Lets talk about this.

Absolutely. The Electoral College functions to stand in the way of the will of the people, as expressed through their votes, and who gets into elected office.

It’s obsolete.

So, let’s talk about it.

1.) If the GOP were the “silent majority” they claim, they wouldn’t be so scared of a popular vote.

They know they aren’t the majority. They rely on establishing minority rule for power.

2.) This common claim about “if we don’t have the Electoral College then a handful of states will determine the presidency” is BS. A.) It’s the EC itself that breaks down power by state; popular vote decentralizes it. B.) The EC makes it so a handful of states do determine elections.

3.) Lastly, this concept that the EC provides “fairness” to rural Americans over coastal states doesn’t hold any water whatsoever. First of all, virtually every state has rural communities. New York. California. Much of our states are rural.

But very importantly…

4.) We do not give electoral affirmative action to any other group in America. Do Black Americans have their votes count more because they have been disenfranchised for hundreds of years? Do Reservations get an electoral vote? Do Puerto Rico and U.S. territories get them? No. They don’t.

5.) The EC isn’t about fairness at all; it’s about empowering some voters over others.

Every vote should be = In America, no matter who you are or where you come from. The right thing to do is establish a popular vote, and the GOP will do everything they can to fight it.” End caption.

Wow this moment.

When my father came out to me as gay, I was eight, but I understood, roughly, because I had seen THIS ONE EPISODE of The Golden Girls. 

I think I actually said “Oh, like on the Golden Girls.”  Which was not what he was expecting. But this show made it super simple for me to understand that:

And that, under the circumstances, was all that I really needed to understand that his coming out was a big deal, important and scary for him, but also something to respect and support, even if it meant changing our family.

So yay for sharing this iconic moment during pride.

I figure out I had ADHD last year, but I didn’t seek an official diagnosis and medication until this year. I’m 30 years old, my school days are long behind me. I slipped through the cracks because I have predominately inattentive type and I was a quiet little girl. Having ADHD does not mean you have to be hyperactive and loud, it means you have a processing problem in your brain that doesn’t allow you to regulate your focus or emotions. 

Mental health even now is still taboo to talk about. People are more open now than ever about it however and that gives me hope. 

This is a profoundly personal comic and it only reflects my own experience with ADHD. It is on a spectrum with a wide range of personalities. But if my story connects with someone else and helps them, that would mean the world to me.

THE WITCHER NETFLIX (2019– )

You know, it’s weird and interesting to see a fight between male and female characters where gender doesn’t play a roll in the staging. It might play a role in the story, I haven’t seen the show, but like…look at them. It’s not just that she’s not being sexualized, it’s that neither of them are holding back. While it’s true that her fighting style seems to relying more using speed and dexterity than his, it’s nowhere near the “Waif Fu” style we see with some female fighters like River Tam. I feel like you could sub in a smaller man to fight Henry Cavill and the staging would be exactly the same, and that’s pretty neat. From the point of view of the choreographer, it’s not about the fact that one of them’s a man and the other a woman, it’s about the fact that these are two characters doing their unholy best to murder and/or beat the hell out of each other. And that’s what fight scenes SHOULD be about, in my opinion. XD

Which makes sense as Henry says in an interview it was (one of?) the best fight scenes he’s ever done. I remember distinctly he used the term privilege in regards to shooting with her.
