Hot take on Modern/College AU Lord of the Rings

The ring is just car keys and Sam and Frodo are the designated drivers at a party. They have to get all their drunk friends home.

Aragorn is sad because Arwen broke up with him because she’s going home at the end of the semester and he keeps spouting poetry. Everyone just kinda low key ignores him or nods along.

At one point Boromir gets upset because Frodo won’t let him drive. He snaps out of it once Frodo goes to start the car and he thinks that his friend left him behind. Frodo comes back to find him crying and apologizing.

Sam is doing his absolute best to keep Merry and Pippin in check but it isn’t going well. They keep trying to eat things. Most of which aren’t edible. Pippin has started and won multiple fights. Merry isn’t much better.

Boromir doesn’t die, he just get’s tackled by campus security so Merry and Pippin can get away. Tree beard is an Ecology Major who’s a stoner and decides to help out the two hobbits when they get lost in his dorm building.

Eomer is the head of the Riders or Rohan, AKA a biker club. Gimli and Legolas nearly start a fight when they knock over Eomer’s bike. Aragorn manages to talk everyone down from a fight, which then leads to even more rowdy and cheerful drinking.

Gimli and Legolas are playing beer pong and are trying to see who can get the most points. Gimli wins by one and proceeds to pass out. Legolas has to carry him until he comes back around.

Sauron is the most hated professor on campus who’s determined to get them all kicked out of the university because he hates Frodo’s Uncle who was a much loved Professor who retired recently. Also, Bilbo won his car in a drunken bet one night. Sauron is pretty sure Bilbo cheated, he just can’t prove it.

Eowyn and Merry get into a fight with a Fraternity leader who’s known for being a prick and knock him out cold. They ditch him in the front lawn with a sign over his head that reads ‘here lies the witch king’. They go for McDonalds afterwords.

The next morning everyone’s hungover and Aragorn has to go spring Boromir from the drunk tank at the police station. Just another weekend on Tolkien Campus.

(Also, on a side not. Bill the pony is Sam’s dog who he saved at a shelter. Bill likes to ride shotgun with Sam.)

Okay but

Imagine Harry as a giant Johnlock shipper and making it quite obvious she wants them to be together when the three of them are alone. Saying things like “get a room” and “The two of you should hook up!” and John obviously getting irritated and telling her over and over again that he is not gay.

And then, when Harry and John are alone in 221B, Harry talks to him and tries to help him this time around, instead of making fun of him and telling him that it’s quite obvious that John isn’t gay but bi. She then would tell him that it’s normal to be in love with Sherlock and that it is OBVIOUS that Sherlock is in love with him, too. Harry would count all those moments when Sherlock looked lovingly at John, or the times when Sherlock literally died for him, told him that he was important, loved him, ect. John, at this point, just looked away and smiled without denying anything.

  • He would be minding his own business until he heard “Oh yeah I’m with a friend right now” 
  • I don’t think it would register at first but then later it would click in his mind and he would just stare at you like “o_O wdym friend”
  • He would probably get all pouty and would ask you why you called him your friend when he was clearly your boyfriend
  • After you told him it was a prank he would laugh along and bring it up at random times in the future just for the fun of it kabjfn

Johnny

  • Johnny would be sitting next to you doing something like playing a game on his phone, listening to your conversation in bits and pieces. 
  • After he hear you call him as your friend he would literally stop everything he was doing and would look at you with his eyebrow raised
  • He would probably keep staring at you throughout the entire call and would give you an expectant look after you cut the call
  • Once you told him it was a prank he would pretend to get hurt and ignore you but then would start laughing after he saw your confused look 
  • totally does not plan to use that same prank with you in the future

Taeyong

  • Taeyong would get so hurt and would be so confused akjdbfn
  • He would just sit there and go “Me??? Friend???”
  • Once you end the call he would be so pouty
  • After you explained to him that it was a prank he would finally stop pouting but would still pretend to be mad at you just for the fun of it kadnf

  • As soon as you said “I’m with a friend” Yuta would start looking around because he does not believe that you are talking about him
  • Points to himself and raises his eyebrows because wdym friend
  • Once you end the call he would just be staring at you until you gave him and explanation as to why you called him a friend
  • Once you did he would roll his eyes and would laugh but not before plotting to get you back >:)

Doyoung

  • Doyoung would be so confused akjbf
  • As soon as he heard “I’m with a friend” he’d think that you did something like lie to them or ditch a friend to hang out with him
  • But then it would click in his mind later and he would be even more confused 
  • “Why did you call me a friend :(( i’m more than a friend right?” 
  • You’d have to reassure him that it was just a prank and that you didn’t mean anything by it
  • I feel like he would playfully pout at you but then would use it against you to get back at you

  • I feel like Jaehyun would just look at you until you were to explain to him what you meant akbjfn
