Hi, I'm Isablooo 🍓, I'm a Jamaican-British artist who loves Gothic literature, historical fashion, fantasy and mythology! I mostly draw my original characters and fanart of books I love, but I aspire to make webcomics!

Webcomic projects:

♥  I'm currently working on my first comic project, 'Dracula's Guest', which will be a short prequel to Dracula! It follows Jonathan Harker's adventures as he travels through Munich and is based on Stoker's working notes and the deleted second chapter. You can follow my side blog for this comic @draculasguestcomic

♥ My next project will be a webcomic adaptation of my favourite book, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley! To get a taste, please check out my #frankenstein tag or my #isabelledrawslit tag for my other book fanart!

My true pride and joy are my original story projects:

♥  My Gothic vampire story, Séverine's Perfumery is about a vampire perfumier as she goes about her daily life in the fashionable city of Verdeux.

♥  My longest and most ambitious project is my fantasy epic, Search for Quintessence, about a young hill-folk girl called Orolin who wishes to find out the secrets of the God's magic, known as 'the Quintessence.' It's been my passion project for years and I can't wait to make it into a fully fledged comic!

I suddenly got overwhelmed with the urge to draw Johann in gaiters! 😳

Hes a priest so I don't know why he would wear these, to my understanding they were mostly worn by huntsmen and soldiers to protect their boots. Maybe he can wear them when he goes out to collect supplies for his (forbidden) research 👁👁 Also, for context, Johann lodges at Séverine's shop so she doesn't want his dour appearance scaring off customers lol

This is what gaiters are btw! They're used to cover boots to protect them from mud and such (ngl I think the first image are just boots in a similar style but they inspired me to draw this in the first place so I'm including them)

Ladies, gentleman and others: Zhao Feiyan!!

They're a merchant who provides Séverine with enchanted crystals to use in her perfumes! Unlike Séverine's other closest vampire friend Porphyry, Feiyan is very chill and laid-back and they're the youngest vampire in the story (they're only around a hundred). The three of them make a fun trio!

Got so many good graveyard photo references for Dracula's Guest in Edinburgh!!! They have a lot of graveyards/kirkyards with very fancy mausoleums- since it was common for grave-robbers to sell bodies to the medical school, richer families would take measures to protect their deceased relatives with barred mausoleums etc

#I thought gaiters were called spatterdashes (like spats) at first#but that's only the name for the short versions. The thigh high ver are gaiters (much less cool name)#johann can wear these for when hes trudging thru graveyards >: )#the way I drew the gaiters kinda look like emo leg warmers haha#tho I dont think johann is emo in an intentional or fashion-forward enough way for those lol!#johann's main fit are just his acolyte robes (he's an excommunicated priest) - his sect dress in solemn black robes#so he's just wearing what he knows but hes also a v goth person in general#severine's perfumery#historical fashion inspo#johann von moller#gaiters

I like to believe that this was going to be the proposal (when Mina said he called her Wilhelmina for the first time). It tracks because he's on the last stages of the deal and he's staying in London for the house hunt, where we learn he got word that he passed his exam. Also eventful enough for Kate to want to tell the story.

Yess I've heard that interpretation before as well! It's a good one, though Jonathan proposing to Mina while she's at work is so funny to me jdjdjd
