Really fucking sucks to cross the fucking country and almost die several times for one of the households to be uh. Not Okay To Live With
I'm back out west trying to figure shit out so I'm not homeless in two weeks because apparently my brain injury refuses to let me be around my mom for more than two hours without incredible damage and I can't go east back to where I got fucked out of thousands of dollars that I worked for
Fuck it. Hi I'm Cas, I'm an autistic trans man, and I have no idea where I'm going to sleep after June 12th! My work and housing plans fell through for out east because of major bullshit (including but not limited to not getting paid for the work I've done) so I'm back out west and I've been couch hopping for the last few weeks but that can't last. I also can't go back to my old house because of my health issues and I really can't work or do anything if just being around my mom exacerbates my brain injury to the point I can't talk or move.
If anyone could toss something my way or share this so I can hopefully get enough together for a deposit on an apartment or bribe someone into letting me stay with them that'd be great. I really don't want to be homeless again and it'd break the "need a roof to get a job, need a job to get a roof" cycle

It's Pride Month, please consider helping my bisexual trans ass out🤘🤘🤘
Update! My ass is gonna be on the street on the 13th!
Good news is, I have an on paper address to at least get in touch with social services and be able to apply for a bed in a safe but already overbooked shelter as well as health insurance and work/school of some sort once the insurance comes through.
Bad news is! I still have no safe place to sleep. I'm trying to be able to get a cheap used but still usable car so I can at least use a rest stop for somewhat safe sleeping as well as make it to appointments and work/school when that happens
I fuckin hate being at this point but it's what I got and I'm just trying to be able to get work and make a life, anything is appreciated

it's not even cringe; it's just personal and unpolished and you've been taught to flinch away from vulnerability which doesn't mock itself
Y'all ever get so excited about a scientific paper you're reading that you get chills???
So I thought to myself
Huh, a lot of our invasive species come from China and Japan
And then I thought, huh, I should look up what Kudzu is like in its natural habitat
And I found this article by a team of scientists investigating the history of Kudzu in China
And ohhhhh my goddddd. I'm vibrating with excitement over how cool this is.
The first bombshell that turned my brain inside out:
KUDZU IS NOT WILD. IT IS SEMI-DOMESTICATED.
In China, Kudzu has been a fundamentally important plant for food and textiles throughout history. We have Kudzu cloth that is 6,000 years old!
THIS PLANT CLOTHED AND FED ONE OF THE MOST POPULOUS AND MOST ENDURING HUMAN CULTURES ON EARTH
and in turn
HUMANS SHAPED AND SELECTED FOR ITS TRAITS
*AND*
in its natural range, humans are the main "predator" of kudzu
"Harvest by humans appears to be the major control mechanism in its native areas."
Kudzu is like that because it co-evolved with humans.
WHAT
YALL
This means
That Kudzu is so highly invasive because—just like most plants evolved to be grazed by herbivores and/or eaten by caterpillars, keeping them in balance with everything else—Kudzu basically evolved to be harvested by humans
The other half of the ecological partnership that keeps Kudzu in balance with everything else isn't a caterpillar or a hoofed beast. It's us.
Wait, you can spin kudzu? Why aren't we harvesting and marketing this as the newest eco friendly fiber for hand spinners in the US? The market may be small, but I guarantee you with the "spin" that you can use your hobby to fight invasive plants and save the earth that people would pay money to have it sent to them.
Someone send me a sample of kudzu bark and I'll do some research on how they got the spinnable fiber out of it.
Of *course* someone has figured it out already:
http://fiberhousecollective.com/invasive-fiber-study-group/2021/12/5/meeting-1-weaving-with-kudzu-amp-bast-fiber-processing
If you live in areas with kudzu, go get some and spin it!
Hell yeah
…Well whaddaya know. !!!

