Silly little Dottolone fic ideas

(Dottore/Pantalone) idk I was really sick and am finally getting brain function back pls enjoy

Feel free to write them, please let me know if you do!!! I don’t have a lot of time to write full fics atm so this is all you get! Some of them are sad, it is what it is. (This is my therapy)

Little!Pantalone (Fluff or die, de-aged pantalone, platonic!caretaker!Dottore, he might hate it but that’s not for me to decide)

Pantalone goes looking for Dottore in his lab for a vial of medicine. He’s colorblind and drinks the wrong color medicine. He finds himself his younger self and is going through it TM while trying to hide from his coworker, unwilling to be vulnerable. When Dottore finally finds him, he sees it as an opportunity to give him a piece of the childhood Lone never had. Bonus points if there is a time limit to stabilize his emotions or he won’t be able to return to normal. Someone please write this, I need this more than I need oxygen.

And they were parents

Established relationship, they are secretly dating, nobody else knows. Dottore creates a Pantalone segment to (F the canon I just want them to raise a kid), surprises the banker with it. It doesn’t go as well as Dottore expected. Pantalone has a whole breakdown about the way Dottore could perceive him knowing his segment is an exact snapshot of him earlier in his life. Dottore thinks he made a mistake and almost eliminates the segment, but they reconcile last minute.

Undercover/Under covers

Mutual pining, but they are idiots, going undercover on a mission in Liyue. Lone shows Dottore around places pretending he had fond memories of them. The mask eventually comes off when someone recognizes him as the boy he once was. Dottore secretly takes care of it. Even better if they share a bed, pretending they are bothered by it, but end up sleeping together (winkwink) instead of sleeping together.

Broken glasses

Regrator drops his glasses and instead of fixing them, Dottore uses it as a chance to give his love interest a forced break from work. He really cares, I promise!!! He even intercepts deliveries to make sure he can dote over Lone, feed him, pretend he doesn’t understand how to balance a ledger, so they won’t be done for now, help him get dressed and guide him around with an arm around him. (Lone is touch starved so this is a great experience, even if he would never admit it)

Some of the critiques people make about Hanya strike me mostly as misogynistic jabs founded on a basis of not taking her seriously as an author because she’s a woman who writes about men. The above is just a concise example of something I’ve seen time and again, so I’m using it to illustrate a point.

There have been many books published where men have sex with each other and those predate Ao3 because there is a world outside of the internet. Like, novels. Novellas. Serious writing. Gay men have sex with each other–that isn’t something women made up to write fanfiction about it. That’s real.

I don’t know how to say this, but Hanya Yanagihara is the editor in chief of T Magazine, which focuses on fashion, culture, and art. She actually interacts with and is friends with gay men, and knows more about the lived lives of gay men than any perpetually online poster critiquing her for writing men with more depth than a standard Netflix Original character. I just know with absolute certainty that if she had written about women suffering, no one would argue that it wasn’t “believable”.

A Little Life is a lot of things, but it is not a novel written without research. It is not thoughtless. You might find it disturbing, and the world it describes may be totally foreign to you, but serious literary critique cannot take place without a firm dedication to taking the work seriously.

At last I spread the second part, in which it is awfully a shame to Mairon with the failure, and he well can’t accept forgiveness from Melkor in any way.
