I would like to give to give a big middle finger to the higher ups involved in The New Mutants for the whitewashing (it does not get a pass for "not being as whitewashed as it could have been"), but also for not mentioning, like, at all that it has a queer lead. Who falls in love with one of the other main characters.
I'm honestly kind of torn up over this. We get a superhero film with a queer woc as the main, but they still fuck it up by whitewashing it and hiding the fact that it has any gay characters in it?? We could've had it this time! I actually thought the 2nd trailer that released at the start of 2020 looked good! It just. It could've been great and I'm so upset at what they did. Like.
