Lots of people wondering why Tony doesn't remember Mary Jane from your Avengers run. My theory is memories from that time were erased after Tony rebooted his brain from Fraction's Iron Man and it has nothing to do with Mephisto and OMD. Am I close? Will there shared history come up at all?
well i think both those events and the mystery of secret wars and the TWO eight months gap surrounding it cover it all pretty good.
So it won't come up (even on MJ's side?) that she was in a long term relationship (4-5 years of marvel time on the sliding scale) with his protege who is now a business rival? Or that they used to live in the same space? The latter I'm more inclined to believe because of the contrivances of OMD, but if I were Tony I'd be suspicious of a new employee who didn't disclose information like that. Anyone that knew him during that time would ask if her hired her because he knew she was capable from that experience.
I know you're not looking to alienate new or casual readers with a decade of backstory but it pushes the boundaries of believability that she wouldn't remember this prior relationship. Should I just forget about the new avengers stories because they no longer happened after Secret Wars?
I know continuity can be a pain when you're trying to write new stories but you did write those stories. I like to think of your books as one long story within the marvel universe. Can we get at least a wink or a nod to that effect?
