They were all funny until the kid got detention for BEING RIGHT.
The one time I was sent to the principal’s office was in third grade when I told the teacher that ½ + 1/3 was actually 5/6 and not 2/5 like she said it was
A teacher once argued with me in front the whole class insisting that pineapples grew on pine trees.
2015 in a nutshell
Everything that happened is somewhere in that nut
9 Lessons I Learnt the Hard Way in 2015
1. Sleep is so so crucial to maintaining/achieving good marks and health - both mentally and physically. Rest is important, feeling drained 24/7 is not fun at all
2. Get it right the first time. Don’t slack off on notes or classwork, pay attention the first time to save time and effort the second time. It does wonders for your revision and cuts study time down dramatically, work smart
3. Regular revision, a little bit of study every day takes the burden off once you get to exams. Even if it’s for 10 minutes, it’s better than nothing
4. Get started. Sit yourself down and force yourself to complete one or two questions even, finding motivation to start is the hardest thing to do but its the most vital step
5. Look after yourself. Avoid processed foods, maintain your fluids and go for a walk or a stretch every now and again. Light exercise is so refreshing for your mind and eating/drinking well does wonders for your alertness (and skin!).
6. Know your limits. Don’t push yourself too far trying to juggle 15 things at once, that way you won’t tire out too easily/early on. Consistency is key, there is no point in overworking at the start if you’re only going to bomb out when it counts the most
7. Stay organised. I found myself panicking over lost notes and my messy desk for far too much of 2015. Organise your papers, clear out your work space often - it really helps you concentrate and study more efficiently. Organise your time well too, leave some time to rest and relax but make sure you are productive first
8. Come back to it if you can’t focus. Don’t drag out a study session if you’re really feeling unmotivated. Move onto a different task, read, take a nap! It’s a waste of time and effort if you’re not able to commit to a task. You’re better off leaving it first, even if it’s for 10 minutes
9. Lighten up. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get the marks you want - there are always other pathways to get where you want to go. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself and remember to enjoy living; you’re young and vibrant, make the most of that! Things always manage to work out in the end, it might be a tough road but it gets better
These are so generic and we all know them but they were important points I didn’t do well in 2015 so I really wanted to write them down for 2016
