The US Healthcare system is so fucked.
I'm going to rant here for a second:
My grandfather, who has a pace maker, NEEDS heart medication to stay alive. The prescription is $600 A MONTH. He gets discounted medication through a program that he found, which is great, but come to find out his prescription expired and instead of reaching out to him before hand he didn't find out until he went to get his meds and couldn't afford them.
Also he had been having pain in his mouth for the last month and the dentist couldn't figure it out so he just prescribed him a pain medication/nerve block. The dentist didn't bother to check what other meds my grandfather was on and it caused a reaction.
So that reaction on top of him being out of his other medication for 3 weeks caused him to have a stroke.
IT TOOK MY GRANDFATHER HAVING A STROKE TO GET THE HEART MEDICATION HE NEEDS BUT OTHER DOCTORS ARE PRESCRIBING PAIN MEDS AND IT GETS COVERED NO PROBLEM. I hate our health care.
