I have a cursed current fav queer headcanon:
I like to think Johnstantine had a massive crush on Ray Monde when he was young, and is embarrassed about it once he got older. Ray keeps gently turning young Constantine down but still takes care of him on the occasional times Constantine's homeless.
This probably isn't a popular hc but a friend of mine who I'm calling a Constantine Scholar had a similar hc so it counts now!!

Don’t know if you know this, or if it would interest you, but just in case—in the DC Bombshells comic series (a spin-off universe where it’s WW2 and almost all superheroes are women and/or queer), Supergirl and Stargirl are not, for obvious reasons, biological twins, but they are, as near as anyone can tell, the same age, and are basically raised as twins (in this universe, Supergirl was sent to Earth as a baby, and her capsule was found by her adoptive parents on the same day Stargirl was born). They are the most important people in each others’ lives, and even though they sometimes fight, they love each other very much, and almost everything they do is at least partially motivated by that.
oh neat! I'm a fan of whenever Kara has a sister-figure to bounce off of, because otherwise she gets very close to the Martian Manhunter problem of being a loner with no solid cast system! A sibling or close friend does a lot.

yes I finished YJa season 1! Two things:
- ARE U TELLING ME that the be-hated ship that is Conner/M'gann Supermartian handled the nuances of having a secret identity better than the fandom beloved MAWS Clois?? Conner even already knew M'gann was a white martian and wasn't a jerk about it, letting her tell him when she was ready?? Doubly so- Robin/Dick knew Artemis' family ties but also didn't out her or consider her suspicious. Neither he nor Conner were even smug or rude about knowing their secrets unlike MAWS!Jimmy was to Clark. Even in an earlier episode Batman was respectful of that boundary. Just absolutely amazed that they chose to be kind about secret identities considering plot-wise they had more than enough justification to be suspicious and untrusting with the mole plot. Weirdly refreshing considering how some closeted allegories are handled these days.
- the New Years kissing in the finale was soooo awkward and silly I laughed out loud. Absolutely tragic that Red Tornado wasn't getting any of it. The kids should have propped up TornaDAD's disembodied torso, gotten in a line, and consecutively take turns kissing his cheek. If it weren't for him, they would have been dead!! I would've forgiven the shows' sins if this happened. Justice for Red Tornadaddy.
You are so right on YJ’s Superboy’s… wasted potential tbh.
One thing I always felt could have improved/really show his character was giving him and Jaime a sort of mentor/mentee sort of relationship in season 2. The episode where the two of them have their adventure has always been my favorite.
The similarities are there! They’re both without a mentor, both something that they think isn’t really Quite Right (at first anyway) and trying to be and make good anyway and, frankly, both lonely. Jaime coping with being A Weapon is similar to Superboy in season one, or at least I thought so.
Also, NO ONE realizing Jaime was brainwashed… they did him dirty ToT

I've only just finished season 1 of YJa but from what I'm hearing of season 2 (don't worry I don't mind spoilers), I'm not surprised that they're continuing to fail Superboy :'( everywhere I've read or watched Conner-Superboy (including his original comics if I'm honest) feels like wasted potential to be about something compelling. I'm excited to see Jaime though!! I've only known him from the recent live action movie, and really enjoyed him there. I'll keep an eye out on that co-op episode they have.

Hey guys, I have a very worrying update from @haneenatya. Her mother's condition has considerably worsened, and she needs immediate medical care now. She had a stroke and she is bleeding from her eye, the same eye she had a stroke in and had surgery on a while back. She needs another emergency surgery in Egypt but right now she's still stuck in Ghazzah where they can't possibly operate on her due to the overcapacity of the hospitals nearby.
I'm not sure how much time we have left before the damage is permanent. Please spread this fundraiser around, and get people to donate:

THE POTENTIAL OF SURVIVOR TWIN CONSTANTINE
I'm still reading through Hellblazer, but I can't help but feel the themes that crop up about how Constantine keeps losing friends and loved ones, how he struggles with commitment, how he keeps them at a distance feels like twinless twin angst to me! It's chasing an unattainable intimacy that can't ever be replicated, and the eternal grief some Survivor Twins go through- that fits Constantine a little too perfectly. John's themes are guilt? Well great, he's essentially assigned Survivor's Guilt at birth as a twin! He's haunted by the ghosts of people he's wronged or caused to die? Well, some twinless twins go through that too! Famously Elvis Presley was haunted by his lost womb twin, and perhaps talked to him when he was alone. Constantine's early bombastic punk lifestyle and eventual desire to live despite the odds (like in his cancer arc) reminds me of the pianist Liberance saying the death of his womb twin fueled his flamboyant lifestyle and "desire to live for two".
There's a lot of potential angst in contrasting Constantine's will to live and him never getting to reunite with his twin because he keeps cheating death. Maybe he wants his twin's ghost soul to move on from guilt, but Goldie doesn't want to ascend because John is all that he's ever known. Maybe Goldie's the only ghost that doesn't blame John for their death (no one should ever blame a surviving twin for the lost twin's death in my opinion, cough!!), and that in itself makes Constantine feel a unique kind of grief. Surviving identical twins talk about how even looking at the mirror brings them pain- because it's a reminder that your sibling didn't get to grow up the way you did. That bittersweet "you survived but at what cost" feels quintessential to Constantine stories.
Constantine Should Be Sincere Survivor Twin Representation Instead Of Another Tiresome Evil Demon Twin Narrative Blink If You Agree

I initially got inspired by these drawings of Jon by @jesncin the fabric, the patterns, the colors everything about it screamed krypton to me— in their AU Jon is part Indo because their Lois design is indo! Very very cute au you should totally go support them
The base of all Kryptonian clothing is the suit. From there, you can layer shawls, sashes, robes, etc.
