having depression is just so tricky. My friends only see the facade I put up for them as being bubbly and goofy because depression isn’t easy to understand or explain if you don’t have it, so when I go through my extreme depressive episodes, I shut people out and just want to stay home but they take it the wrong way and assume I’m just not interested in being friends anymore or think I don’t care anymore so they detach and we just sort of drift away. I would say something but it would make me feel even more embarrassed that I feel this way. Plus, they’re probably better off not having my stupid sad self in their life
