i just had the weirdest moment, i was feeling my front teeth with my tongue because they’re the tiniest bit crooked, and then i had the thought “i’ll check if they’re also crooked in my other mouth” and then i realized to my shock and confusion that i have only one mouth, leading me to believe that in a past life i was a terrible monster with two mouths

A few months ago, I thought to myself “Mmm I’m so tired… how much longer in this one again?” and I knew instinctively what I meant by ‘this one’ was this body and this life. I then spend a few wide-eyed moments having an identity/existential crisis like how many times have I been on this earth to have such an instinctive response to being bone-weary to my soul? No one can really answer, especially not me.

In July 2017, one night I woke up around 2 a.m and blurted out in a quasi professorial voice “the Equinox Bird has infinite beaks, all in the wrong direction, and infinite eyes” and I don’t know what the fuck I was dreaming about but it still haunts me. It seemed like a very important information for a few seconds.

i really appreciate the last commenter giving us an exact date and time like that information needs to be preserved

One time I passed out on the couch after going a few days without sleep, and when I woke up mom said I had been speaking in German in my sleep, and it sounded like I was ordering people to build something

When I was like 5 my mom took me to the grave of her friend that died of cancer and I asked what happened and my mom explained that she died and i fucking said “I died once” and my mom asked me to explain and I went into pretty detailed explanation about how I died in a war because “I got stabbed by a gun with a knife at the end” (my exact words) and I met god and she (she’s a woman obvs) asked if I wanted to stay or go back to earth and I said I wanted to go back so I chose my mom cause she was struggling to have a baby (she had me through IVF) and lemme tell you that changed her like nothing will make you second guess your religious beliefs like a five year old explaining heaven and god to you

this post is a fucking ride and it reminded me of something i forgot

one time i was playing on my wii (like 5-ish years ago) and i thought to myself “i haven’t checked on rowan in a week, has he died from the plague? :(“ and i didn’t think anything of it for a bit until later when i had a “what the fuck” moment

I love this kind of shit because it happens to me all the goddamn time. Like:

-The other night I rolled over in the middle of the night to shake my partner awake, proceeded to tell him how I was glad that ‘this time round we would truly have the freedom to love each other properly’ and how his hands belonged to his last self, but his eyes had never changed in all the lives I’d known him. And he just laid there in the dark like wtf because I was asleep. Like I’d woken him to tell him that all in my sleep and then left him to have a crisis.

- Watching the history channel with my Pop on the couch, tender age of 7, and they’re talking about crucifixion. And my pop, ever the funny man, is like “that looks like it aughta hurt”. And I just turn to look at him and without hesitation reply “only at first”. And he’s like “what do you mean” and tiny me just shrugged and said “well there’s a place beyond the hurt where everything just stops” and he turned the telly off and left the room.

- night before Christmas 2012, dreamt I’d been stabbed in the lungs by an angel with the face of a falcon. He looked at me and told me he had to do it, so that ‘my next breath would come as a rebirth’. When he started to glow so brightly that it burned my eyes, I woke up to all the lights in my house on and a dark bruise beneath my rib cage. Will admit, that one freaked me out.

- walked past a graveyard with a friend back in middle school on the way to her house, and mid conversation I stopped talking and stood stock still, looked over at the walls, and quietly said “I have a friend in there”. Then picked up the conversation and continued strolling like nothing had happened. To be fair, I didn’t realise what I’d said. She still tells me I’m the reason she can’t walk past that graveyard anymore.

- a couple of years ago when I was in Wales I walked past an old stone house just outside of Aberystwyth, and just started to weep. I had the overwhelming thought that I needed to be in there to get dinner ready for the children, but in a different life so long ago and so impossible to reach, that thefeeling of loss was instant and overwhelming.

