Fall of Icarus/Hubris of Man

2019, colorised

(And reference)

so THIS post really blew up so im working on getting prints up and it’ll probably be on my society6 , and (edit): it’s up now!!!! so go get some prints if y’all wanted em!! I also got phone cases on there too!

Random follow up- evidently the painting has now been pirated by Opa Kipos greek restaurant in Mumbai, India. No I am not kidding.

this has been a fun journey with this ol painting. I should note that the painting in real life is far smaller than me, and smaller than most paintings I make. The scan I made of it was certainly not high quality enough to blow it up to the size of a ceiling. They had to have put SO MUCH EFFORT into getting that thing up there. Anyways.

Howdy friends! This is a little different from most of my posts, but I'd like to ask for your collaboration on a little project I'm working on, that I'm calling Our Quarantine In Color.

Recently, I've been working on projects that examine health, empathy and art together in one space. I don't need to tell anyone that it's been a hard year, with likely more downs than ups, and entirely unique (and mostly undesired) experiences. Not entirely bereft of positivity, but I can't say it's been easy. So, I've created a space for people to anonymously share their quarantine experiences, dealing with physical or mental health issues, both positive and negative. Each experience, paired with a color, will be shared on instagram @ourquarantineincolor . My hope is to flood the page with colors and experiences, all blending together as a reflective testament to the past year. Please reblog and share to anybody and everybody, I want to reach as many people as possible. And again, it's all anonymous (even to me), so feel free to share anything at all. This is about our experiences, and it's about empathy. And I thank anyone for their contributions.

Window Serenade

2020

In this project I invited those in my community to visit me by putting a QR code to a form in my front yard. There they could describe themselves and tell me any personal details they wished, save for their name. In response, I’d draw a portrait based on what they gave me and posted it in my window. In the end, I had 47 responses.
