~A scene when the guys first found out that Gouenji has a crush~
Endou, who was talking with the other guys who had their topics jump from the managers to Natsumi to crushes and teasing, turned to Gouenji who was putting on his uniform. They were at the club room and had just finished morning practice, and having boys’ privacy gave them the liberty to talk about girls.
“Gouenji,” Endou called, buttoning his uniform. “Do you have a crush on someone?”
“You’re asking the Gouenji, Endou?” Kazemaru asked, his eyebrow arching. Kidou was putting away his blue cape, his lips smirking at Endou even asking such a question.
Gouenji just closed his locker and turned to him, incredulous. “Why do you ask?”
“I’m just wondering.” Endou had put away his goalie uniform and slammed his locker closed. “I don’t find you the type to like someone, though.”
Silent, Gouenji turned to grab his school bag leaning against the tires Endou used for training, turned to them, paused for a while. Then he said, “I do.”
Gouenji was sure he saw Endou mimicking the OoO emoji. Kidou and Kazemaru jerked their heads at him at the same time, their eyes wide at his unexpected response.
Out of nowhere, Kabeyama and Kurimatsu joined them, appearing behind Gouenji. “Who is it? Who is it?!”
Domon and Ichinose came too. “What class is she from?”
Then Max. “Is she even in Raimon?”
Then Handa. “Maybe one from the managers!”
And lastly, Megane. As usual, he did not join the conversation–or interrogation, for that matter–without a full-on “analysis”. Pushing his glasses up his nose bridge, he stood in the middle of the crowd, facing Gouenji. “Considering his former issue in Kidokawa and the pressure for being a Captain as a first year, it’s highly unlikely he’d have any time to give a second look at anyone. In Raimon, however, our current progress in the Football Frontier earned him a lot of fans, both girls and boys, inside and outside Raimon.”
“So…” Endou said. “What are you saying, Megane?”
“I’m saying,” Megane said, his eyes still intently at Gouenji, “that Gouenji’s crush is most likely inside Raimon, and perhaps most likely one of the managers. Because, according to my observations, the most socialization he does is in the club, not in class.”
The others did an “oooohh” at Megane’s explanation, Kidou raising an eyebrow for the lack of logic in the argument, which did not bother Gouenji at the slightest. He only stared at the proud four-eyes, then glanced at his watch when Kurimatsu spoke from behind him.
“Give us a clue-deyansu, Gouenji-san!”
“Yeah, Gouenji,” Handa said. “Give us a clue.”
Gouenji placed his hands inside his pockets, glancing at them one by one. Upon landing his attention on the last person, the person to ever ask such an odd question, he closed his eyes and said, “She’s beautifully weird,” then left the club room.
Everyone left inside did not move even after Gouenji closed the door. Their eyes stared at where he had been, then to one another.
“Someone from the managers is weird?” Endou asked.
Kazemaru covered his mouth. “Do not say that in front of Natsumi.”
