hello! i followed you back in 2013 ish and just rediscovered your blog through the tumblr artists feature thing. really cool to see what you're working on these days :3
I appreciate you, anon! Sometimes being on tumblr feels like a ten-years-later reunion and it's fun to see what the people you followed before are up to now. I'd love to see the folks I follow do a Then / Now!
Out of interest, I went to see what exactly I was posting in 2013. I was using Tumblr so regularly back then that I essentially have a time capsule of that period of my life. I was in the later half of my art school experience, organizing the first Ladies of Literature zine, deep into PJO and other YA books, and drawing stuff like...
Ten years later, it's super heartwarming to see that the things I was obsessed with drawing back then--cute outfits, expressive characters, and stories--evolved into my current career. 😭 Here's some recent work I did for Lois Lane.
Looking back at the original Ladies of Literature zine, the artist line up was stacked with currently working artists who were, at the time, just at the start of their careers. You'll even see an early iteration of Persephone by Rachel Smythe in there. This is why I'll always hold affection for Tumblr -- it inspired so many of us to draw, share, and meet with other artists. I'm grateful for the folks who made up the first audiences for my art. 💖✨🙏🏽
