"Nonsense!" said the Little Red Hen. "You, Horse, helped move around the stones that built my oven. You, Dog, kept me safe while I worked. And you, Pig, are raising a new generation of Farm Animals, who will too contribute to our Farm one day. You've all helped me so much by simply being you."

"Besides," the Little Red Hen added. "I couldn't possibly eat all the loaves on my own, most of them would go to waste. Come, eat with me."

And so the Little Red Hen and the Farm Animals ate the bread together. And all saw their own, and each other's, worth.

Hey non-Jewish leftists and progressives who consider yourselves allies to Jews or, at a minimum, not antisemitic: now is an exceptionally great time to step up

This is shockingly similar to Henry Ford — i.e. an automotive mogul seen as an innovator in the general public uses his fortune and outsized influence to establish a large media presence and spread antisemitism.

There are some important distinctions, but nothing that makes me feel better about the situation.

1. At its height, Henry Ford’s publication, “The Dearborn Independent,” had a circulation of 900,000. The largest circulation in America at the time was 950,000.

2. Ford marketed explicit antisemitism, which eventually led to the downfall of his publication — you’ve probably heard of “The international Jew” and “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”

3. Ford was eventually forced to publicly apologize after he made the mistake of attacking Jewish attorney Aaron Sapiro for more than a year, until Sapiro eventually sued Ford for libel (i.e. he fucked around and found out lol). Ford eventually lost the case and was forced to publicly apologize (his apology was written by associates and his signature on it was reportedly forged). The magazine was shut down soon afterwards.

Despite everything, Ford was able to secure his position in history, albeit with some, um, unfortunate footnotes and the occasional caveat being mentioned.*

All in all, this feels very similar to Trump copying David Duke’s run for the Louisiana legislature, but that’s a story for a different day.

endlessly delicious and also fucking devastating to me that aziraphale and crowley's insatiable all-consuming need to protect each other at all costs is the exact thing that is tearing them apart

like. they are both victims. we know this. THEY know this. but their inability to see each other as anything else is literally the exact reason they are never going to see eye to eye. even when they're fully aware of the fact the other reciprocates their feelings. crowley is protective, so protective, to the point it makes him incredibly small-minded and so quick to anger, literally a hairline trigger for blowing up at aziraphale when he senses he's put himself at any kind of risk, and it makes aziraphale feel small and stupid and only pushes him away further. his immediate response of closing ranks around them both the second he deems them being in danger only makes aziraphale feel suffocated, in the same way that heaven has been breathing down his neck for thousands of years, and it frustrates him to no end, and it's exactly how metatron managed to get his foot in the metaphorical door of aziraphale's desires at the end of this season. and aziraphale is so convinced of crowley's intrinsic goodness, so resentful of his fate on his behalf, that he literally cannot just take crowley for who he is. he's so certain that he can make things better for crowley that he's blind to the reality that all that would make crowley's circumstances better is being loved by aziraphale in the pure and simple way he's convinced is impossible. his saviour complex only makes crowley feel more broken, more undesirable, than he ever would have done had aziraphale just hated him like he was supposed to. the exact ways in which they love each other so desperately is precisely what's pulling them further apart. they just cannot stop trying to save each other. and in doing so they're ensuring that they never will. and ok, this is presumptuous as all hell, but maybe some time spent as enemies, true enemies, will be exactly what they need to finally see each other at face value. not a problem for them to solve, but a person with whom they can weather anything that may come their way, for better, or for worse. and they will face it together, instead of trying to just shoulder it all for the other out of some fucked up obligation born from guilt or pity.

She was a small child. But she is a stand in for everyone who sided with oppression and murder because they didn't recognize their privilege. And, like many fascist governments do, she was used, her story warped, to persuade people to build the wall "to protect our children and future".

Gloreth didn't turn against Nimona because her mom said to. She turned against Nimona because she refused to accept that her community was cruel.

Crowley loves this universe so much. He loves creating a thunderstorm to watch Nina and Maggie fall in love just as much as he loved lighting up the cosmos.

Here's what I think:

I think Aziraphale doesn't realize this. Whether it's because of his Religious Trauma or the fact that Crowley doesn't let people see him happy/excited, Aziraphale doesn't believe a demon like Crowley is capable of feeling love for the universe. This is in part why Aziraphale wanted Crowley to become an angel again, because he desperately wants Crowley to be happy in the way that he was when Aziraphale met him. But the thing is, he can be, and often is- he just DOESN'T SHOW AZIRAPHALE THAT SIDE OF HIM. So Aziraphale thinks that Crowley will only be "happy again" as an angel, and Crowley is misinterpreting this as Aziraphale thinking that Crowley isn't GOOD enough. Side note though: Aziraphale knows Crowley can be happy (like when he's rescuing Aziraphale), but he hasn't seen that unfiltered JOY from Crowley in so long. He has a lot of unpacking to do before he understands that angels aren't the only occult creatures who can be joyful and content.

Miscommunication is a theme of this season. At the start of the season, they have communication difficulties. "I think your exactly means something different than my exactly", etc. The conversation they had in the last ten minutes should have been twenty different conversations, but they were speedrunning it all because of the circumstances they were under, and their overwhelming fear of being vulnerable with eachother in that way. A love confession was always doomed to be very difficult between them, because of the nature of their relationship, 6000 plus years of not communicating, and a lack of letting their walls down to let eachother grow together.

In season three, they both need to realize so much shit.

The important thing to hold on to is that neither of them have malicous intentions towards eachother. they love eachother so god-damned much, they love EARTH so god-damned much, but no matter if you're a 10 year or a 6000 year slowburn, you ain't getting no-where without some fucking character growth.

this analysis is SO GOOD, i don't get why some people are hating on Neil Gaiman for incredible storytelling. as OP told me, stories are MEANT to make you feel something!! if it was all fluff and happiness it would be boring. let's explore relationships and all learn something about the nature of humanity, hmm?

there are no nightingales in Alpha Centauri, and there are no nightingales in Heaven. Crowley wants to run away, and Aziraphale wants to fix a corrupt institution. this fight was necessary to illustrate how MUCH both of them haven’t communicated with each other. what connects them is Earth, and their love and delight in it all. that’s what they need to talk about in season three. that’s the war of Earth against Heaven and Hell. Crowley and Aziraphale love Earth and each other so much, and they will save both Earth and each other. But! They need to actually talk to each other about what it is they want- because it’s fundamentally the same thing: a peaceful life together on Earth without Heaven and Hell constantly mucking things up for no reason at all. they just are both so fearful of losing Earth and each other that both of them are taking the wrong direction to get there. fear not fellow fans, for as we all know, all middle aged gay duos must go through a plot-required breakup before they can be together in a healthy and satisfactory way. the nightingales will sing again.

I saw this fantastic and compelling video from verilybitchie on youtube, articulates much of the unease I felt while watching the film.

The Barbie Movie is a scary example of brand identity. already on social media, brands have personified themselves by posting memes and creating personas through the calculated efforts of social media teams. this movie takes it a step further, fully realizing their brand/product as a real human person with FEELINGS, sob sob sob. When Sasha goes on her "typical Gen-Z" rant during one scene of the film, the focus of the camera is not on Sasha's pain from living in a world that demands inhumanity from its women, but rather our special little Barbie's tears while she's being yelled at by the very girls she stands for!! (this is paraphrased from the video linked above). i have more to say on the subject, but this is all for this post.
