I love you so much. Always and forever. LEGACIES 4.20 ― “Just Don’t Be A Stranger, Okay?”
So, Legacies is over now. Did you watch the finale yet? If so, I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it and also on Legacies in general. What were your highlights, favorite characters and story lines? And how would you rank it compared to TVD and TO? Has it been a satisfying conclusion for you?
I did! I actually watched it live to make sure I didn’t get spoiled. I thought it was okay. It’s obvious it wasn’t meant to be a series finale because it was lacking an emotional punch. I mean, obviously the Klaus/Hope scene was far and away the best part. And it was nice to see Caroline again, but it felt like she was underused (which makes me think Candice probably only had a day to film--but it was weird that she barely interacted with Lizzie and then had that random scene with Cleo. And nothing with Alaric--love him or hate him, that felt strange, too).
But it was still nice to see Kaleb/Cleo and Ben/Jed happy together and preparing for new adventures, Finch and Jed’s moment was excellent. I even enjoyed Landon and Hope. And I loved that MG was afraid of Caroline.
Overall, Legacies was a show that had so much potential and I don’t think it ever really got there. This was far and away its best season so it’s extra disappointing that we won’t get more. They redeemed Aurora! I hated the Tristan/Aurora/Lucien season of TO so much so this really is a major fete in my book. Also, (shallow sidenote) Rebecca Breeds and Luke Mitchell had impressive chemistry for a couple that’s been together so long in real life.
Julie said in an interview that the plan for Season 5 was to do a big time jump and have more Gods stuff. I’m bummed we won’t get to see that because I do think this was the best villain story and I wanted to see where it would go next.
Josie was my favorite character. It sucked that Kaylee wasn’t back for the finale, but I’m happy they made her presence felt. Hope was next, then Lizzie, Cleo, Landon, and Kaleb.
The highlights were this season as a whole, the episode where the girls were pandas, the family road trip episode, Dark Josie!, tribrid Hope, every time a Mikaelson family member returned, and surprisingly. I very much enjoyed Landon and the Necromancer’s time in limbo (especially without Alaric). Kai returning!
In the grand scheme of things, TVD will always and forever be my favorite. I just loved it so much--even the bad seasons. I had a lot of issues with TO, but I loved the Mikaelson family too much to ever stop watching (even when I was furious over Cami’s death and remain furious to this day). TO also had my two favorite ships of the universe: Klamille and Haylijah (and I believe they are all reunited in Peace at this point, finally able to be happy together).
Legacies...I think I would place it above TO as a whole because I enjoyed almost every character, but like I said, a lot of squandered opportunity.
It’s a nice ending because it feels like it will keep going, even though it’s offscreen. But I wish they’d been given more notice to create an even better one. I wanted to sob on my couch like I did when TVD ended.
More Legacies thoughts:
-REBEKAH! Forever favorite. I love that we got to see all sides of her when she played along with Hope’s nonsense. And when she told her Klaus would be ashamed!
-(But she had to know the dagger wouldn’t work, right? They didn’t work on Klaus and he was only a hybrid).
-Her hatred for country music had me rolling She even compelled the girl to hate it too. LMAO.
-NO ONE WARNED ME THEY RECREATED THE “BE STILL” scene! AKA one of the most emotional TVD scenes ever. I was not emotionally prepared for that.
-Okay, FINE. Ted and Landon make a fun duo and I like that he helped his former love find peace.
-I like Clark (and ship him with Hope) and I’m not sorry.
-Of course nature has a balance.
-We all know they’ll find a way to bring Ric and Landon back...but I have no idea what’ll it be other than New loophole!
-Hope’s hair looks amazing.
-The Hosie fan in me loved the little spin move Hope did before she killed Josie in the simulation.
Three more to go and I’ll be caught up.
I’m slowly catching up on Legacies:
-Freya coming to help Hope transition was sooooooo good. I loved her sharing Elijah’s story and promising she wouldn’t lose the piece of herself that’s her mother.
(I understand the real world reasons, but it truly makes zero sense that Freya wouldn’t have stuck around until Hope woke up at the bare minimum).
-How cool was the moment Hope officially became the tribrid?!? The way the sky changed! Such a fantastic effect.
-I’m still Team Hosie all the way, but Finch has grown on me. When she said she would love Josie’s dark side for her? Swoon.
