Twin Flames

Summary:

Phthia is the land of hail and snow, and this is what they all know, but on Mount Pelion it's always spring. It's like Achilles belongs there. 'The Flame of the North' they call him, for his fire-gold hair; once he goes, Patroclus thinks, all things swift and beautiful and bright will be gone with him.
Perhaps, in another life, if Patroclus fell to his knees and begged, Achilles would take pity on him and stay or ask him to come with him. But this is not this life. In this life, Patroclus hasn't the power to change... anything.

Or: Achilles is the young Prince of Phthia, Patroclus is his squire, in a story where they come together, come apart, then find each other all over again.

That one fic that’s so out of character that it makes you hate your favorite character

bonus round the entire rest of the fandom loves it

then it creates persistent and widespread fanon that influences how the whole fandom sees the character, in direct contradiction of both canon and your preferred interpretation!

my tumblr dashboard hasn't gotten the updated UI yet so hearing more and more people I follow gradually post about the nightmare they're currently living just feels like I'm in the first fifteen minutes of a horror series where Troubling News Stories are starting to crop up on the radio and on blurry background TV sets

“You write poems with your fingertips

And I keep listening to the songs written on my skin

By some distant dream, similar words

But the verses never meet...”
