important!
I haven’t seen this on here so I thought I might share:
There isn’t a petition for this yet (as far as I know) but sign the #JunkTerrorBillNow petition
Contacting your reps directly will do literally so much more than signing a petition, and it really doesn't take that much longer.
don’t post pictures of unmasked protestors! especially right now! the police don’t need more of a reason to target people who are protesting George Floyd’s death
99% of the protestors ARE masked and y’all are still posting face pics of the ones that aren’t please stop making their images go viral
people are killed for this shit, protests are a unit, not an individual action, stop drawing attention to the individuals
REREADING THE HUNGER GAMES - some thoughts™
okay so i reread the hunger games for the first time in like… 8 years or something and boyyyyyy it was a ride:
* this book came out in like 2008, but goddamn it’s still relevant as fuck * i absolutely adore the fact that it wasn’t a traditional “rise against the government” story, where the girl was The One and she did All The Things - Katniss was thrown into all this shit somehow under the radar, with adults still running the rebellion, but choosing her as a symbol and honestly she’s like “i have no idea what the fuck to do, but i’ll listen to Haymitch and Cinna - adults who know more stuff than I do, and hopefully not get killed” * i also liked the fact that her and Peeta’s traditional roles were reversed: she was the hunter, he was the baker (who was doing the FROSTING on cakes int he bakery, like, i stan) and this was Suzanne Collins saying fuck you to expectations about what roles men and women are supposed to fulfil * this book is disguised as another YA bullshit, but my dudes, holy fuck no - even if you take out the whole “we’ll send your kids to murder each other in an arena for our entertainment” - it deals with a shit ton of issues: PTSD, abandonment, alcoholism, children way too young being forced to take the roles of providers in their respective families, how entertainment affects the way we see the world, how media manipulates perception - like, this shit is Deep™
* it annoys me that at one point, this book/series was reduced to Team Gale vs Team Peeta, when… it was honestly about SO much more. And tbh, the progression of the love triangle was natural - when you share a life and death situation with someone, it’s completely natural to have at least some conflicting feelings towards that person, so Katniss’ indecision over Peeta and Gale is completely fucking normal for an adult, let alone a teenager just discovering themselves and exploring their heart
* the writing is Really Good, even compared to newer books that I’ve personally read and adored - it’s intense, fast paced, I flew through this in a couple of days and even knowing the story, it was still gripping and adrenaline-fuelled
* Peeta is completely underrated as a strategist - like, that kid is Smart™ as fuck
* Katniss and Rue’s relationship was such a punch in the gut, because it really solidifies the idea that these are kids, paying the price for something they had no hand in, paying the price for a past they had no choice in and no control over, and I’m unashamed to say that I, a woman in her 30s, still cried ugly tears when Katniss sang her song for Rue
* honestly, my dudes, just… pick up this book and read it, because it’s so, so much more than what the movies reduced it to (I love the movies, but… yeah) - this shit is a dystopian masterpiece and Suzanne Collins is a queen, we stan