- was about to use a pedestrian crossing, when my whole body just sort of went hey don’t do that, and so I stopped and put my arm out to stop the woman who was crossing behind me, and 2 seconds later a car came skidding around the corner and crashed into the tree on the other side of the crossing, and I just whispered “ha, not this time” and didn’t really think about it until later when I realised I’d nearly died again. (Btw i waited for th ambulance to show up and the dude driving the car was fine, just hit his head and was drunk af at 10:30am on a Thursday).

- another dream I had just this week, I was sitting in an otherwise empty cinema with a tall, thin man. I can’t really recall what he looked like, except he was well dressed, impossibly pale, and he kind of blurred when you looked directly at him, so I mainly watched him out the corner of my eye and looked ahead at the blank movie screen. He was holding my hand, and he asked me if i enjoyed my life. I said yes and explained why. He then said, almost verbatim, “And how does this one weigh against the last? Can it tip the scales, or is it, at last, to be found lacking?” And I replied, almost verbatim “I weigh my lives against my joy, and each life I find there is more joy to be discovered.” He replied with a laugh, lifted my hand to a kiss and said “till next time then” and disappeared. I woke up in the dark with both my cats sitting on me, alert, and staring out my bedroom door.

So many more, but these are the first that come to mind.

When I was little, my mother, my sister and I would dream in unison so often that one time when my mother was having a rather dull dream about golf my tiny 3 year old self shook her awake and told her to stop because it was boring. She dreaded having nightmares because both of us would wake up shrieking.

My sister and I have also been known to argue in our sleep. Witnesses assure us that whatever made the shouting start, we both knew what it was and were mad about it. We don’t need to be in the same room for this.

We also stayed in a haunted house for a while. An old lady had fallen in the chilly hallway just outside the warm kitchen, broken her hip, and couldn’t reach high enough to open the door, so she died of hypothermia a foot away from a telephone and warmth. Without fail, every person who stood in that spot and tried to open that door - the single most used door in the house, being between the kitchen and the bathroom and front door - felt cold and found themselves scrabbling frantically at the door handle, which was always strangely hard to open from that side. You got used to it to an extent, but it always hit strangers hard.

Shit dude yall are cursed

I love this thread

I’ve had several experiences like this and if you ask my family, it’s because we were cursed by a witch several generations back. But! Highlights include:

  • My great grandmother died when I was very young (like four years old). I told my parents that she had come to say goodbye to me before leaving. I knew she was dead before they did.
  • Sharing dreams was mentioned and while I’ve never had the same dream at the same time as someone else, I have regularly had dreams about a woman named Faith. For years, I didn’t tell anyone about her bc tbh she kind of creeps me out and is soothing in equal parts. Come to find out, my dad also has dreams with Faith in them and his dreams involving her deal a lot with death, like mine do.
  • Every house I’ve lived in since I was a child has been haunted, but they haven’t all started out that way. My grandmother thinks it is the family that is haunted, not the places. (There’s that family curse coming back in to play.)
  • I’ve had a reoccurring nightmare since childhood involving running through a city with cobblestone streets as a child along with several others. By the end of the nightmare, me and all the children have died. The first time I had this nightmare, I woke up crying and saying that everyone had died again and I still couldn’t stop it.
  • When I was little, I had an imaginary friend I called “Woo Woo”. He was very tall, had no hair, and typically dressed in red. I never thought anything about this after getting older until I was babysitting my little cousin (who was five or six at them time) and she told me that Woo Woo had told her to tell me he said hello and was sorry he couldn’t visit like he used to. I had never told her about Woo Woo.

wow we’re all cursed

is now a good time for me to bring up the 4AM angel or whatever they were that appeared in the kitchen and gestured for me to follow them up the stairs, then walked past the fridge and up those stairs?

is it also a good time to mention that the kitchen doesn’t have any stairs, and the back hall right next to it only has stairs that lead down?

self-rb-ing bc i just remembered an irl friend’s story that would probably fit here too

she’s a writer too, but she specializes more in original fic than fanfic like me

and she was talking to her aunt and just. out of the blue. her aunt starts talking about her latest story idea, including extremely detailed plot points. she tells her to keep going, it’ll be great!

