The warm rays of the setting sun weren't warm enough, so Draco draped a blanket over Hermione's shoulders. She looked somewhere in front of her, to where, behind the green crowns of trees, the azure waters of Lake Garda sparkled. The golden light tangled in her hair, moved across her slightly tanned skin, and glittered in her eyes that seemed amber.
Malfoy froze for a second and then sat down beside her. In between them, there was a silence, as they watched the sky turn into burgundy and mauve colours. Barolo Canti with berry-fruity overtones warmed from inside out.
Draco kissed Hermione in the temple and closed his eyes, not noticing the smile that graced her lips.
For the first time, he had everything he so desperately wanted.
