if you say "as one does" after any phrase nobody's allowed to think you're weird anymore. cheat code bypass for all standards of social normalcy
i was gonna add something like "so i was *extremely violent/grotesque/unusual thing*, as one does" and then i stopped because i realized the george costanza nature of this post.
"it's like an instant bypass, jerry. nobody can say you're strange anymore when you pull that bad boy out"
"an instant bypass."
"yes. and i use it to escape social accountability. as one does."
ilove people who work at front desks of things. i can walk into a building and go to the desk and i ask how do i do this thing. and then they just fucking tell me !!!!
i walked into my college found the first desk and asked hey where do i pay my student fees. did that. ok where i do find the academic advisor? got the general direction, went up to the first desk i saw, asked where to go to drop a class .awesome. went to the bookstore, walked up to the desk, asked how to find out what textbooks i need. and AGAIN they had answers for me. this is so cool thank you desk people
no this is so real actually !! it always feels like you'll be expected to know everything when you do Adult Things but you don't, actually, you just need to know who to ask
some of you guys view misogyny as simply men being mean to women and not a systemic hierarchical issue that prevents women from gaining liberation, support systems or a socioeconomic foothold and it shows every time you talk about βmisandryβ
having fun

The circle is comprised of a puppy, a cat, a bird, a small shark with legs and a rabbit. They all look content doing their own thing and are enjoying each others company. The words "paralell play :3" are written above them.
Reddit makes dumb decision -> I finally decide to check out Tumblr -> meet cool people on the 196 tag and become mutuals -> I discover one of them lives in Aus too -> I fly like 1000km and we fuck and cuddle
Person leaves reddit. Immediately loose virginity. More at 6.
A surprisingly helpful bit of social maneuvering I've figured out from trial and error: Throughout your life, you are going to need things from people. Often, it's going to be on a deadline. And when that deadline passes, you generally want to know what's going on. So, you need to ask them.
There are two kinds of people, broadly, in this situation. The Shameless will tell you what the holdup is, with absolutely no regard for if the reason is "good enough". This is actually very helpful, because you get the real reason immediately, and can start working on a solution.
The Ashamed is trickier. People who are Ashamed are people who were often told they were giving excuses when they were trying to explain, and they'll often avoid you until they solve the problem on their own. This causes them and you a lot of stress, and often takes a lot longer to solve.
Long term, the strategy for dealing with people who are Ashamed is to provide a supportive environment where they're comfortable sharing any problems they're having with getting things done. But, there's a way to at least partially short-circuit that:
Provide an explanation for them.
One example might be "Hey Susan, I noticed that I don't have your report yet. Are you busy with other projects?" The readymade explanation signals that you're willing to accept an explanation, which is the big anxiety point.
Sometimes, you still won't get an honest answer- especially if the honest answer isn't "good enough" by the standards of the person who traumatized them. But, I've found that it often at least gets you a lie that lets you give them some slack or work around the problem.
Let's say that Susan has actually completely forgotten that she needed to do the report. She's horrified at herself, and completely unwilling to admit the real problem. But, she can now safely reply with "Sorry Jennifer, I've been swamped, and it got lost in the mix. I can have it to you in two days. Does that work?"
From there, so long as Susan gave an estimate for when she can actually do it, she and Jennifer can hash out a solution.
It's not a perfect solution, but it works astonishingly well for how small of a change it is.

