So I recently entered the Multi-Specialty Transitions Department at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, Northern California.  Here is more information regarding the services they offer.

I wanted to make a PSA that Kaiser will be continuing to offer benefits to the LGBTQIA community, specifically transgender care.  They had a notice about this in their office ( and I completely forgot to snag one unfortunately on my way out) but they made a point of mentioning that they will continue to work with transgender individuals in order to provide them with the services they need, both mental and physical.  I know that some people don’t like Kaiser, but if you are transgender, I would really recommend trying to get into Kaiser if you can. I’m not sure if any insurances will be changing their policies due to Trump’s election. He could completely undermine a lot of insurance companies policies and allow them to stop offering our community services. We don’t know. But I know for a fact that Kaiser has stated they have no plans to change their policies. And that the Gender Pathway’s Clinic and the Multi-Speciality Transition Clinic will continue to fight for our procedures within the Kaiser Administration. Employers such as Starbucks offer Kaiser Permanente as an insurance option after a certain amount of hours worked, I believe approximently 90 days, or if a certain amount of hours are worked.  They offer you a choice of quite a few different priced options that they take out of your paycheck every two weeks.  The states that currently offer Kaiser Permanente are: Northern and Southern California ( They apparently are separate so make sure you look into southern california or northern california) Colorado - Boulder/Denver Colorado - Southern Colorado ( I would call and ask what cities this includes) Georgia Hawaii

Maryland/Virginia/D.C. Ohio

California itself has both the San Francisco Gender Pathways Department and the Multi-Speciality Transitions Department in Oakland.  They are now offering Phalloplasty procedures for transgender men! THEY ARE NO LONGER REFERRING TO BROWNSTEIN&CRANE Please! Anyone who has Kaiser and wants to go to Dr. Curtis Crane or Dr. Mang Chen, Kaiser is NO LONGER referring patients out because Dr. Chen has a new microsurgeon team and because Kaiser is internalizing the procedure.

The Buncke clinic that Dr. Chen and Dr. Crane originally worked with have switched practices and are now working in conjunction with Kaiser.  One of such doctors is Dr. Bauback Safa, who for the past year, was doing procedures with Dr. Crane and Dr. Chen but he is now with Kaiser! Dr. Ali Salim of SF Kaiser has gone through approximately 2-3 years of training under the same surgeons as Dr. Brownstein and Dr. Crane. Dr. Rosenstein is the leading reconstructive urologist. They are also working with a gynecologist by the name of Dr. Weiss.  They are also now doing the Phalloplasty in TWO STAGES. They have seen an approximate 10 - 15% decrease in complications (such as fistulas and strictures) by doing the procedure this way. It is the same procedure, just split in two.  The first stage is HALF of the urethra lengthening, the vaginectomy and part of the scrotalplasty( I’m still not sure completely about the scrotalplasty so please if you have more info, let me know).  They allow about 2-3 months of healing and then they do the Free-Flap Phalloplasty, from either the arm or the thigh.  No matter what state you live in, you should be able to come to these two centers for care regarding surgery. You’re also more then welcome to also call them.  Please feel free to message me ( My name is Lucas), and I can help you get more information regarding Kaiser and these two clinics.
