how to make your alts tenants to your personal home!

so, i actually learned this from a discord i’m in, but i haven’t seen a post about it here on tumblr, so i thought i’d share, because it’s super beneficial!

it’s really simple!

start off by logging into the alt you want to be tenant to your personal home. open your task manager, as well. start teleporting somewhere - anywhere! in the spare moments before your teleport casts, force-quit out of the game.

immediately get back in the game, but this time, log into your character with the house. player search your alt, who should, if you quit the game in time, still be logged on, and send a friend request! it’s actually that easy, i was surprised.

then, clearly, log onto the alt, accept the friend request, then log onto your main, make them tenant, and voila!

access on your alts to your personal!

I had to do some extra noodling because my client wasn’t closing fast enough. This thread on reddit has some good tips if it’s not working for you through the task manager. 

tl;dr: Use command prompt to kill the process instantly instead of task manager, and try teleporting to a place you haven’t loaded into yet in your current play session (Gridania to Kugane worked for me). 

Long story short, my girlfriend ( @pudgy-puk​ ) and I need to find funds on short notice to replace a computer that got smashed up while travelling. The airline may end up paying up in the end but it turns out that doing computer-based work without a computer is really kind of difficult! And not having a computer for the 500 years or so it’s going to take them to actually look at claims would be kind of inconvenient.

i have been thinking a lot lately about lizert costume design. because all the important leader types of the three important tribes (sadu, temulun, cirina, and magnai) do diverge some from their people’s three-primary-color-coded uniform. sadu is just wearing shorter shorts and different sandals, temulun and cirina wear the same robe as the rest of the mol, just dyed white and pink (respectively) rather than red… but then there’s magnai. the most radiant brother magnai, The Sun, azim’s chosen, ruling over a people who revere the sun and consider themselves the descendants of him and dress the part, is walking around himself all in dark, drab, colorless blacks and greys. and i’m sure part of the reason is to do with needing magnai to seem intimidating and impressive to the players, as the standard oroniri get up is …very much not that, but it certainly would have been possible to preserve the uh. sunny qualities while making him scarier. and yet, no! the only sunny yellow and golden things about magnai’s character design are his eyes, the highlights in his (very dark) hair, and the glowing gold cracks in his axe, and when one has a sun-themed character who is mostly dark and colorless except for little golden bits, what kinda–

So during a radio interview, Yoshida gave out an answer for a similar request. Below is the JP, and I’ll put a translation beneath it. It’s not out of the question, but hard, from what I understand.

For example, could it be possible to implement something like a Moogle Mog Smoking Candy (a stick type candy that has a Moogle motif, and when put in the mouth would emit a nice scent) instead?

I think this would be possible under the regulations. As long as there’s a descriptor (something in the industry agreement that would mark this as OK)…

Smoking is actually fine and during ARR we had planned for Cid to be smoking an electrical cigarette (Garland Ironworks Brand) but the implementation costs couldn’t be met.

If that had become a reality the Cid model electrical cigarette goods could have been made.

As the world is strict on smokers, it is rather hard.

Just like in the question, “something that has a nice scent” may be possible.

This is fun we’ll be thinking on it.

So I roleplay a male au ra in a female model and had joined a Xaela rp discord channel. A member there asked if I could even do that when I answered that there were NPCs that were already like that. They didn’t believe me, told me I was lore bending by making a smaller stature male au ra, and suggested I make my character half aura half hyur instead. I told them I wasn’t going to change my character and I wasn’t asking permission to play my character how I was.

Here is an NPC that is cannonly a male au ra in the female model. You can find him at the north gate of Reunion.

Please stop policing how people roleplay. If you don’t like what they do, simply don’t roleplay with them.
