The way some men talk about women is crazy “I just want someone to wait at the door when I get home and be happy to see me, is that too much to ask?” Bitch just get a dog???
I think what just gets me at the end of the day is that they’re so determined for women to be both the cause and solution to all their problems that they’re unable to reflect and work on their issues in a meaningful way. They can’t say “Im lonely due to a variety of factors and this makes me feel bad, what steps can I take to fix this?” Instead they go “Im lonely because women don’t act the way I want them to and this makes me feel bad, women should take steps to fix this since it’s their fault”
And this both fuels their pessimism and misogyny and it reduces their ability to reflect and work on their problems. This increases their reliance on women which turns into this weird viscous cycle of hate and failure
You would think that their hatred for women would make them wanna be self-sufficient and not rely on women in this ridiculous way. But through their own insecurity and helplessness they created this conundrum where a woman is both a status symbol, a thing that should be owed to them AND someone who holds ultimate power over them by refusing their demands. The enemy is both strong and weak

Number 6 is a Snakestone!!
Ammonites are common in Whitby, England. When it became a tourist hub in the 1800s, locals took advantage of the local myth of how the ammonites were snakes with their heads chopped off and carved snake heads into the ammonites to sell.
I got one when I visited Whitby from fossils-uk.com.

Oh hello,
Hot tip from your neighbor archivist, there is no greater lie than “don’t worry, I’ll remember”
No. You won’t. Write down who is in that photo. Note the date and event. Put a year on everything.
“But it is -insert person and/or event here- there is no way I will forget!”
1) WRONG. Years get murky, relationships fade, people change, family members look alike (especially when very old or very young)
2) even if you somehow do, the next generation has no idea who what where when or why.
This message brought to you by a very tired archivist who has spent days trying to find and ID 3 photographs at work and also deal with all her grandmother’s photos when her children can’t name their aunts and uncles let alone cousins.
I say this not just as an archivist, but as someone who regularly has to look up when she got married because I can’t remember.
(I got that engraved inside my spouse’s ring for a reason!)
people online talk so much about hating babies and kids but in "the meatspace" people LOVE babies. hang out with a baby and you will see so many people staring at you with big smiles and waving at you and going "that baby is SO cute" and generally being pleasant unprompted. the lady at the vietnamese place just now gave us like three extra soup spoons because my niece loves those spoons but kept dropping them on the floor and the lady kept giving us more with a massive smile on her face. on our walk today a bunch of construction guys waved and grinned at her the whole time we walked by, and when we passed by an elementary school a little girl said "your baby's really sweet!" babies are not balls of irritation and hatred they are beacons of joy and kindness actually and they bring out the best in strangers. whenever im out with her we have multiple positive interactions with strangers who are so happy to see her. or maybe it's just that my baby niece is the cutest most wonderful baby in the world :]