my friend had barely even begun fleshing the story out in her head, only getting the vaguest parts of those plot points figured out by that point. she hadn’t told anybody about the story yet.

look what i’m sayin is don’t discount these paranormal incidents bc they ‘sound fake’

Hey, i'm a beginner witch and i'd like to start doing spells. Problem is that I have two pet birds, and they can't be around candles because the smoke and fumes are bad for them. Is there anything you can use as a substitute for real candles while doing spells??

hey you

depending on the type of working you could possibly substitute LED candles (read this post for more information) for real ones

i might suggest investing in a wax warmer, that way you can omit the flame all together but still have a nice, mild scent diffusing through the room. they’re pretty cheap (i got one for like 10 bucks at walmart) and you can carve glyphs and symbols into the wax cubes for a boost of energy.

i have rabbits and guinea pigs so i can understand the sensitivity of these little guys’ respiratory systems. is it possible to do your workings in another room if you absolutely feel like you have to use candles?

either way, candles aren’t mandatory for magic/k, even for beginners. (although i must admit candle magic/k can be super effective)

lastly, you can invest in an air purifier. to at least put in the room your birds are in, which will help absorb any pollutants, not just candle smoke but they’re kind of expensive.

good luck!

I wanted to write about some spell work I did a few nights ago ~

I’ve been feeling so stuck, trapped, and pinned down. like my energy was cluttered, weighed down, and being too influenced by outside forces.

I wrote down a list of things I wanted to release - the cords I wanted to cut - the outside energy I wanted to be free from.

I won’t go over the whole ritual because it was incredibly personal, but at the end I set that journal page on fire and meditated.

When I was done, all that remained was this tiny piece with the words “I am” ✨ at first I was concerned that the whole thing didn’t burn, but then it hit me that this is all that remains - me. I am my own person again, I am free to choose my own life, I am no longer bound by others or influenced by their energy. I am free.

I am 🕊

I am, I am, I am, I am.

what a beautiful revelation!

I’ve used quarantine to delve deeper into indigenous herbalism, a practice that has always played in the background of my life—having a Chiricahua grandfather and a Nahua grandmother—but one that I’ve never had the time to cultivate myself. These past few weeks I’ve been experimenting with handcrafting tea blends (the herbs + flowers of which have all been grown and harvested by yours truly); teas for energy, teas for relaxation, teas for warding off colds (and mal de ojo), teas for migraines, etc. Last night, in lieu of sleep (I should make a tea for insomnia), I decided one tea that was woefully missing from my arsenal was a brew for communicating with the dead—a Spirit Tea, if you will. Armed with all the time in the world, a new hyperfixation, and a career in ancient cultures + folklore, I found true success in my brujeria mission.

I decided this would be a good time to use a candle I made a few months back featuring myrrh (used for funerary rites throughout the ages), cypress (the tree symbolizing mourning and associated with the underworld in Classical Antiquity), and bergamot (because it smells amazing) with a mullein (supposed to aid in visualizing spirits when burned) candlewick, and then anointed with a drop of mandragora root extract (aka the mandrake, possibly the most infamous plant in herbalism, namely for the fact that it can and will kill the shit out of you with ease and pleasure, so don’t ever ingest or use this topically).

On that note, now feels like the right time to add in a disclaimer, so here: I am not a medical practitioner and cannot safely recommend anyone drink the tea I’m about to go into detail about. The onus is on you to do proper research, and remember to always consult a doctor about your forays into necromancy.

Without further delay, here is my Spirit Tea recipe:

• Blue Lotus, dried, 1/2 tsp - Long regarded as sacred in numerous archaic religions and a symbol of resurrection, this psychoactive plant has mild sedative effects. Ubiquitous in Ancient Egypt, it was used both ceremoniously and as, well, a party drug.

