“That’s just something ugly people say to make them feel good about themselves”

Had a climate change denier in my replies today. I’d advise against outing yourself as a moron if you don’t really have to.

When the earth is flat, there’s no plausible reason to believe the climate causes destruction and death

Some good news still exists out there.

SISYPHUS WRAPPED:

You rolled that boulder up that hill 3829 times!

You reached the topmost quarter of the hill 427 times! That’s 0.53% better than last year!

You said “ouch” as the boulder rolled over your toes 611 times! Best get those toes looked at when you take a break!

You are 0% closer to escaping Hades!

I'm trying to find a poem I read a long time ago in an old mass market paperback collection. It was about a man plotting revenge against his worst enemy. He was excited, ecstatic, going into extreme detail about all the horrific things he was going to do to that guy. "I'm gonna kidnap him and burn his house down and salt the earth and lock him in a dark hole, and then I'm gonna get mean!" It was a comical manifesto of violence, going on and on for verse after verse about the different weapons he would use and how long he would draw it out, relishing in the indescribable fear his enemy will soon be feeling. Near the end, the narrator reflects on what is was that his enemy did to him to warrant such passionate retribution, and he realizes he can't even remember. It must have been pretty bad. Surely he must deserve it. Whatever it was, the narrator is downright giddy to get back to planning. He may not ever go through with it, but it's clear he gets off just by thinking about it.

Does this ring a bell to anyone? I can't find it anywhere. I don't think it was Shel Silverstein, but it feels in his orbit.
