Some of the reasons I I ship Lucaya over Rilucas
I feel like Rilucas *could* (at least in season 1) be one of those cheesy girl meets boy falls desperately in love at first sight things. They would be a perfect couple, oh so in love…..
But, I feel like Lucaya would continue to be constantly challenging each other while still being completely in love, and super protective over each other. Not that Rilucas wouldn’t be protective, idk I just see Lucas being more “fired up” for Maya.
For me *personally* I tend to go for the less “perfect” couple. It would get boring for the love to never really have any bumps. I feel like Rilucas would be one of those imaginary couples that somehow never fights–even Corpanga fights.
I also see Lucas and Maya having a little bit of the the “fight and have hot makeup….ummm….kissing"😉 at least at this point (they’re not even freshmen).
I know some people don’t like the teasing….but that’s honestly one of my favorite parts. Honestly I kinda flirt the same way. With guys I like I joke around, mess with them, and try not to look like I’m flirting that much.
Overall to me Lucaya just seems more natural. Their chemistry is just there. And BELIEF. Rilucas: Why do I need you? They don’t challenge each other, or make them expand their horizons….but you know who does? Lucaya (and Riarkle)
To me Lucaya just has so much more passion than Rilucas could. Perfection is boring. Clichés are boring. And at this point, I think the show is going for Lucaya (and Riarkle).
Feel free to disagree, but I think *romantic* Rilucas ended when their first date did. They didn’t want to talk about it or go on another date. They weren’t like "crushed-out” awkward, they were more “uncomfortable” awkward.
There is semi formal, but let me point out that at the dance in Father, he wore a cowboy hat and brought a rose for Maya, and couldn’t even bother to bring a rose or yogi on skates for his unofficial girlfriend Riley….or even ASK HER!
Also with Rilucas, there is so much “supposed to” and “should we” and “mr perfect/princess” IDEALISM. Riley is great but she is NOT a “complete ray of sunshine” and Lucas is NOT perfect. They have flaws…but Lucas only sees the princess and Riley only wants the knight in shining armor. She doesn’t want his dark sides and he doesn’t really see deeper into her past the sunshiny facade.
Whereas Lucas and Maya didn’t even kiss, but she admitted she liked him (after he pushed and PUSHED 😏) and they went on 2 dates in one day. She poured a smoothie on his head and kicked him and he was so happy to be out with her that he just smiled and sat with her. He went past Riley to sit with her on New Years. Played the couples’ game with her. Used a cute “line” on the roof: “I was savin it” He follows her around like a lovesick puppy, makes speeches about wanting her to be happy, INITIATES their moments….I could go on but I don’t think I have to.
They challenge each other. They’re passionate. They flirt. They care about each other/want each other to be happy. They’re protective. They change each other. They almost kissed, not on a date or in a forced setting, but swept up in a passionate moment. He pushes her, and she pushes him. They help each other. It’s not a triangle. She likes him (and he likes her). They CHOSE ON THEIR OWN to go on dates. The way they look at each other. They were together at midnight. He has chosen her over Riley multiple times. HE LETS HER! He plays with his pencil when he’s nervous around her. They “contain” each other. HAHURRR. Yearbook “hey hi”.
I’m stopping there or else I’ll be here all night…but you get my point.