• Greater Periwinkle (vinca major), dried, 1/8 tsp - Traditionally grown on graves and native to cemeteries, this flower has become intrinsically linked with the dead. In Welsh folklore it is a symbol of protection. It also has medicinal uses as it contains vincamine, a memory stimulant. Note: Do not confuse Madagascar periwinkle (catharanthus rosea) with Greater periwinkle, as the former is known as the Flower of Death for a different reason; it is highly toxic to humans and fatal in high doses.

• Wormwood, dried, 1/2 tsp - Famously used to flavor absinthe in 19th century Europe, this plant has been traditionally thought in folklore to summon spirits and assist in communicating with the dead.

• Bay Laurel, one leaf, finely minced or ground - Easily acquired (from your grocer as ‘bay leaf’ or in your garden center as ‘laurel’), this plant is rooted in Greek mythology. The Greek word for Bay is dhafni, after the nymph Daphne who was changed into a bay laurel tree to protect her from the unwanted advances of Apollo. The tree is sacred to Apollo and it is said that the Oracle at Delphi chewed the leaves and inhaled the smoke when seeking visions.

• Cedar, dried, 1 tsp - Sacred and ceremonial, this tree is widely believed by many Native American nations to be home to the spirits of ancestors. In Chiricahua Apache rituals, it is burnt as to entice the souls of the departed to appear to their loved ones.

• Thyme, dried, 1/2 tsp - Historically used in funerary bouquets and thrown on the coffins of the deceased as they were lowered into the ground to help the spirit transition from one world to another, this herb is more than just flavor for food. It is also thought to help ease the pain of those who are deeply mourning.

• Rosemary, dried, 1/2 tsp - Rumored in folklore to attract the fae folk and elves to your garden, this herb has historically been used in funerary wreaths and during protection rituals to ward off evil spirits.

• Lavender, dried, 1 tsp - From use during mummification in Ancient Egypt, to use as a remedy during the Great Plague in 17th century London, to the medicinal and therapeutic used across Rome and Greece—and thought by many to bring great peace to the dead—this plant is one of the most well known and beloved throughout the world and its history.

• Sweetgrass, dried, 1/2 tsp - Known for its purifying properties and used in indigenous cleansing rituals, this herb’s pleasant vanilla-y taste helps balance out some of the stronger and more bitter plants used.

• Black Sage (otherwise known as Mugwort, Dream Weed, or Magical Sage), dried, 1 tsp - A misnomer, this herb is traditionally used to aid in astral travel, lucid dreaming, and trance work. The Artemisia-strands contain a mild trance-inducing compound called thujone, so use sparingly and with caution.

• A Second Type of Sage, dried, 1 tsp - I used White Sage (otherwise known as Sacred Sage) because I receive seeds each year through my tribal exchange. White Sage has been appropriated and over-harvested to the point of being on an at-watch list, so I must insist that you either buy it through an indigenous organization (not from a corporation or from anyone who says it is “wildcrafted”) or you use a different type of cleansing sage, like Common Sage (otherwise known as Green Sage or Kitchen Sage), or Blue Sage (otherwise known as Desert Sage or Grandmother Sage). Both are easy enough to come by, aren’t ecologically harmful to buy, and have similar cleansing and protection properties as White.

• Dittany of Crete, dried, 1 tsp - A rare cousin of oregano, this herb’s name was derived from the Minoan Goddess of Diktyanna. In Ancient Crete, it proved to have extremely potent healing, pain-relief, and sedative properties. Some occultists believe that it can aid in spirit sight and evocative manifestations.

• 16 oz of water

• Honey or sweetener of choice is optional (the tea is going to have a very strong and slightly bitter taste)

To prepare the tea:

Combine all of your herbs + flowers into either a fine-mesh satchel or a metal tea infuser. Place your tea, along with the water, into a pot. Bring to a boil, then turn the heat off completely and allow to steep for 15 minutes. Sweeten, if you’d like. This recipe makes 1-2 servings. I drank it all in one, but if you’re unaccustomed to the ingredients, I’d split it into two.

