Okay so this post. This post is how I imagine baby Maedhros. He's surrounded by perfectly competent adults but from the instant he has Awareness of the World he decides he's going to run the household actually because everybody is taking too long to Do Stuff (due to having an adult life to keep up with.) Everybody finds it adorable and indulges him and that's how he becomes Like That™️

I'm picturing like. Tiny Nelyo making grabby hands at the messy bed nobody has bothered to make yet. Try to ignore someone Important walking in Tirion and he'll make incoherent greeting noises because he's been taught to try to say hi ONCE and applied the general idea to everything and he WILL cry if you don't stop for a proper greeting. Somebody is late for dinner and he yeets his own dinner at the person the second they cross the door so they can eat. Just an absolute nightmare of a child until he grows enough that his overeagerness to Get Stuff Done actually becomes an asset

Finwëans: The Fëanorians

4/7

Fëanor was the mightiest in skill of word and of hand, more learned than his brothers; his spirit burned as a flame. While still in his early youth he wedded Nerdanel, the daughter of a great smith named Mahtan, among those of the Noldor most dear to Aulë; and of Mahtan he learned much of the making of things in metal and in stone. Nerdanel also was firm of will, but more patient than Fëanor, desiring to understand minds rather than to master them, and at first she restrained him when the fire of his heart grew too hot; but his later deeds grieved her, and they became estranged. Seven sons she bore to Fëanor: Maedhros the tall; Maglor the mighty singer, whose voice was heard far over land and sea; Celegorm the fair, and Caranthir the dark; Curufin the crafty, who inherited most his father’s skill of hand; and the youngest Amrod and Amras, who were twin brothers, alike in mood and face. In later days they were great hunters in the woods of Middle-earth; and a hunter also was Celegorm, who in Valinor was a friend of Oromë, and often followed the Vala’s horn.

I love how most elf-mortal friendships (or other kinds of relationships, really) have the Vibe of the elf being so much wiser than the mortal, even if the elf doesn't act superior or anything

And then there's Aragorn and Legolas.

“More dangerous less wise” evaluation of dark elves is statistical error. Average silvan elf is perfectly wise and not dangerous at all. Legolas Thranduilion, who has ceded control of his single braincell to Aragorn son of Arathorn, (widely considered a good call) and whose favorite activity is killing things acrobatically, is an outlier and should not have been counted.

Silmarillion Cosplay in Hanfu(汉服)

We have thought of characters from the Silmarillion in our traditional Chinese Hanfu so we've worked for a long time to make it happen. Finally we did this! We did worry that it would be weird for these characters in eastern Asian costumes but it turns out that it looks ok for us.

Thank you so much to everyone in this project, especially cosplayers and photographers!

Cast:

Maedhros/ Celegorm/ Feanor/ Fingolfin: 云启

Fingon/ Aredhel: Ehtele

Galadriel/ Turgon: 雪饼

Finrod/ Earendil: Rey

Anaire: 翡翠

Miriel: 随音(me)

P.S. Funny things in details😉

A while ago, some friends and I were talking about Tolkien and I thought it’d be fun to redesign Middle Earth- inspired by Asian designs! So here’s Galadriel, inspired by Mughal and Qing fashion.  I kept her Noldorin descent in mind, the crafting and the power, and also the colour of her hair since that’s such a plot point. Also pretty much the reason behind her Sindarin name hur.
