I have a theory that the characters in Sonic Boom are not that much taller than their Modern counterparts and I can provide proof too. I just need a little time to put it all together…
Okay the “little time” was actually three days, but here we go.
Note 1: these are not meant to be accurate measurements, just a demonstration. (Also it is near impossible to find screenshots where all characters are standing exactly next to each other, in a straight line, at the same elevation, standing straight up, in a full-body shot from an eye level. So I just couldn’t bother.)
Note 2: These measurements are based on the assumption that Boom!Eggman is the same height as Modern!Eggman (185 cm).
So this theory sparked with looking at how even in this universe, Sonic is still only reaches up to about Eggman’s waist, just like in the modern games. In that case, if Eggman is 185 cm tall, we can draw up a little chart to compare Sonic’s height to him:
This would put Sonic at 110 cm (3′7″) (figuring out where the top of his head was hard, but his top spine definitely goes over that). Now from this, I could try to measure the other members of the Team.
This was the best screenshot I could find (and I still had to do some quick cutting so that their feet are on the came line), and I’m not even sure if this is accurate, but on this measuring, Tails is ~84 cm (2′9″), Amy is 100 cm (3′3″), Sticks is 102 cm (3′4″) and Knuckles is ~139 cm (4′6″).
There are some inaccuracies, I’m sure. For example, Sticks sometimes appear to be slightly shorter or taller than Amy, and I really can’t decide what would be the more accurate.
There is also another screenshot that somewhat works, but it provides really different measurements compared to Sonic:

According to this, Tails is 91 cm (2′11″) , Amy is 103 cm (3′4″), Sticks is 101 cm (3′3″) and Knuckles is 126 cm (4′1″).
Is this accurate? Haha, nope. But my main point was just to prove that they aren’t that much taller than their Modern counterparts anyway (except for Knux of course), so it works.
But wait, doesn’t Sticks have a canonical height??
That is true! According to her Sonic Channel page, Sticks is 85 cm (2′8″) tall, putting her halfway between Modern Tails and Modern Amy. However, that doesn’t really add up for me, since she’s not that visibly shorter than Boom!Amy, and also, if I used that as my basis, the other characters would be actually shorter than their Modern selves.
In conclusion: idk, they’re still the size of a small child.

Lancelot quelled the yearning in his chest, leaning back against the wall, eyes following the spinning couple moving to the romantic tune that wafted through the air like a breeze.

What kind of relationship does Shadow have with his kids, like is he is overprotective like Sonic is of Aurora or is he quite disciplinary teaching his kids moral values and combat abilities? Does he does love all his kids equally and likes to spoil them?😏

Shadow’s definitely not an overprotective dad, especially because he has SUPER children so they can handle themselves lol. Shadow’s parenting style borders on militaristic. The Ultimates have a lot of responsibility with their powers so it’s important that the kids understand that from an early age. So there’s a lot of physical training involved and like you mentioned, lessons in morality, and lessons about mercy and compassion. He and Aurora work together to make sure the kids have equal amounts of structure and fun.
But he also absolutely adores his kids and loves being a father. He’s more reserved than Aurora so he’s not as intensely affectionate as she is with them, but when they’re little he likes to carry them all around by having them crawl all over him lol (think of how possums have their babies hanging all over them)
And he regularly tells them he’s proud of them.
Shadow was initially nervous about having kids because most of his life he’s had an internal battle with himself (“Am I a weapon? Am I more than that?”). But it turns out he was made to be a dad.