The tea hit me fiercely and swiftly; the sedative effect is no joke, so keep that in mind. I fell asleep within minutes, and that’s as someone who suffers from extreme insomnia. I dreamt of my best friend. He has been dead for 14 months and despite fighting it, I’ve all but forgotten his voice, scent, feel—but it all came rushing back in my dream, and it hasn’t left yet. We were in a meadow surrounded by wildflowers. I kept placing my head on his chest so I could hear the reassuring thump, thump, thump of his beating heart. He found that amusing. I could smell traces of rosé on his warm breath. I could touch the raised moles on his forearm in that familiar constellation pattern. I took in his big, crooked nose that I always loved so much. His honey-gold eyes held life and color again—nothing like the glazed, milky, desaturated version of his fresh corpse. We talked about our old times, my new times, and laughed about this absurd time of Covid-19. I screamed; I begged; I cried at him. I asked him if the mangled ghost he haunts me as in my dreams sometimes is actually him and he says no, that that was just me. But this is him. I know it. I can feel it. Deep down in my bones and in my blood and in my atoms I know that this is him, for the first time since he has been gone, this is finally, truly him. It must be.

Or is it me?

Call it whatever you want: a lucid dream, a hallucination, or a slow descent into madness due to unmitigated grief and desperation. But in that moment, in the twilight hour, in my head or in another realm; he was real and we were together.

“A ghost can be a lot of things. A memory, a daydream, a secret. Grief, anger, guilt. But, in my experience, most times they're just what we want to see. Most times, a ghost is a wish.” ~ THoHH, 2018

BLACK SALT (also known as WITCH’S SALT) is used primarily for protection, banishing, and repelling.

Those uses aren’t exclusive—it has also been known to feature in baneful magics, and can be used in uncrossing rituals.

WAYS TO UTILISE BLACK SALT

  1. To protect your property from negative spirits, people with ill-intent, unwanted visitors, and negative energy: sprinkle black salt around the perimeter of your property.
  2. To both banish any residual icky energy that a person may have left in your home, and prevent them from returning: sprinkle black salt on the front step and sweep it away. If you’re feeling more traditional (and brave!) you can throw black salt at the back of someone that is leaving your home also.
  3. To prevent nightmares: use in a sachet and keep beneath your pillow.
  4. To repel negativity, unwanted visitors, and rumours/gossip: sprinkle generously across windowsills and doorways.
  5. To cleanse your home and keep nasties from entering: add black salt to a floor wash and go ham on your floor. Focus especially on high traffic areas.
  6. To undo a curse, hex, or other form of malignant magic that has been cast upon you: use in an uncrossing oil or powder. Learn more about uncrossing [here].
  7. To alleviate any negative thoughts and feelings that you are carrying: add a pinch of black salt to your bath, or to an oil with a similar purpose that you anoint yourself with.

Color Magic 101: Limited Color Palettes

Limited color palettes are one of my favorite color schemes to use. It’s super easy for beginners to get beautiful pieces with a harmonious aesthetic but even if you’re really experienced as an artist it’s a way to take the stress out of mixing a whole bunch of colors.

Here’s how easy it is: Pick two colors (complementaries work great but it can be any two colors) plus black and white. That’s it! You’re done with the super stressful color picking portion of visual spell creation! Wasn’t that easy?

How do you make a whole piece out of just two colors? Here’s my formula for getting a great range of hues to use throughout your piece. Note: you will get better results if you pick a warm color and a cool color but I’ll talk about those a bit later.

Image

So, in this example we started with blue and orange (complementary colors).

The left column has a mix of 70% blue with 30% orange. The top one is mixed with white, the center is a straight mix, and the bottom square adds black.

In the center column there’s a 50/50 mix of the blue and orange, white on top, straight in the middle, and with black on bottom.

In the right column you flip the percentages to favoring the orange. So 70% orange with 30% blue, tinted on top, shaded on bottom, and a straight mix in the center.

