help a trans butch lesbian escape an abusive home!

Hey y’all, my name is Beryl, I am an afrolatine nonbinary butch lesbian.  I currently live with my parents, who are incredibly abusive. I am planning on moving to Boston to live with with my partner on May 12th, but I have things I need to do in preparation for my big move.

The phone that I have now is under my parents’ name and could be used to track me once I move to Boston, since they track me everywhere I go, so I need to leave it behind when I leave. As a result, I’m gonna need a temporary prepaid phone that I can use while traveling to keep in contact with my partners (which I estimate will cost about $20), and it’s going to cost approximately $200 for me to get a new phone. I also need about $15 for an official copy of my birth certificate! If u wanna help me, send me money here! Thank you!

someone once said the definition of modern art is it still elicits as strong an emotional response in you as classical art but you can no longer understand or articulate why

to this day this is still ultimately my favorite post on this site

Welcome to Australia...

Where an already endangered species is on the brink of functional extinction...

Oh, and 500 million animals unique to this country have already lost their lives, upon homes that have been destoryed and lives lost of people as well...

I mean... we're only living in a literal inferno...

415 fires. Fuck are we dying...

Oh yeah and people are just fleeing to the damn ocean, you know?

Do you want to know what Hell on Earth looks like..?

Because there it is in all it's unfiltered, firey rage...

There it is... my home from space...

This is only the beginning. Our country has not only entered a new decade, it seems a new dawning era as well, because this flaming apocalypse doesn't show any sign of stopping any time soon.

And you know what saddens me? I've never seen Australian tragedies trending here on this website. I mean it's been going on for months and only now does it seem to really be getting recognized, even if it is only at #9.

And I'm going to be honest with you here - the internet, and media in general is so American centric, this website being no exception. You'd think that an entire continent being on fire for several months with devastating consequences would have more recognition, but no, it really doesn't. The most notes I've ever seen on a post about the Australian fires is at least a few thousand, and that's about it.

So just... please. If you can, with this post or any other post in regards to the fires going on down here, reblog. Because the only thing that should be spreading like wildfire, is a post about a burning country...

I wanna expand on the story of One Punch Man, because it’s an enigma even among meteoric rises to popularity of Japanese media. The writer, who goes by the pseudonym ONE, began the webcomic One Punch Man as just a way to experiment with manga software before moving onto an actual project.  After some friends saw the proto-strips they thought it was funny and he should post them.  So he did. The popularity on the series surprised him, but he kept it up, and then the updates got more stalled and slowed.  Real life pressure and needs were taking precedent and he couldn’t devote time to making webcomics and working on developing his start as a mangaka. Thus began The Plan™ he would work for about a year, doing 2-3 jobs and essentially having no time off to do anything but earn money. The goal was to save up enough money where he could spend an entire year living on the savings he had and get started as a mangaka. If he couldn’t make it? He’d quit being a mangaka forever and would focus on getting a more traditional job. In enters YUSUKE MURATA the man famous for series like Eyeshield 21, as well as doing amazingly high quality art lightning fast. While also being tremendously humble.  He gets in touch with ONE, and basically tells him. “I’m drawing this manga for you. You write, I’ll draw, and it’ll work.”  From what I’ve heard he even turned down a contract to free up time so that he could do the art for ONE’s writing.  Because he looked up to ONE’s talent as a writer and knew he could do great stuff, but his art was holding him back from success. He didn’t want a fledgling writer he admired to fail and give up because of temporary lack of artistic talent.  So, suffice to say he succeeded in convincing ONE to work together and that produced the manga serialization OPM. Which is distinct from the webcomic. Though there are a lot of similarities in their plot.   Since the success of OPM as a manga, and it’s subsequent adaption into an acclaimed anime series… ONE has continued working on his own career as a solo mangaka doing art as well.  His other series, Mob Psycho 100, shows his own art has developed. This series has also been developed into a fantastic anime adaption that manages to polish, but not supplant, ONE’s artistic and aesthetic elements.   tl;dr - random guy makes a webcomic out of test strips for software he was learning. Friends like it. It gets popular. He decides to give one crazy strong attempt at making it a career. One of the most talent artists in the manga community approaches and practically begs him for a collaboration.  He accedes and they produce one of the most iconic manga/anime of the past 5-10 years. P.S. Watch/read Mob Psycho 100. It’s fantastic.

The story of OPM is legit one of my favorite inspirational stories. Even more so because it’s one of my favorites.

Me trying not to tell random people trivia about whatever my hell brain has latched onto this month

Unstoppable force (infodumping) vs immovable object (the mortifying ordeal of admitting I enjoy things)

Okay, I’m sorry but I just feel so restless about the bushfires, I made a mini-comic. Maybe it will get a few more people to donate. I wish I could do more.  Please see http://wires.org.au if you want to help. :(
