Politics is one thing, but I get the idea that when people criticise South Park for "teaching a whole generation not to care about anything", they mean everything. But that's never the case with South Park, that you shouldn't care. It's a very caring show.

But it's that's probably true that politics is probably what they tend to be most cynical about.

I don’t blame them as an american I myself have become very cynical towards our politicans  and have come to believe our democracy is just an illusion since a true free country would allow third party options but ours pushes them to the side and were forced to choose between to corrupt systems.. only one just went completely batshit insane.. and im waiting for the dems to do something and am just disappointed.. i have zero faith in our poltical system to fix any of my countrys problems at this point

The most important thing that the dictatorship in my country has taught me is that bad people in power will want you to treat them cynically, nihilistically and dehumanizingly. Because in this case you will not interfere with them, but only complain. I have seen people gradually become more and more disillusioned with democracy, allowing institutions they did not believe in to be destroyed. Why vote if it doesn't affect anything? Anyway, in the end, instead of one corrupt talking head, another will come. And in general, voices will be faked anyway. Why should we come out to protest against the government's takeover of a popular TV channel? Anyway, it belonged to the oligarch who robbed us in the 90s. Why do we need an independent court, which is already corrupt? Nothing will change if the state subjugates it. And so on. That's why I don't like this kind of logic. Never and nowhere will there be a holy man in politics. The vast majority of people are greedy and selfish and think only about their own benefit. If they are not interfered with by any means (even if they seem to you not very effective), then they will exploit you.

Interesting trivia: The third opening of Kimagure Orange Road shocked many animation otaku at the time of its release. In addition to being one long continuous take, it features several rotating shots, something very difficult and time-consuming to render via hand-drawn animation. This level of effort was practically unheard of for a weekly television series in 1988, and to this day it’s considered one of the more technically laborious anime openings ever made.