Now to talk about warm and cool colors. This can be a bit tricky because usually people just assume that if it’s red it’s warm and if it’s blue it’s cool. That’s simply not true! Each hue has it’s own spectrum ranging from warm to cool. The very center of that spectrum represents the True Hue or the most pure version of that hue. The best way to illustrate this is to show you the warm/cool combos side by side so you can see what I mean.

Here you can see the stark differences. Warm hues are closer to red on the color wheel, cool ones are closer to the blue. Here’s another example which shows the variations of the three primary colors.

I hope this gives you some ideas for your own visual spells. Match your correspondences to your intent, pick a couple colors to work with and make some magic happen!

Love and Light, Lumi

Planet Worship & Astrolatry ✨

Astrolatry is defined as the worship of stars and other celestial bodies as deities or associating them with deities. Deity, in this case, may refer to a God or Goddess but can also refer to something with divine status, quality, or nature. In my personal practice, I do not worship or work with anthropomorphic deities, or deities who are described as having human-like traits and behaviors. Although the planets were named for Greco-Roman beings with these qualities, I do not see them [the planets] as such beings. Instead, I use the lore and correspondences associated with the planets and other celestial bodies to worship them as divine entities themselves. Overall, I believe that the Cosmos itself is divine, which includes the many celestial bodies encompassed inside of it. In my opinion, celestial bodies have their own innate energies that we can work with without thinking of them as what others would describe as Gods/Goddesses/deities, much like we view crystals, herbs, and other objects.

Working with celestial bodies in this sense would be much like working with deities: you could make offerings, use their energy and aid in magickal workings, dedicate a shrine or altar to them, or even pray to them.

While it may sound odd to pray to a planet or a star, prayer is most simply defined as requesting help/assistance or expressing thanks to a deity or an object of worship, and in this case, the object of worship in question would be the celestial body of your choosing.

Offerings are generally given to express your gratitude for receiving assistance from celestial bodies.

Offerings will vary depending on the celestial body you are working with, but here are a few ideas:

  • bury crystals in the soil
  • leave crystals on your altar or shrine
  • burn incense or a blend of herbs and spices
  • light a candle according to color or scent
  • leave a mixture of herbs and spices on your altar/shrine
  • floral arrangements
  • food and beverages
  • trinkets or jewelry
  • use representations of associated animals (could be a drawing, a feather, a tuft of fur, a whisker, etc. all safely and legally harvested, of course)
  • drawings or paintings of the celestial body

Bonding with celestial bodies and utilizing celestial energy in magickal workings:

  • use planetary hours or lunar cycles based on intent
  • perform magick on days of the week that are associated with the corresponding planet
  • spend time outside under the stars
  • study astronomy and astrology
  • draw down energy from celestial bodies based on intent
  • i like to use the skymaps app on my smartphone to track down the celestial body in the sky for increased accuracy
  • astral travel to other planets
  • try spiral meditation to ground, center, and channel celestial energy
  • use planetary symbols to represent a planet in a spell
  • draw the symbol in a pen or marker of corresponding color
  • carve the symbol in a candle or wax cube of corresponding color or scent
  • create a crystal grid in the shape of the symbol
  • arrange herbs or flowers in the shape of the symbol
  • make a corresponding oil and draw the symbol on yourself or another medium
  • burn herbs or incense associated with a celestial body based on intent
  • use candles based on scent and color to correspond with your intent
  • use tarot or oracle cards that you associate with certain celestial bodies
  • create and use planetary or celestial oils to anoint objects
  • make crystal grids based on the current planetary alignment
  • make crystal elixirs using crystals associated with certain planets or other celestial bodies
  • wear a corresponding crystal on your person
  • wear a pendant made from corresponding herbs and spices on your person
  • paint your nails using corresponding colors
  • make an herbal sachet to use in the bath
  • use bath crayons to draw symbols and sigils in the bath/shower
  • drink tea made from corresponding herbs (that are safe to consume)
  • add herbs of corresponding intent to your food while cooking or baking

