I find it so funny to think about how in-universe people expected Obi-Wan to be the hero of A New Hope. He's this great General from the Clone Wars, a brilliant warrior and tactician - seeking him out is this very significant hail mary. And instead of swooping in and saving the day like he used to, he makes this totally unknown kid Official Protagonist in his stead and swaps the expected Deus Ex Machina for a Hero's Journey. It's so bonkers. People thought Obi-Wan was their (only) hope and bam, he hits them with the new one and peaces out. The opposite of main character syndrome.

It's like he read the script and went "oh dear, you're all mistaken, this story isn't actually about me," and everyone had to trust him on that.

this is a confession to the star wars fandom because I have to get this off my chest. last summer just for fun I taught myself to read aurebesh and. you fanartists have Got to Continue putting the most Hilarious stuff into the background of your art because it is literally my favorite thing

here’s a couple of excellent things I’ve read since I started keeping a list just last month:

- “I hate drawing lightsabers”

- “Idk what to put here”

- “stupid fucking sign”

- “eat paste, it’s good”

- an entire news article on a phone screen which I actually found really impressive

- a few funny misspellings but the best one so far was ahsoka somehow becoming “asock”

- wanted poster of obi wan that read “wanted for fashion crimes”. the caption translated it as “wanted for high treason”. like blatantly lying to my face. love it.

- door on a ship was labeled “cake storage”

- “shopping list: frogs, hair gel, lightsaber polish”

and my personal favorite:

- “if you’re reading this you’re a fucking nerd”

cutting child porn from ao3 is not going to be a ‘slippery slope’ to full blown ‘censorship’, you guys are just pedophiles

There is no child porn on AO3. That is a false statement perpetuated by pro censorship groups in order to promote their repressive goals. 

Child pornography is pornographic material (images, videos etc) of actual children. That is why it is illegal to produce, transmit, or possess. Because it involves the sexual abuse, assault and exploitation of ACTUAL REAL CHILDREN. 

AO3 is a US website that abides by US law. US law prohibits any involvement whatsoever with child porngraphy -  possession, creation, transmission etc. If there was child pornography on AO3 not only would the website be taken down but everyone involved would be in prison. This has not happened because there is no child pornography on the site. 

There are some fictional stories on AO3 that include fictional sex scenes between fictional characters who are underage. But that is not child porgraphy and is legal. Just the way Game of Thrones has sex scenes involving underage characters but that’s legal because in real life the actors and actresses are all legal adults. It is legal because no actual children are harmed. 

Actual children are harmed though when pro censorship people pull stunts like trying to report AO3 to the FBI for child pornography. While these complaints did not result in any actions against AO3 because there was no child pornography it means that time that could have been used to investigate real claims about real child pornography that put real children in harms way was wasted. And that hurts children.

But these people don’t care about children. They don’t even care about banning fictional subject matter that depicts underage sex. If they did they would be campaigning equally hard against HBO for airing Game of Thrones and George RR Martin for writing A Song of Ice and Fire both of which include underage sex scene as well as other dark subject material like rape. What they really care about it claiming the moral high ground to justify harassment campaigns and censorship of marginalized communities.

Bedrock is having a mayoral election. One of the candidates is a violent war mongering asshole that riles people up against the lizard people. This reminds Fred and Barney of their time in the army.

Back then the father of said violent candidate was riling people up against the “tree people”. Fred, Barney, and other soldiers fought what they believed to be a defensive measure against the tree people. Turns out, it was actually an invasion, in order to kill off the tree people and take over their forest to build Bedrock.

That’s what Fred means when he says he and Barney participated in a genocide. They literally did.

(Extra fun fact, Barney adopted a tree person baby after the war, and his son Bamm-Bamm is the last tree person.)

Soooo many trans girls on r/traa would seek validation for having had a "nazi phase". Not because they were proud of it, but because they wanted confirmation that it was a normal thing to go through. I was horrified when I saw that it wasn't an isolated incident but instead passed off almost like a joke between friends! "It's normal to have a nazi phase right? Everyone had one right?" Granted, there were people who would speak up about this and correctly call people out for it. It doesn't seem to be as common now but still... Reddit is a cesspit of misery and bigotry.
