised and battered, and promptly decides he's going to spend this patrol practicing his invisibility skills.
Simply the best: Tina Turner, newspaper comic heroine!
Tina Turner, who passed yesterday aged 83, isn’t just remembered for her music, or her many film appearances. She’s also remembered, here at downthetubes at least, for her role in a “Garth” story in the Daily Mirror, orchestrated by the strip’s writer at the time, Tim Quinn. Back in the early 1990s, Tim – perhaps best known for his work at Marvel Comics on both sides of the Atlantic, and his…

you ever think of how 2000ad, dark horse and valiant are owned by game companies? i also wonder how popular turok is compared to the likes of dredd or hellboy
Outside of the UK, I'd say it goes Hellboy, Dredd and then Turok, at least right now. Hellboy is always there, Dredd got a nice big boost that's cooled down now but lingers, and Turok sadly is kinda mostly dead.
As for the game company thing, I think it speaks to how fucking huge videogames have gotten. It still blows my mind a little, for example, that Sniper Elite, a videogame series that's kinda niche and not a massive seller by most standards, still makes a bunch more money than a lot of comics. It makes sense once you get into the nitty-gritty of it, like distribution models and rights issues and who owns who and all that, but it's still weird.
However, I also think it's... kinda cool? It feels like an interesting evolution of the great fear of all media, that the new media will kill the old. But here it's like the new media absorbs the old and helps it stay afloat without trying too hard to change it. Rebellion in particular is really interesting because of how they ended up with the 2000AD license and because they were smart enough to go looking for people with editorial knowledge to run the thing rather than go "Fuck it, how hard can it be?" And now this videogame company has become the steward of an entire chunk of British comics, not just 2000AD.
It's not all sunshine and roses, and Rebellion still stumble on a bunch of things, but I dunno, man. Every time I hear about movie companies buying comic companies in order to mine them for "content" and IP shit and changing stuff for the sake of "synergy", I look at Rebellion pretty much saving 2000AD from death and allowing it to exist as its own thing and think... yeah, things could be worse.