Worshiping on the go:

  • carry corresponding crystals in your pocket
  • wear a corresponding crystal/herbal pendant
  • draw celestial sigils/planetary symbols on yourself with a crystal elixir, oil, or marker/pen of corresponding color
  • draw celestial sigils/planetary symbols on paper and carry them with you
  • wear planetary symbols as jewelry
  • carry a corresponding herb or crystal sachet in your pocket, purse, or backpack
  • say a quick prayer to acknowledge a celestial body or thank them for their aid
  • enchant every day items with planetary/celestial energy
  • chapstick/lip gloss/lipstick
  • other makeup products
  • shampoo/conditioner/soap
  • compact mirror
  • perfume/cologne/body spray
  • car/house keys
  • keychains
  • lanyard
  • name badge/ID for school or work
  • wristwatch
  • stationary (pens, highlighters, notebooks, planners, etc.)
  • lighter
  • gum/candy

Tips on how to cleanse negative energies🍋🍚

What you need:

• 1 lemon

• Salt

•Cut the lemon in 4 parts like. It should look like this⬇️

•Then, add the salt inside the lemon and make sure it's filled. Place the lemon in a plate with salt.

• Once you have your lemon with the salt in it, put the plate under your bed. Make sure you put the plate at the same spot where your heart and chest are when you lay down in bed.

•Leave the lemon until the salt is crystallized in it. Check it to see any changes in the colour of the lemon and stuff like that.

Another tip is:

•Fill a glass container with 3 quarters of salt and add a quarter of vinegar.

Leave the glass with the ingredients in your room or any room you want to cleanse until the salt is crystallized.

IMPORTANT: Remember that you must charge these elements with your intent/purpose so think, say, visualise your intent while you prepare them.

Daily Spell: April 13th

Easter Lily Anti-Love Spell

You’ll need:

  • Three black candles
  • Three Easter lilies

This time of the year, Easter lilies are in full bloom just about everywhere. The bulbs and flowers are toxic, and in many forms of folk magic they come in very handy to counteract love spells that someone might be sending your way. You can even use this working if you think someone else might be the target of a love spell.

Find a place with moving water, like a stream or river. Place the candles on a flat surface, and light them, saying “I will banish the love, banish the magic, banish the spell that binds me.” Pluck a petal from one of the Easter lilies, and drop it into the water. As you do, say “[Person’s name*], your love spell is gone.” When the petal has floated completely out of your sight, repeat this until all the petals are gone from the Easter lilies. When you are done, extinguish the candles, and bury them – along with the stems – somewhere far from your home.

*if you don’t know specifically who has placed a love spell on you, that’s okay. Substitute the name of the person with “You that have cast upon me,” instead.

