HEY EVERYONE :)
So in the interests of ‘following my bliss’ or whatever I chose to give up my first good job in years, all my friends and my social life and move back in with my parents, you know, like a failure, in order to write a new novel for my literary agent.
Unfortunately because it has LESBIANS in it - lesbian WITCHES at that, it is apparently not worth showing to publishers.
What a great time to be a dyke-writer.
Anyhoo, if you like LESBIANS, WITCHES and CRIME NOVELS, you can enjoy my novel ‘Dead to Rites’ on Kindle for 99p. This will help me to drown my sorrows in reasonably priced coffee until I can write a novel that isn’t just so DAMN GAY.
P.S. I also have a podcast about witches in fiction (that’s games, books, tv, films etc) and you can listen to that FOR FREE on Castbox or Youtube. It’s called ‘Witchfix’ and there are episodes already up for you to enjoy.
Feminist Civil War Fiction with LGBT characters? - Oooh Yeah
Hello!
So, some of you might have read my lesbian western romance ‘Night Fires in the Distance’. That has since spawned a novella and a new follow up novel, titled ‘One Nation Afire’ - this follows the adventures of Rachel, hot tempered ace woman posing as a Union soldier. Utsehta, a half-Osage ten year old caught up in the Confederate army. And Laura and Cecelia, the lesbian couple from the first book, living in Confederate occupied territory.
It’s feminist, it’s action packed, it looks at race, sexuality and war - and it’s less that £4 on Amazon! I encourage you to go check out all three books in the series - Night Fires in the Distance, Smoke Through the Pines and this new instalment.
Caught in a rather good romance
It sounds like I’m playing a video game and someone is trying to sell me potions. :D
…that is exactly what it sounds like
This song is so much more close to me now.
things that scare me: white boys walking behind me when it’s dark outside
things that do not scare me: women and men wearing any head cover or special clothing that corresponds to their religion
Citizens shouldn’t be treated like enemies of the state, on behalf of corporations.

The problem with listening to modern, mens country music. Is that there are instances where you’re just like....you have no idea what being a woman is like. You sing A LOT about girls, but you don’t seem to have thought about how some of those girls would hear your song. Or what you’re saying even MEANS.
This song for example, sounds really good, but the lyrics:
I just wanna turn in early I don't want to see where this goes You're getting just a little too flirty You're getting just a little too close
Said nobody Said nobody, ever Said nobody Said nobody, ever
Don't come any closer Don't give me a kiss 'Cause I don't wanna taste your lips Said nobody Said nobody, ever
.....pretty sure there are women, not even a small number, who’ve said these exact things, to men, and been ignored.
I get it, it’s a good time song...but I can’t listen to it without thinking about this, and to me that says that, this song is not for women, it’s just about them.
Pastor mentioned you’re a computer at NASA. That’s pretty heady stuff. They let women handle that sort of thing?
*Writing novel with 4 protagonists, 2 of whom are lesbians*
Lalalalallalalalalalla....
*Third protagonist is surprise asexual*
*Squints* Huh. That explains it.
LALALALLALALLlalallalalalalla......
Have you ever had those moments of reading multiple fics at once then getting confused about events that have happened or haven’t happened and it takes you a while to align the universe?
Do you ever have that moment when you’re trying to remember if the really good story you read was fanfic or independently published m/m fiction? So you end up frantically checking your goodreads page and your AO3 faves trying to find clues?
Reeeeeeesearching
Found the front page quote for the start of my civil war novel -
“I am not, nor have I ever been in favour of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races. … I as much as any other man am in favour of having the superior position assigned to the white race.”
– Abraham Lincoln, Fourth Joint Debate at Charleston, September 18, 1858
