Either you're frolicking in this field with me or you're frolicking in this field against me.
adults of tumblr how on earth do you decide on what mattress you want to order
Go to the store.
Go to the store and lie on it for five minutes.
I know online is cheaper, but go to the store. Online delivery has a send back guarantee, but do you really know yourself capable of and willing to dismantle your bedroom because it didn't work out? No? GO TO THE STORE.
Go to the store and try it out and compare prices and nine out of ten times, they will match the online prices for you, because you're THERE and they can't afford to let you walk out empty handed.
Try it out, figure out the right hardness for you. Make sure you're comfortable.
A good mattress will last you 20-30 years depending on how often you move and how well you commit to taking care of it: vacuum it regularly and flip as per instructions, usually once every six months.
A bad mattress costs about the same as a good mattress, up front, except for the fact it will fuck you up for years and you might end up with chronic pain because of it.
Go to the store. Try it out.
I got a 46% discount and 18 interest free installment payment on mine, just cause I was physically there.
Figure out your budget. Go to the store. Ask to try it out. Make sure it feels good.
You deserve a good mattress and you deserve the money you spend to be worthwhile.
You've got this.
Also a lot of those trendy online-only delivery mattresses are not quality controlled, multiple people have discovered their mattress was stuffed with fiber glass only after it ripped and spewed sharp fibers over literally all of their belongings
any mattress that’s designed to be rolled up into a box for shipping, will not last long or give you good support. I know a lot of people swear by foam but spring mattresses are great. all you’ll get in the shipped mattresses are foam and fiberglass (which is needed as an extra flame retardant because the foam is extra flammable)
We couldn't go to a store during lockdown, but our mattress was 10 years old and had permanent imprints of our body. We moved often, hence the short life. We went with a Dream Cloud mattress because it has no fiberglass and it combines spring and foam. It's now three years old and absolute trash. My husband can no longer sleep on it, I'm constantly changing where I'm sleeping, and we must replace it. Unfortunately, we have exactly no money to do so.
We're going with a wool and cotton futon mattress because that's the onky type that makes his back and shoulder pain disappear. I'll get a squishy layer thing that goes on top of mattresses. Growing up, I used one because it was old school spring mattresses, and I used the same mattress for 15 years.
Small tip to adults who have sex: foam mattresses make it extra work because they absorb all motion. Spring mattress provide extra bounce whereas futon is a balance between the two.

So I think the best strat here is for the users who did get the new layout to just stop using the desktop version of the site for a while, like a week or a month or however long their 'experiment' is supposed to last, while the users who didn't get the new layout should keep using the desktop version like normal or, perhaps, use it even more than usual.
My guess is that they're doing basic A/B testing on the new layout to see if it would boost engagement: the userbase is split roughly 50/50 between the 2 versions and they are going to be comparing the engagement data between the 2 groups of users to see if it's worth it switching everyone to the new layout or not.
Basically, if you got the new layout and don't like it - don't use it. If engagement metrics of group B (new layout) are lower than those of group A (no change), the experiment will be considered a failure and they will have to reverse the change.
If your tumblr suddenly looks like twitter - it's a sign to log off and go touch some grass! (or just use the mobile app since that engagement data isn't relevant to this particular experiment)
Don't just not use it, send feedback too!
There's a "contact us" option to send feedback about features being launched. GIVE FEEDBACK IN THE APPROPRIATE SPACE!
Not to "As a professional UX researcher" on this thread, but yeah, as a professional UX researcher, now is the exact time to provide clear (but kind!! the poor UX team is usually not responsible for these decisions) feedback on what your thoughts are in regards to this change.
In my job, if I were doing an AB test on a site layout and every person I interviewed said "I hate it, it looks like knockoff twitter, please put the old one back" then I would be very excited to include a nice little bullet point in my report that says "[x] number of participants disliked the new layout :)"
an incomplete collection of tweets i consider to be short poems
i have some too
seeing a woman without armpit hair is like seeing an angel without wings
I've been playing a lot of RimWorld lately. Here's the custom race for my next playthrough: very social and hospitable slug people that make cute little taverns and hotels for people to stay in. These slugs need large quantities of sugar to live and are very good at cooking
I'm never entirely pleased with my style, so here I go reworking bug anatomy again. This time to make it more realistic. Greet the soft segmented belly
In case you wonder what my bug people are like to the touch, here's a chart with a fly as an example
1. The stomach is soft and squishy to the touch, it is covered by elastic chitin like caterpillar skin.
2. The dark parts are plates of hard armor that can be velvety to the touch as it is covered with tiny hairs.
3. Neck fluff is thin yet dense, making it very soft, like chinchilla fur.
4. These large hairs are hard and thick, in some individuals Thay can become full on spikes.
5. The wings are not paper thin, the membrane had some thickness. While they are very flexible they are also hard to break. Hemolymph flow makes them stiffer to allow flight, but they can get soft and limp if not stretched properly. The base of the wings is the warmest part of the body, since the muscles there produce the most heat.
6. The fingers have small hooks on the tips. They can be pretty scratchy if not filed down.
7. The antennae can be either smooth or visibly fluffy.
8. The toes are scratchier and fluffier than the arms and hands to provide better grip on the floor. Toetips also get little "claws".
Heading home from the fields
A typical butterfly farmer's attire typically doesn't have a top. It's not like insects have anything to hide on their chest and it removes the hassle of fitting the clothes around their wings.
Poofy underskirts don't have a practical reason, country girls just want to be pretty too.
That wonderful home cooking! #vintage #cottagecore #supertaster #aesthetic #momcore
What did I do to deserve a fate such as this.
girl it was already blazed....naught but embers
The most beautiful footage of strangers dancing in public… https://twitter.com/Thorayaaa/status/1660180658646568967
its like a real life version of that children’s song with the magic bridge that you had to dance across
Highlights: --all the old people --one dude who starts doing the Cotton-Eye Joe and has the steps on lock --quinceañera girl with a dress bigger than the circle --lots of kids but particularly the dude who's doing the helicopter with his little girl --an entire section of Millennials doing dance moves I recognize, oh the nostalgia

Disability Pride month let's not forget about the people in our community with intellectual disabilities!
I just found out about the Stay Up Late campaign to advocate for people with intellectual disabilities to have the right to go out in the evening and not have to be in bed by 8pm
I learned about it from this video:
And I found the website for the campaign which is here:
Let's support all members of our community