🛡 Warding 🛡

Disclaimer: This is all based on my research, path, opinion & experiences! Intro: I really was holding out on doing this post because it’s such a big, important topic to cover and I really don’t want to mess it up or get anything wrong. This post needs to be done though, people have asked if I have such a post and an anon suggested it. So finally, here it is.  - What Is Warding? Warding is a type of magick, it is the act of creating an energetic barrier around you, your home, an object, ect. They can be temporary or permanent, although typically they are cast with the long term in mind. They can banish or turn away whatever you choose. Warding is an excellent skill to have because it can keep you, and even others safe and with practice you can do it anytime with just about whatever you have on hand.  When Should I Ward? Whenever you want an energetic barrier around you, most people consistently ward their home, themselves or their place of practice. Some people even ward their space every time they prepare for a spell. It should be done consistently in any area you want protected, but exactly where and how often is entirely up to the practitioner.  What Should I Do Before? Cleanse, a ward is a barrier of energy and in the same way that it keeps things out it also keeps things in. You don’t want to trap anything inside of it. Cleanse yourself before you ward yourself. Cleanse your space before you ward your space!  Tips Before You Ward- Phrasing Keep the phrasing in mind! You don’t want to keep anything out that you want in, or let something in that you want out. If you’re chanting or using sigils ect keep in mind exactly what you want to keep out both in your methods and in your mind. Covering everything Make sure to cover everything, a ward is useless if there’s a weakness in it or if the ceiling & floor aren’t probably covered. Be super thorough!  Layering Your Wards One small little wimpy barrier? Ha, the spirits say as they scramble into your home to wreak havoc! You need to layer your wards, don’t just use one method one time, there’s no such thing as too much warding.  What Are Some Ways That I Can Ward? Now we’ll get right down to the methods you can use to ward yourself and your space! Remember that warding is important and needs to be effective, don’t try anything that you don’t have experience with for warding. At first, focus on the stuff you know. If you like sigils, use sigils at first and slowly work your way into using other more complex methods or methods that solely rely on your abilities. Circle Casting You cast a circle by summoning the four elements to protect & energize what is in the circle.  - Here’s my post about circles & how to cast them  Chanting/Speaking Come up with a protective chant you can use to ward your space. This chant could be someone else’s or your own as long as you feel it’s effective. Speak it aloud and visualize a layer of energy protecting your space.  Incense Burn a protective incense in the space you’d like to ward and visualize a barrier protecting your space. Athame Draw out the line of your ward with your athame, visualize the wall appearing, covering everything with a thick layer of energy.  Spraying Spray a mix of blessed/magickal waters and or herbs with protective properties in the space you want to ward.  Sigils Create a sigil using your favorite method with the intent to “ward” or “protect/protection.” Then charge and activate it as a layer of protection! Here’s my post on sigils if you’re interested in that: - Sigil Post Jar Spells You could mix up a jar spell for warding, set it in your house and forget it as a layer of warding.  - My protective jar spell post Anointment Anoint the doorways of your space, you could also anoint the ceiling, floor, walls, corners, honestly go for it.  Salt Sprinkle salt all around the edge of your home or space. Make sure to sprinkle salt on the INSIDE of your harm as salt can harm plants & wildlife if used outside. If you’d like to make a barrier on the outside of your home, you can use dried & crushed eggshells in place of salt. - Post on how to make eggshell powder here -  Hag stones Hag stones are stones with holes in them that have been corroded into the stone because of rushing water. It is believed rushing water is protective & cleansing so if you wear a stone that sat in it long enough to have parts corroded away, that the stone will maintain and keep those properties with it. It’s a great way to personally ward yourself, and an excuse to go out in nature.  They look like this!

Energy Manipulation If you’ve got a knack for manipulating energy, you can create a barrier through work and visualization that surrounds yourself or your space. This isn’t recommended for beginners though! Links: - Horse Warding Charm By @anothersusurrus - House Warding Spritz Mixture By @seleneblackwell Both of these are great if you’re looking for specific spells, types of magick, correspondences, sigils, ect! - Protection Magic Masterpost Part 1 By @auricwitch - Protection Magic Masterpost Part 2 By @auricwitch Personal Wards Also remember not just to ward your space but yourself, if you layer your home with wards, what happens when you leave? Exactly. Keep yourself safe too! Circle casting & hag stones are great methods I mentioned above that are good for personal warding.  Can I Ward Specific Things And Not Others? Absolutely! I mentioned this in the phrasing section of this post, keep in mind exactly what you want to keep out when you’re warding. I like words like “negative” or “harmful” or “with ill intent” because they don’t necessarily keep out the Fae or positive/neutral spirits but it does keep out anything that wants to harm you in general. Just think about it ahead of time, find wording or a phrase you like and keep that in mind as you ward.  What If I Live With People? If you’re out of the broom closet, explain to your family/roommates what you’re doing and why you’re doing it and make sure they’re cool with it and are aware of what’s going on. If you’re not out of the broom closet, you may have to resort to only warding yourself/your room, & that’s okay!  I hope this helps someone or teaches them something new! Enjoy! Have a lovely day 💖
