Following the critically acclaimed “The Batman” (now playing in theaters), Matt Reeves is building his new universe across multiple spin-off series too on HBO Max streaming platform.
Two series are now in active development while Reeves plans what’s next (or what actually was before the Year Two of ‘The Batman’): an Arkham series and a Penguin series.

Choreographer Charissa Barton recalls that the catchy ear worm “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” by Wig Wam was in the script and early drafts, and to prep the dance moves she listened to it on repeat. James Gunn’s suggestion to her was, “think of the 1960s and 1970s variety shows for inspiration.” After Gunn giving her the green light, Barton’s challenge was taking it to the actors — but before that, she tried it out on her husband, Alan Tudyk.
Barton kept in mind that she would be working with non-dancers, so she did some research online, looking into which actors had movement training or any previous dance work. James Gunn and his creative team had one goal: to make it so interesting, engaging and funny that people wouldn’t want to skip it.
- Listen, I know when we first met, I said I thought you were a total piece of shit but... I don’t think that anymore. - No? - Eighty-five percent a piece of shit, maybe. But the rest of you is...

Sam Neill as Alan Grant JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION (2022)
Peacemaker is the stereotypical dude. He is strong and fit and bulky and he doesn't know how to make male friends without bullying and has trouble understanding and managing certain emotions and traumas. He really is The Man, and he was brought up like that by someone he wanted to be loved by. And he has said, and it has been brought up a couple of times, that he has had sex with men _because he wanted to_. He didn't have sex with men in prison forcibly, or because there was nothing else to do. He did it because he felt like it. And probably, from his father's comment, he had sex with men before prison too. Maybe with a friend or a neighbour. He may not be aware about what this means or where does it put him, but it kind of explains why he liked Adebayo and felt she was his friend: he felt safe near her the way you feel safe with people who are similar to you and you don't realise until years later that it is because you were both queer.
The fact that he is bisexual, even if he isn't aware of it or comfortable using the label, is also what makes him an interesting character to explore all the family abuse and trauma he suffered. It hasn't been spoken about, the series hasn't been about him coming out of the closet (nobody has come out of the closet, the whole series shows people comfortable with their sexuality and other people sexualities, it is what happens _after_ you come out of the closet, it is what happens if society was really that open, a real dystopia there). But if his father knew about his affairs with men, so did everyone in the neighbourhood. And that must have shaped friendships and loyalties. And bullying too. Maybe not a lot of bullying because of who his father is and because of how he is (massive, a brute, a trained killer), but certainly not trust.
His character ark works because he had already been facing a difference he has. A straight man who has never even tried to kiss another man or thought about his sexuality is less likely to question many other things. Once you start question something (I have had sex with men, what does it say about me?), you can question other things (I respected Rick Flag and I killed him because he wanted to inform people, was he right?) and other (do I want to keep on being an assassin?) and other (did I really kill my brother?).
And I personally love that it is a personal trip he makes, he chose to do it, he chose to learn (he learnt about Asian being a better term than Oriental on his own, maybe clumsily, but on his time off) and that his sexuality is not condemned, not shamed (other than by his father, but he has shamed him for everything), not explained. It is a part of him, and I believe a door he unawarely crossed.