-Why is Ted still a thing? I don’t understand their love for this character...
-I feel like I missed something: why did Ethan get to keep his supernatural powers while everyone else (other than Kaleb) went back to normal? Is it because they’re determined to make him “necessary”?
-Oh! Rafael! It was so great to see him again. I don’t blame Peyton for leaving for a better opportunity, but Raf is such a great character.
(And he has more chemistry with Hope than Landon--her smile when they were reunited...so adorable).
-Next up the episode where my beloved Rebekah returns.
I am bit delayed on the news apparently... haven't been in the tvd/to/legacies fandom for a while - what happened, and what is it about MD's backwards politics and him being hateful?
Most of it is things he's said on Twitter (which have been deleted). A lot of racist comments (think China virus), transphobic, etc. He got into a Twitter fight with Paul during one of the debates in 2020 over politics. MD was very much on the wrong side.
There's also been some stuff about him shipping Alaric/Elena and Alaric/Hope that's super creepy (even if he's joking, it's gross and inappropriate, especially when it comes to Danielle, who was an actual teenager when she started playing Hope). All the actresses (Danielle, Kaylee, Jenny) unfollowed him at one point.
He's also picked fights with fans and threatened them on Twitter (to be fair, one did threaten to publish his address which is 100 percent wrong, but his response was threatening to shoot people).
If you google it, you'll find more of the specifics.
Hi, are you still watching Legacies? If so, I'm very curious what you thought about the newest developments, specifically Trybrid Hope, Rebekah showing up and Alaric dying(?) again? Or if you don't, when and why did you stop? Have a nice weekend!
Hi...it's complicated.
Technically, yes. I just haven't watched a single episode this season. But I plan on it...at some point. That said, I have been thoroughly spoiled (and I'm okay with that).
I'm so happy they finally turned Hope. I figured they were waiting until the end of Season 3 to parallel Elena. But it really dragged knowing it was coming and it still not happening.
I wish Alaric would die for real. And that makes me sad because he used to be one of my favorites, but MD and his backward politics has thoroughly ruined the character. Every time he's onscreen I just think about how difficult it must be for the actors to work with him knowing how hateful he is.
I heard Freya came back, too! That makes me happy (and want to watch...soon, maybe?). But obviously I was thrilled when I heard they got Claire. Their scenes looked great in gifs.
I'm also hoping we may finally get Hosie this season. Fingers crossed.

NBC’S SUPERSTORE (2015 – 2021)
Attention shoppers, please bring your final purchases up to checkout, ‘cause this store is about to close forever. On behalf of everyone here at Cloud 9, I’d just like to say, BUH-BYE! Sorry, that shouldn’t be the last thing I say. Twenty years of announcements. I mean, I’m not a sentimental guy; that’s not my thing. But it did just occur to me that this is… this is the end. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s a job. I mean, if jobs were fun, they wouldn’t pay us to do it, but occasionally there were moments that weren’t so bad. Memories are the only things I can remember right now. You know, most jobs suck ninety-nine percent of the time, so you really… you really gotta enjoy those moments that don’t. Those bits of fun you have during downtime. Or an interesting conversation with a co-worker. Or something happens that you can laugh about later. Or you do something that you’re actually proud of. If you’re lucky, maybe you even get to be friends with a co-worker or two along the way. Not sure what else you could want at a job. At any rate, thank you for shopping with us. Cloud 9 is now closed.
Are you still watching Legacies? How did you like the Musical episode?
I loved the musical episode. It was so fun and nostalgic and my TVD loving heart was so fulfilled and happy. Plus, the Doppelganger number was hilarious.
As far as the rest of the show...UGH. I wish I could quit it, but I’ve come too far in this world to give up. But I pretty much hate every single storyline. The last episode made me despise Hope. Hope! This feels like an actual crime. Yet here we are.
Everything is repetitive. Landon dying and needing saving every other episode. The prison world being the solution to everything. The Necromancer is a one-note villain who should have lasted a single episode. I never liked the monster of the week format. Having Josie at a separate school is pointless.
The show has great characters (in theory) and terrific actors and terrible, terrible, terrible writing.
(Sorry for the rant!)
I really thought Bridgerton was going to be chaste
