chamber music by R.A.P. Ferreira (2019, Abstract Hip Hop) (his reading of Chamber Music by Amiri Baraka. Has made me cry.)
But when you remember all of your faces Blown now, gone forever in the wind You'll see that you were always wanting to be you You were always wanting to know and love yourself And you found a few faces, a few names that extended your life and other lives And as time marches, hours, days, decades dance You'll find your hand in someone else's hand You'll hear yourself thinking about some person other than you Then look up and yes There will be some other person Some closeness and echoed tenderness That makes us more than dots under the faraway
CYCLES by R.A.P. Ferreira (2020, Abstract Hip Hop)
Within the last century, art conceived as an autonomous activity has come to be invested with an unprecedented stature. The nearest thing to a sacramental human activity acknowledged by secular society. It is because one of the tasks art has assumed is making forays into and taking up positions on the frontiers of consciousness and reporting back what's there. Being a freelance explorer of spiritual dangers, the artist gains a certain license to behave differently. Matching with singularity of the vocation. They may be decked out with a suitably eccentric lifestyle, or not. Their job is to invent trophies of experience.
But things go backwards, the wrong people get placards You get a collection of spatulas, heavy brow lines Sacrificing down time for the wrong guys' good graces Shoulda held them aces and betted on self.

NEW MINERAL WEEKLY
a roundup or 'Whats Music Been Going On' u know?
1st off we had a new record from Ben Bondy again under new alias k2dj. i love this stuff, it's a lot more songlike than his other recent releases and i believe features him singing a lot. real sweet music
2ndly we have 3XL genius, bff and regular collaborator of ben bondy Special Guest DJ / Shy under an older alias, Caveman LSD. this is some deep mineral stuff, more percussive and dublike.
3rd up is another core mineral player Pontiac Streator, who is in Crimeboys with shy (above) as well as many other duos/groups/names. Yesterday they released the 4th of their ' Select Works ', absolutely loving it. seems a bit more trancey / pop than their previous installments which is cool
4th is Perila, creator of some of the softest electroacoustic textures and spacious field recordings this side of The Mineral (big week for it i gotta say) with a surprise album on Shelter Press that specialises in very textural sounds. Clicks and hums and scrapes and drones and low frequencies.
5th i just remembered that holy shit Kindtree just put something out recently, i love kindtree. kindtree is a part of All Light Hits U and Purelink.
extra: announced things yet to be released

I wish Carrie & Lowell felt less like a sucessful exercise in generating “Sadness” and more like a collection of songs that the artist cared about writing
this is so funny the guy from car seat headrest thinks Carrie & Lowell is disingenuous. next up, Elvis Depressedly on why Elliot Smith was a fraud
if posts had notes based on how much it altered a group of peoples lives forever this would have 1 million billion notes on account of the sad girl faggot indie music listeners of tumblr dot com
nearly two years later and it’s only gained 5k notes. this post has had such a profound impact on will toledo and how girlbloggers view him. stereogum wrote an article about this post and his subsequent apology. this is a historical landmark.
