that scene in season 2 when we think nina’s betrayed kaz is so accurate to the books (reminiscent of wylan’s “he gave them everything”), because it was another instance of “omg a plot twist that wasn’t orchestrated by kaz!” only to realize that it was, in fact, orchestrated by kaz.

Kaz Brekker bested his trauma for Inej, gave Inej her dream of warship and found Inej's parents. He offered himself without an armor, all for Inej Ghafa. Let us all just cry until we found our own Kaz Brekker /sobs;
She started forward, then turned back to Kaz. “Come with me,” she said. “Come meet them.”
Kaz nodded as if steeling himself, flexed his fingers once more.
“Wait,” he said. The burn of his voice was rougher than usual. “Is my tie straight?”
Inej laughed, her hood falling back from her hair.
“That’s the laugh,” he murmured, but she was already setting off down the quay, her feet barely touching the ground.
i want to show some fucking appreciation for amita suman. inej was most likely forced to strip in front of clients while at the menagerie. and i think amita’s acting shows that, her facial expressions in this scene show that she’s thinking of the last time she had to do this, there’s a hardness in her expression. but when she sees the kaz is turned away, his eyes averted, her gaze softens