Me bc i never forgot abt this show bc i thought i saw a real kid actually being hit by a train as a kid and i was so shocked the show never left my head. Forgotten by most, but it lives within me almost everyday
Off topic but interesting little fact:
This show ran for 20 episode and the last 9-11 or so are lost media. CN did their best to wipe it off the face of the earth. Some episodes are only available in various languages but not in English. And like I said others aren't available at all as far as anyone knows.
Out of Jimmy's Head. It was a series following a cartoon network tv movie called Re-Animated. It existed during the CN live action era.
And this is the scene im referencing too. Yes, the actual thing is this choppy, the gif did not fuck up.
Am chronically ill, can confirm. More than 90% of the time, I know more about my conditions than any doctor I have to encounter, and it is HARD to get a doctor to understand that I have to be an expert because it's something I live with ALL THE TIME.
And that's the other thing, even if the average doctor was willing to do the in-depth investigation thing, there frequently isn't a fix, just a "these meds might help with some of the effects, and as for the rest, I guess it sucks to be you".
I'm very tired of this "queer college students should stop supporting Palestine, they'd kill you there!" I watched a hijabi ask a trans man, "but what name do you want to go by?" A butch giving a woman their hoodie so that she could keep her hair covered after the cops took her scarf. Muslim girls making sure the lesbian couple got through the system together. Religious men making sure green haired protestors got out safe. A Palestinian girl with an ex-southern baptist fiance, who definitely isn't a practicing Muslim, whose parents were raising hell for her. I don't want to hear it. Solidarity forever, free Palestine.
Queer muslim here. I couldn't have said it better myself. We are not free until all of us are free.

enough reclaiming slurs, I think in 2023 we should reclaim nascar. they banned the confederate flag on all properties & their stance on lgbtq+ isnβt just performative bc in 2013 they fined a driver 10k for using a homophobic slur, condemned indiana in a statement for an anti lgbt law, and partnered w carolinaβs lgbt+ chamber of conference in 2022. nascar was founded by anti-cop moonshiners/bootleggers who drove suped-up fords to out-run the police. #yaaascar
To this day, my favorite argument I ever had was with my Nascar-loving family about how a thin blue line flag on a Nascar is antithetical to the core tenets of Nascar. There is no organization more rooted in ACAB than Nascar. Literally, the only reason it exists was that a bunch of moonshining families had to build cars that could outrun the cops while on supply runs during the Prohibition Era. The goal was to make the car look like a regular vehicle so they could pick up supplies or drop off illegal alcohol without arousing suspicion. But if the cops were on you all you had to do was put the pedal to the metal and that little truck could outrun them with no problems. And of course, families would be in competition over who made the best alcohol, and whose car was fastest. So, they would have races on the weekends. When prohibition was lifted, the races continued. And that is why we have Nascar. It really frustrates me how people look at American car culture and scoff at it. Formula One racing is more exciting and more dynamic to watch, but the history of it is not as interesting: a bunch of rich assholes who made specialized cars for racing. And to this day, it is still a rich man's sport. Whereas Nascar was about a bunch of so-called hicks in the backwoods who used some basic hand tools and trial and error to make a junker into a racecar.
Plants what now
There needs to be more research done into this, and as of now we can't say why the sounds happen but. WHAT.
I knew they could hear noises but apparently they MAKE noises too
Cats knocking over houseplants just got a lot more vindictive
SHUT UPPPP
also some plants can see. as it turns out. Shouldn't be surprising because they are literally covered in light sensitive cells that direct them toward sunlight, but, yeah, some of them have versions of those cells that can see in some fashion or another.
we found this out fairly recently (last 3 or 4 years) because the plant boquila trifoliolata can grow its leaves different shapes to mimmic the plants around it and we thought maybe they did it by touch or something so we did an experiment with no touching and ruled that out, and then we thought maybe it was some kind of pheromone thing or something but in another experiment it copied the leaf shape of a plastic plant, so
anyway plants can see. some only enough to tell where the sunlight is strongest, others... more than that.
Yeah Boquila trifoliolata is the mimic octopus of the plant world.
Examples of Boquila trifoliolata mimicking the leaves of other plants. Yellow arrows point to leaves of Boquila trifoliolata that are mimicking other species in A-G. Image H shows what Boquila trifoliolata leaves look like when theyβre not mimicking other plants. Ernesto Gianoli/Trends in Plant Science
Also it's not just reacting to plant pheremones or something like that... it will mimic plastic plants.
