About The Blog
Hello!! My name is Atticus (he/him/his), and I'm a herpetologist with years of snake and reptile keeping experience, including with reptile rescue/fostering and professional reptile education. I have been trained in wild snake identification and safe handling, and I have years of experience keeping pet snakes as well.
I have a Ko-fi! 100% of all tips go to my rescue snakes, and are used on vet bills, food, and enclosure upkeep.

The Purpose of This Blog
Snakes get a bad rep. We can all agree on this, right? My goal here is to help identify misinformation, dangerous behaviors (to people and snakes), or harmful snake keeping practices.
Snakes are awesome, but I'm sure you've heard the saying "the only good snake is a dead snake." I see many videos of wild and pet snakes being mistreated, and I hope that, through education, I can help more people realize that the only good snake is a live snake.
Please feel free to tag me or send me any videos you'd like me to see!
Ratings
Always feel free to ask questions about a rating or come to me with any concerns! Videos are rated as:
Cute: for pet snakes, the snake seems happy and healthy, and isn't in any danger. For wild snakes, the snake is either being left alone or handled responsibly and respectfully by a professional.
Not Cute: this might be a video of someone handling a non-venomous wild snake, or showing a pet snake in a stressful situation.
Dangerous: this rating is for dangerous practices such as free-handling a venomous snake, handling a giant snake (over 10 feet) without backup, or wrapping a large snake around someone's neck.
Harmful: this rating is for when I believe a snake is actively in danger or is being kept seriously inappropriately.
Uncertain: this rating is for when I am not able to make an accurate determination due to lack of context, length, or any other factors.
Questions?
Always feel free to send 'em in! I'd be happy to answer any general snake questions you've got. I can also do wild snake identifications (especially if you live in the Southern United States).
