ONE STRAW TO END THEM ALL 💪

Americans use 500 million straws every single day with the majority of those ending up in our landfills and oceans. Here at Save The Turtles, we created a simple and effective method of reducing our reliance on plastic with our Collapsible Straw.

While the push continues to change how big restaurant chains and corporations operate, we must be the change we want to see. Without grassroots movements like this, companies would continue to operate under the premise that our oceans don’t matter. Make a small difference in your community by getting a reusable straw.

Here at Save The Turtles, our ultimate goal is to keep our oceans clean. In our pursuit to achieve this, beyond offering our reusable straws, we donate 5% of our profits to Sea Turtle Conservancy.

While straws are just the beginning, our team is hard at work designing more eco-friendly, reusable products to continue the push towards a plastic-free ocean.

So…

Someone (who rolls her eyes everythime kpop comes up in a conversation) today told me that they saw a picture of BTS recently and said to me that “They honeslty look like little girls.”

Um…WHAT!?!?! I didnt know that your appearance can make your music become trash. Anyways…

They continued to tell me how their colored hair and makeup cause them to look like young girls and I tried sooo hard not to snap. I thought that since this is an adult who I was talking to, they would understand (or even considered) how the kpop culture is and the difference in beauty from ours, and be somewhat respectful. BUT NOOO

This happened about a few hours ago and im still pressed! I didnt get a chance to refute or even EXPLAIN their case and defend my boys. So for anyone that needs something to say to others when they claim that male idols look like girls, here’s a list:

  • The makeup you see idols wearing is just that. Stage makeup! Even in America, we have jobs for hair/makeup artist for men and women. Most idols dont where such heavy makeup on the daily and even then, the stage makeup is in correlation with their current concept. Which is control by their management/company.
  • Colored hair shouldnt make someone look more feminine. Anybody can color their hair whatever the heck they want! Like I said before, their appearance is dependent on their concept. I’m pretty sure that idols would love to stay natural and not damage their hair (Just ask Yoongi about having black hair) if they could.
  • Different cultures have different beauty standards. For Americans, men are seen as attractive with facial hair, visible muscles, short hair, strong faces, etc. But we have to recognize that physical beauty isnt universal. If you dont agree with another’s standards, thats fine but be respectful. Dont say that someone looks like the opposite sex/gender!!!

These are just a few things that can help anyone defend their male idols. Try to be respectful in your speech and be slow to speak so you don’t make the situation worse.

I enjoy kpop becuase the music makes me feel happy. I shouldn’t have to see people rolling their eyes when i start to talk about what I enjoy (especially cause their is nothing wrong with enjoying another’s pop culture).

Feel free to add to this list if you have anymore explanations on this topic. Rant over.

In my next life I wish to be born as a rock
