Carrot cake is by far the best type of cake. I also consider cheesecake to be a pie and not cake
best cake is cookie cake and/or ice cream cake… but I agree with you that cheesecake is NOT cake
Banana bread: cake or nah? I say cake.
you fool. you naive lamb of a child. banana bread is and always will be BREAD. it’s not moist enough to be cake. rebuttal?
You dare call me a fool whilst you’ve been eating dry banana bread, I’ve never had banana bread-cake hybrid (Codename: MARIE ANTOINETTE).
banana bread is cake. its not leavened. ice cream cake is also often not cake or only half cake
Vindication!
Banana bread is cake unless you made some sort of unholy abomination that involved bananas somehow involved in the baking of actual bread, which seems like the kind of Amelia Bedelia culinary fuckery that resulted in some countries’ version of the “ice cream sandwich” literally being ice cream between slices of bread.
Cheesecake is a cake. I see the argument for it being a pie–namely that it typically involves a crust–but the defining factor of the cheesecake is the cake itself, not the crust. If you make an apple pie or a cherry pie with no crust, it’s no longer a pie, just a bunch of hot fruit mush. If you make a cheesecake without a crust, it’ll certainly be harder to serve, but it’ll still absolutely be a cheesecake.
Cookie cakes aren’t cakes, they’re just giant cookies. The exceptions to this rule are “deep-dish” cookie cakes and cookie cakes stacked in layers to form an actual cake (ala crepe cakes).
Ice cream cake could be considered either. It has some of the trademark characteristics of cake, and more of them than some cakes that are unambiguously cake. But it isn’t baked, doesn’t crumb, etc. However, it’s too delicious to really be an important part of the debate.
HOLD UP! Apple or Cherry pie without a crust on top is a tart, which is what i would claim cheesecake is
I meant without a crust on top or bottom, just no crust at all.
