Mercy of the Fire:

When Crabbe kills Dumbledore and is allowed to name his prize, Draco is sent into hiding with the only person willing to offer him help. Harry promises there is nowhere safer than Privet Drive, but Draco has never felt so exposed. Or: Wizard school rivals are on the run from a pack of werewolves, and there was only one bed.

New Chapter out soon! Get caught up now!

Mercy of the Fire is even more incredible than its title collage which is a feat in and of itself.

It’s so hard to gush without spoiling but suffice to say it’s the most unique and intriguing spin on a new villain I’ve read in the HP fandom.

If you like dark fiction and have ever wondered about the less watered down version of the Death Eaters, their culture, their hierarchy, give Mercy a try.

It’s a gripping and immersive power struggle from the first word.

Current headcanon

6 year old lawyer in the making, Amane Bakura, laying out a case for why Santa isn’t real and Pegasus Why-The-Fuck-Did-I-Create-A-Children’s-Card-Game Crawford flying by the seat of his pants through a flawless explanation for every loophole.

Ryou is apologizing for his sister but Pegasus loves the challenge.

Flawless addition. Ryou is getting progressively more embarrassed because Pegasus is a 10 time champion of “are you more stubborn than a six year old” and by the end of it Ryou is begging Amane to give up.

“Maybe all there is to do, my dear girl, is leave milk and cook—“

“A-HA, that’s proof!”

“What, pray tell, is it proof of?”

“That you’re making up Santa! Japanese Santa would be LACTOSE INTOLERANT.”

“Who am I to taste test Santa’s milk? It may be almond or oat milk, I, myself, set out hot cocoa.”

“If he’s fat, how does he fit down a chimney? And also what if there /is/ no chimney?”

“He uses magic, of course.”

“That’s not how magic works!”

“Is too.”

“Call your witnesses!”

Me: I’m going to be a quiet, unseen blob in the comfort of my house.

My cat demanding the window be opened at 4:30AM: no.

I find this fascinating so please reblog if you want and tell me in the tags where you’re from and:

What you call dachshunds

What you typically eat for breakfast

What you call it when it’s raining really hard

A phrase or expression that reminds you or your childhood

It’s weird to think that some people aren’t daydreaming 24/7 and creating all kinds of stories and worlds in their heads. Do you mean that when you’re listening to music or walking somewhere your mind is just blank? Sounds weird.

Within the Hollow Crown

Lucius failed at the Ministry, and Draco is sent to Hogwarts with a cryptic warning that he will be tasked with an unknown mission. He expects to spend his sixth year on prefect rounds with Pansy and finally beating Potter on the Quidditch Pitch. He never expected his new roommate to be Voldemort himself, or that Voldemort’s obsession with trophies would apply to him.

A canon-divergence of HBP, told from the perspective of Voldemort, Draco, and Harry.

Chapter Ten now up! Read here.

Someone please screech with me about the new chapter!

i think we should normalize hopping into other people’s comment threads on ao3. one of the joys of livejournal was seeing something in someone else’s comment that sparked a thought about a character or the fic and adding onto it (whether with actual additional thoughts or an “i loved that part too” or just exclamation points). amazing feeling as a writer to get to eavesdrop on other people talking to each other about your fic. nice for readers to develop a feeling of community and running into each other in different fics. opportunity for more emails from ao3 for all.

The best part of Glass was watching everyone rave with @intheshadowofsignificance about it.

Guys please send all of your Glass feels and questions to @bellamy-taft so I can relive this absolute era of elite fanfiction.

and the thrilling sequel: i consumed a media months ago and you are still hearing about it

and the third instalment: I consumed a media years ago and you are still hearing about it

and the eagerly awaited fourth instalment: I haven't even consumed the media yet and you're already hearing about it

"what advice do you have for new writers?" well i could say the typical (but important!) "practice" "read books" but my PERSONAL advice as someone who's been writing since he was a toddler is as follows: feel every emotion u can & touch every texture u can & search for obscure facts or antiquated words or animal behavior or something you wouldn't normally think about. the most arbitrary things can bring inspiration. branch out! leave your comfort zone and seek things that are new & unknown to you. learn to find wonder and beauty in some aspect of the world, but hopefully many aspects. learn how to be patient tbh. fall in any kind of love with anything. most importantly treat yourself with kindness and care and forgiveness - i get wanting to write about pain, trust me, but also trust me, your writing will evolve as your perception of yourself softens. oh yeah and always have a pen on you

Any chance for Echo spoilers?

This is an awesome one! I’ll answer any specific questions you have, I know it’s taken me an obscenely long time to even get this far and I really appreciate your patience and interest.

What I can say is this: Echo is a long character study for everyone involved. The point was to explore a lot of avenues of madness.

Being captive to dark magic, an island, a madman, a delusion. You name it.

A huge theme of the echo chamber at Duelist Kingdom (pun intended) is that everything Pegasus feels and is rooted in, from violence, to contempt, to vengeance, to love, is insatiable. Everyone he interacts with is similarly insatiable, right?

They have to demand and unravel more details for any hope of getting out. They are relentlessly and desperately seeking information, and he is just as relentlessly and desperately withholding it.

There’s a constant tug of war between loathing and coveting, wanting and needing, breaking and bending /so/ much, because he/the captives just want something to be enough.

But it isn’t.
