just finished tsukuritai onna to tabetai onna and it's the best thing ever... like. it's a show. where a woman cooks as a hobby and resents how everyone is telling her she'll make a good wife or mother because of her cooking skills. and she meets a LARGE WOMAN (although by my standards this is like the most normal size you could possibly be but ig she's meant to be large) and starts cooking giant portions of food for her and is totally completely delighted overjoyed ecstatic that this large woman is eating everything she makes. like an act of a physically big woman eating a lot is presented as THE BEST THING EVER... this means so much to me you have no idea. kasuga hates the idea of eating any less than she wants to and nomoto is extreme happy to have kasuga eat a whole ton. like WHERE ELSE? and obv there's a lot more meaning in any meal in the show, whether it's kasuga's childhood memories of getting less than her father and brother and having to sneakily make self-indulgent meals to finally satisfy herself (once again i reiterate her desires are depicted as entirely positive) or them eating ice cream they wouldn't normally go for or nomoto getting to cook things she deems too indulgent for herself alone... also obv love how nomoto easily accepted she's a lesbian and how her coworker was super normal about nomoto liking a woman but at the same time nomoto's alienation from her heterosexual peers and the societal expectations were also highlighted. so it's not that there is no homophobia or fatphobia in the world of the show, it's rather than kasuga and nomoto are each other's safe space and they act as a safe space for the audience too, so while it's very wholesome it's also real. this show!!