i can't watch movies containing naval warfare for the same reason some horse lovers can't watch historic war movies where horses get shot
yes, i know the cannonballs aren't real. yes, i understand the ships are only pretending to sink. and yet, I am distress
Don't worry! The boats just turn into submarines when the sink! They don't actually take any damage, they just travel underwater to get a snack for being such good boats!
logically i know this, but it's still reassuring to hear someone say it out aloud
And! When they do a really really really good job they are given boat belly rubs! and an extra warm boat bath! I am glad I could be of help to reassure you my friend!
why do we praise boats like this boats are an invasive species and danger to the ocean and all of its natural wildlife like sharks and shipwreaks
okay wow that is a MASSIVE generalization, the boat genus has evolved over thousands of years and consists of hundreds of subspecies many of which are perfectly capable of living as part of a balanced aquatic ecosystem. boats aren't automatically evil just because *you personally* think they're big and scary.
@is-the-boat-video-cute your professional opinion?
Rating: Cute!
While there are invasive boat species (see: most species of yacht), most species of boat are fully acclimated to their environment!
this is my favourite genre of Tumblr post
what can i say tumblr loves shipping
I want to make people see how much has been taken away from them.
Did you know that there are dozens of species of fireflies, and some of them light up with a blue glow? Did you know about the moths? There are thousands of them, bright pink and raspberry orange and checkerboard and emerald. They are called things like Black-Etched Prominent, Purple Fairy, Pink-Legged Tiger, Small Mossy Glyph and Black-Bordered Lemon.
Did you know that there are moths that feed on lichens? Did you know about the blue and green bees? The rainbow-colored dogbane beetles? Your streams are supposed to teem with newts, salamanders, crawdads, frogs, and fishes. I want to take you by the hand and show you an animal you've never seen before, and say, "This exists! It's real! It's alive!"
There are secret wildflowers that no website will show you and that no list entitled "native species to attract butterflies!" will name. Every day I'm at work I see a new plant I didn't know existed.
The purple coneflowers and prairie blazing star are a tidepool, a puddle, and there is an ocean out there. There are wildflowers that only grow in a few specific counties in a single state in the United States, there are plants that are evolved specifically to live underneath the drip line of a dolomite cliff or on the border of a glade of exposed limestone bedrock. Did you know that different species of moss grow on the sides of a boulder vs. on top of it?
There are obscure trees you might have never seen—Sourwood, Yellowwood, Overcup Oak, Ninebark, Mountain Stewartia, Striped Maple, American Hophornbeam, Rusty Blackhaw, Kentucky Coffeetree. There are edible fruits you've never even heard of.
And it is so scary and sad that so many people live and work in environments where most of these wondrous living things have been locally extirpated.
There are vast tracts of suburb and town and city and barren pasture where a person could plausibly never learn of the existence of the vast majority of their native plants and animals, where a person might never imagine just how many there are, because they've only ever been exposed to the tiny handful of living things that can survive in a suburb and they have no reason to extrapolate that there are ten thousand more that no one is talking about.
It's like being a fish that has lived its whole life in a bucket, with no way of imagining the ocean. The insects in your field guide are a fraction of those that exist, of all the native plants to your area only a handful can be bought in a nursery.
Welcome to the Earth! It's beautiful! It's full of life! More things are real and beautiful and alive than a single person could imagine!!!
Something I've learned about Tumblr is that the longer you're here, the more likely it is that you'll learn of a user who has, entirely unbeknownst to you, been nursing an overwhelmingly powerful grudge against you for several years.
what if we were two deep-sea shrimp and we were young and in love and we entered a venus' flower basket sponge and formed a symbiotic relationship with the sponge in which it gave us protection in exchange for us cleaning it. and by the time we grew older we became too big to leave the sponge so we had to live there for the rest of our lives. but it was okay because we had each other and we had love and that was all that mattered. what would you do
What do you mean killing isn't an act of devotion
they call it committing murder because it's a commitment. it's a more serious commitment than marriage
