i said it was my favorite piece of media that i’ve hyperfixated on since the tender age of 12 and have not let go of since. i didnt say it was a Good piece of media

“what do you like about it so much?” the fact that it cocooned me like a tender wool blanket during my vulnerable teenage years. next question

A reminder that as with the USA, a conservative genocidal government does not mean a conservative genocidal people. Israel contains people who want to harm Palestinians and people who are against what their government is doing.

A government does not speak for everyone. A government does not always even speak for the majority.

Please remember and internalize this.

We need to bring back children’s programming that focuses on reading. I’m so serious

WE NEED THEM BACK ‼️‼️‼️

fun fact there's a political reason for less learning shows--the push for advertising in children's entertainment and deregulation surrounding it

Taras Shevchenko and Ira Aldridge by Heorhiy Melikhov, 1963

Famous Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko befriended the African-American Shakespearean actor Ira Aldridge, while the latter was on tour to the Russian Empire in 1858. Shevchenko did his portrait in pastel. It is recounted that the two men got along very well. While posing for the portrait, Aldridge sang African-American songs to Shevchenko and in return, the artist taught him Ukrainian songs.

the problem with autism is sometimes you want to do something (brave) but you need someone to gently walk you through each step so you know what will happen. and people don’t like doing that

i had to phone a taxi today, scary

every time i see this post i think of that person who posted on reddit that they wanted to go to subway for the first time but they were scared they would say the wrong thing so someone gave them step by step instructions for the entire process and what all the choices would be and when they would ask what question and i just think

someone will

someone out there will see you and say "yes. the world is scary. but let me hold your hand and show you how to do it anyways"

everyone needs that someone, and everyone can be that someone

The subreddit r/explainlikeimscared is a surprisingly good resource for this. People are always very kind and thorough from what I've seen, and I spend a decent amount of time there giving walkthroughs and answering questions when I know the process.

hey white leftists

seeing a lot of white people and i just have to say

I need all white people to read this like 10 times, just because you see yourself as progressive don’t mean you get to talk over people of color and what we side eye

Unlearning racism is like flossing.

Since racism is baked into our culture, we ingest it every day; sometimes it gets stuck in our teeth, and others can see it. When people of color say, "Hey, the thing you just did or said was racist," they're saying, "You got some racism in your teeth, dude."

Do we say, "No no, I flossed last year, there's no racism in my teeth?" "My spouse is a dentist so I don't have anything in my teeth?" No, we say, "oh damn, thank you," shut up and go find some string.

Flossing has to be done again and again. So does unlearning racism.

Fucking pains me when i go outside and see homeless ppl and like, not only they dont have a home for themselves but like they feel the need to explain themselves and be like "please i wont use the money for booze"

I'm like, i dont care, ive been homeless too, i know how it is, and i got no business being like "oh yeah i will help you but only if i agree with how you use the money i gave you"

I hate, hate, hate living in a society where the ruling class has deemed normal to have people sleeping and dying outside and made them feel less than human to the point they have to justify themselves

It's so incredibly frustrating to see non-black and indigenous leftists act like the level of police violence being exhibited towards the student protestors is unprecedented/has Never Ever been seen before

From water hoses to police dogs to tear gas to rubber bullets (to real bullets!). The LA/Rodney King/Latasha Harlins riots. May 15th, 1970- the black students protesting Vietnam at Jackson State whose violent murders were overshadowed by the rightful horror of the Kent State shootings. Hell, the time Trump had all those BLM protestors tear gassed so he could have his Bible photo op. That was just 2020! It really makes me feel like y'all were not really listening during that whole "2020 BLM summer".