Percy: *taking the phone* Hey babe
One of the things that Riordan didn’t do so well at was showing how the Seven’s experiences as children shaped them later in life. Because anyone who goes through half the stuff that the seven has knows that it leaves its marks.
I don’t care how great of a guy Paul Blofis is - Percy will still watch his every move, checking in with his mom and carefully watching for any sign that she was being mistreated. It happened before and he wouldn’t let it happen again. He flinches every time someone goes to give him a high-five, and while he’s slowly getting better that instinct to duck will never fully go away. People tease him because its weird for a kid his age to be so close to his mother, but he doesn’t care.
It took Annabeth YEARS to get to the point where she trusted Chiron enough to treat him like the father-figure he became. She kept waiting for that other shoe to drop, for him to realize that she wasn’t worth keeping around. Keeps waiting for Sally to turn on her, to say ‘stay away from my family, you aren’t safe’. Except for Percy, there has been no one in her life that she can rely on no matter what. Even though she knows he won’t, there’s a voice in the back of her head that says its only a matter of time until he leaves her too.
Nico wears terrifying clothes not because he’s the son of Hades, but because they scare people away. The less people that are close to him, the smaller the chances of people getting hurt because of him. He’s a control freak - if he is on a quest he plans out every last detail, and he has to run point. He volunteers for every quest that he can. The last time he let someone else lead while he stayed home, Bianca died. He doesn’t want anyone else to have to go through that pain. He hoards food - peanuts, protein bars, things that have lots of protein and fat in them.
Frank lives every day like it’s his last, because it just might be.
Hazel crosses the street when she sees a group of white men, and is extra polite to police officers. She still has to remind herself that she can sit wherever she wants, that she can eat at any restaurant, that she can go to the bathroom in any women’s restroom. She hates swimming more than anything, because she’s seen first-hand what happened to black people who swam in the pool.
Leo wakes up every morning and has to remind himself to smile. He cracks jokes because he can. But also because he thinks that he can’t be too much of a monster if he can make people laugh. He can never get comfortable staying in one place for too long - he’s constantly on edge, waiting to be sent to the next home. He dreams of fiery garages and his friends turning on him, calling him 'el diablo’ before they try and kill him.
And this is before you factor in the PTSD of surviving multiple battles, the worries and fears that go hand-in-hand with being a demigod.
Things romanogers fans and stucky fans have in common:
-THE WINTER SOLDIER IS THE BEST MCU FILM CHANGE MY MIND
-endgame ruined them
-1940’s AUs
-their fave is appearing in their own franchise this year
-probably respect natasha
-firm believer in the cap quartet
-civil war was prime shipping territory
-permanently sad post-endgame
optional step six: shared life experience
captain america: the winter soldier (2014) // black widow (2020)
avengers 1 was the first marvel movie i ever watched.
i remember feeling absolute fear for natasha romanov, a woman who was tied and interrogated and about to be tortured. one of my biggest fears, as a young girl. i remember feeling anger and spite and hatred towards those men, because versions of them exist everywhere in our world. the ones who degrade women because they are women.
and then i remember being absolutely confused when her tone switched entirely, when she said “i’m working!” as if she was being inconvenienced, as if she was exactly where she was supposed to be, where she wanted to be. she was in my exact worst nightmare, and yet she was perfectly in control.
then, she kicked major ass, and walked off barefoot, stopping only to pick up her heels.
i changed as a person after i saw that scene.
i’d grown up watching james bond. i’d grown up watching crime shows, where the detective is always a man, and he always has a female partner who does nothing. i’d grown up watching shows where the men were always the heroes, and the women were always nothing more than sex objects or damsels in distress.
i had never once seen a woman on film do what natasha romanov did.
and then, i watched iron man 2, and i watched as she took down a man twice her size without any preparation. i watched as she took down dozens of highly trained men in hammer technology. all without a single gunshot.
i watched as she chose to fight in avengers 1, chose to fight without a single thing to protect her, no superpowers, no armor, no shield, no arrows, nothing. she was like me.
she changed who i was, she changed who i would be.
and then i watched in avengers endgame where a woman who once was trained to be a killer became a hero. as she stepped up. as she mourned the loss of her friends, her family. i watched as she made the sacrifice, not because of guilt or obligation, but because she knew it was the right thing to do. as she chose to fight, once again, but in a different way.
so thank you to natasha romanov. because without her, i’d still be the scared person i was 7 years ago. i’m not anymore. i’m not scared when i walk into a room full of men. i’m not scared to speak louder and walk faster and be unapologetically me.
so this is a thank you to black widow, to natasha romanov, and natalie rushman. because she made me who i am. and she taught me that people aren’t black and white. that your past does not define your future. that there is always a way to make a situation turn in your favor, no matter how scared you are.
a thank you to natasha romanov, a woman who turned my biggest fear into her playground.

Story summary: Everyone has a countdown on their wrist to when they will find their soulmate. If they don’t, they die. Even Steve Rogers’s ran in one direction, though it took him ninety years to meet his. But Bucky’s has never run normally, not in the 40s, not when he was the Winter Soldier, and not now that the whole mess with the Infinity Gauntlet has been fixed. But now it’s stuck and he has no idea why.
Meanwhile, Clara’s is still running despite being taken out of the timeline, though never in any way that makes sense or has ever made sense. Not to her, not to the Doctor, not to Ashildr. She’d expected it to disappear. But it’s simply counting down to her inevitable demise.
And yet? Fate has it ways to make these two meet…even if it takes a TARDIS and the Avengers to make it happen.

12 words??
There’s worse ways to go. Where else am I gonna get a view like this?

Natasha Romanoff, Black Widow, Avenger: Thank you for everything.
Y'all... please read this interview with Bella Thorne. Aside from the fact it reads as if it was written by a former Wattpad One Direction fanfic writer, it's... something else.

Genuinely thought it was Wattpad bs
