Update:

I am 34 chapters in, almost halfway done what I've planned for the first book. So, I'd say it's going well.

Just a teeny update, since I do need to get back into writing Fall Through Time. I am now on chapter 48 of my original work, and I think it's going swimmingly. Also, magic systems are fun.

Another update! Currently 53 chapters in. Current total is estimated to be about 72 chapters including two epilogues! It's mind-boggling that I am almost 3/4 of the way done.

Goal is to finish the story by end of the month and then get back to my fanfics. They are calling my name! I physically cannot do both because I used my OC's name instead of Hermione's the other day when I tried 💀

I have 11 chapters left. That's doable. Right?

OKAY, possible final update.

I have one chapter left, and the first draft of my original novel shall be COMPLETE.

Afterwards, whilst I am making all my blog content and going through revisions I am aiming to get back to my fanfics, so YAY!

Current total is still 72 chapters, and I have ONE left. Boggles the mind, but I am beyond excited.

The number of words in your fic or in your chapter has absolutely nothing to do with the story you're telling. Give five different writers the same plot and one will write it in 100K and another will write it in 1K and the rest will fall somewhere in between.

How many words it takes you to reach the end isn't the point. The point is telling the story you want to tell in the way that you want to tell it.

Measure your own enjoyment, not your word count. You're not Charles Dickens. You're not getting paid in happy for each additional word.

Fuck might be the most versatile word in the English language.

fanfiction isn’t a genre, it’s a medium, and there’s a huge spectrum of quality and intent within fanfiction

it would be ridiculous to judge a fic posted just for fun by the same standards as professionally published fiction. it would also be disingenuous to say that no fic can be well-crafted and to a similar standard as professionally published fiction. making generalisations about fanfiction will always ignore a lot of nuance!
