Imp. Find me on AO3: archiveofourown.org/users/impishtubist

Welcome!

(I am making a second attempt at a pinned introduction post for new followers, shhhh none of you saw the first one from months ago.)

1) You can find most of my stories on AO3.

2) However, I have tons of story scraps, snippets, outtakes, and abandoned fics in my writing tag here on Tumblr. Check that out for content not found on AO3.

3) You can also find me under this username on old fandom sites like fanfiction.net, LiveJournal, Dreamwidth, etc. I don’t update those sites anymore, but they’re there if you’re interested for some reason.

4) I don’t know what else to put here. Ask box is open for anyone who wants to ask me random things or prompt me something.

Anonymous asked:

why do you write Sirius as taller when it 's canon that Remus is ?

  1. Canon can go fuck itself with a rusty spoon.
  2. Where the fuck does it say in canon that Remus is taller? Show me the passage, Anon.
  3. For that matter, where the fuck does it say in canon that Sirius has grey eyes? Yeah, that's what I thought. I'm giving him blue eyes in my next fic now. Die mad about it.
  4. Remus is 5' 4" now in this WIP of mine. Die mad about that too.

Give Harry to me, Hagrid, I’m his godfather, I’ll look after him.

Ah, let me count the ways in which fandom interpretation of Sirius Black infuriates me. One day, I’ll write an essay, but as I don’t currently have the time to pen a thousand-page epic -

This is literally the moment that possibly defines Sirius the most, and it’s the one that everyone forgets.

Everyone knows the story - Sirius arrived at Godric’s Hollow, saw the Potters’ bodies, and tore after Peter Pettigrew in a blind, thoughtless, reckless rage.

Um, except he didn’t.

He tried to take care of Harry. He tried to get Hagrid to give Harry to him, and when Hagrid refused, he tried to argue.

What, you think he was planning to tear after Peter with Harry tucked under one arm? Of fucking course not. It didn’t change that he wanted to kill Peter, that he probably would be happy to find and kill him later - but he wasn’t planning to murder anyone, to throw his life away, to even sit in a dark corner and drink himself to death while holding a goddamn baby.

This is Sirius’s godson, the person he promised his dead best friend he’d protect, and whom he now loved more than anyone alive. He’s asking for the kid so he can take the kid, and that means devoting himself to a lifetime of raising, nurturing, being patient, being parently, changing nappies and nursing fevers and a million other VERY. RESPONSIBLE. THINGS.

Do we know how good Sirius would have been at doing that? Hell no.

But what we do know is the most important thing - that he was willing to try.

Hagrid cites Dumbledore’s orders and won’t give Harry up.

So it’s really only once everything is really gone - that Sirius’s responsibilities and attachments are nearly all truly severed - that he decides there’s nothing else to do but go after Peter.

I’m sorry but… @gallifrey1sburning this was too good to leave in the notes. Literally this:

And that’s the tea.

My thoughts under the cut here.

@lunapwrites I have made a very similar list about the horrible depiction of father figures/male mentors! Not only does she treat them badly but most of the ones Harry is close to die.

To your list I will add:

Dumbledore himself, obviously created to assume a father figure role in Harry’s life, but uses it to manipulate and endanger him. But he’s good, so we are supposed to like him.

Vernon: needs no explanation (also the fatphobia in this one)

Hermione’s dad: no first name, she acts like he doesn’t really exist, then he gets obliviated

Hagrid: good intentions, but regardless put them in danger several times (follow the spiders, grawp, dragons, blast ended skrewts).

Frank longbottom: tortured to insanity

Snape’s dad: abusive to his mother (eileen prince)

Xenophillius: conspiracy theorist, wears a terrorist symbol to a wedding, tries to hand them over to the death eaters

Also, Arthur is kind to Harry but Harry never really gets close to him. Their biggest interaction is when Harry saves him after he gets bitten by nagini, which makes Harry feel GUILTY because he saw it throuh nagini’s POV.

So yeah, Sirius is the best one and of course Harry went to save him when he thought Sirius was in danger. And its no wonder Sirius went there to save Harry, he probably didn’t trust Dumbledore for shit.

I can't believe all we have of this season of good omens so far is a 1 minute 40 second trailer and in that 1 minute 40 seconds TWO of the most widely accepted fanon tidbits that have been talked about for literal YEARS were confirmed: 1) that crowley is a needy little clingy girlfriend who will show up at any hour of the day and demand aziraphale's undivided attention and get VERY upset when she is not given it, and 2) that aziraphale invited crowley into the bookshop after they gave him a lift from the church in 1941 and they fucked nasty right there on the floor
