WHERE'S MY PEANUT BUTTER JELLY SAMMICH
*"stress dream" = dreams you get when under large amounts of stress or anxiety irl, that may or may not relate to your current situation irl.
That gazebo is so fucked
Are you sure gazebo is the correct word?
Are
you
sure?
idk why you’re confused, that poor gazebo needs help
This has hit my dash three times… that final reblog made it worthy.
I only liked this for the gif
You cannot call for help, you must face the gazebo alone
~if you face the dread gazebo, you will do it on your own🎶~
[image id: two images to describe. first, starting this post, is a gif of a cheetah chasing a gazelle, from 4gifs.com . Subtitle reads: Cheetahs turn quickly by rotating their tails which cancels rotational inertia and minimizes torque. second image: a hand-drawn image of a cheetah sinking its teeth into the roof of a gazebo. end id.]
Good for you I guess

The Iranian Regime is going to execute rapper Toomaj Salehi for supporting protests of Jina Amini’s murder by the regime in his songs.
Iranian activist Elica Le Bon says, “Iranians in the diaspora picked up on the fact that the regime tends not to execute people who become known to the international community. We have seen many examples of prisoners that were either released on bail or had their sentences commuted through our “say their names to save their lives” campaign on social media, using hashtags to garner attention for their causes, and even before social media existed, through getting the stories of political prisoners to international media outlets. Once reported on, and once the eyes shift to the regime and the reality of its pending brutality, realizing that the action is not worth the repercussions, we have seen them back down and not execute. For that reason, this is part of an urgent campaign for readers to talk about Toomaj as much as you can, using the hashtag #FreeToomaj or #ToomajSalehi. Every comment makes a difference, and if we were wrong, what did we lose by trying?”
LET'S SPREAD THIS LIKE WILDFIRE
It is very rare that posting actually is activism.
But in this case, getting this man's name trending on multiple platforms could literally save his life.
Exactly this ^^^
This is one of the very rare cases where the only thing we are being asked to do is make something go viral.
I've found a number of recent articles about this guy's situation from publications around the world: here's hoping all the attention does something. And if you want to check out his music, in case, IDK, YT numbers from around the world might also help in some small way, though I don't know how that would work, here you go.
deeply intrigued by people choosing other. Like I added it but it really is a yes/no type question; who's out there pondering who's out there saying it depends
Harry Potter has a lot of hype of being the best magic young adult book out there. And while it is good, there are better ones. Also, JKR is trash. So.
Tamora Pierce is an amazing author. I still read her books as an adult, and I love them. Her books feature strong female characters, interesting and nuanced side characters, well-written antagonists, queer and poc side and main characters, and wonderful world building.
The ones more similar to Harry Potter are the lesser-known Circle of Magic series. First book is Sandry's Book. This series revolves around four children who discover they have magic that revolves around mundane/natural things: weaving, plants, smithery and weather. They all find themselves in the same house in Winding Circle Temple, where they find teachers and learn to control their magic, while dealing with various problems.
The adults are responsible, good teachers. Two (maybe three) of the four kids are poc. Three out of four teachers are poc and I'm pretty sure all of them are queer. The setting is not European, it has a Mediterranean/Turkey vibe.
Please read these books. Give them to your children, instead of Harry Potter. You won't regret it.
oh are we reliving my childhood? okay! I'll add:
Enchanted Forest Chronicles series by Patricia C. Wrede. Princess runs away to hang out with a dragon, Morwen is best no-nonsense witch, etc. Funny, charming, and full of found family. Honestly, haven't read this in the last decade, but I do remember reading one of them again in college and being surprised at how well it held up.
before the poll, a quick definition of terms:
"mutual" - you found this post from a mutual (on their blog or your dash) "following" - you found this post from someone you're following, but who isn't following you "random" - you found this by scrolling through someone's blog, who you don't follow. this includes people following you "For You" - you found this on the For You page "recommended" - you found this in a "Check out these blogs" popup, or a "recommended" post when looking at a different post "other" - you found this post some other way. comment how? "reblog ✅" - you're going to reblog, queue, or schedule this post "reblog ❌" - you're NOT going to reblog, queue, or schedule this post
with that out of the way:
It’s almost 1 AM but in the song Belle from Beauty and the Beast the villagers sing “I need six eggs” “that’s too expensive!” and then later in the song Gaston, Gaston says “when I was a lad I ate four dozen eggs every morning to help me get large, now that I’m grown I eat five dozen eggs so I’m roughly as large as a barge” Gaston has been eating dozens of eggs every day for his entire life and is single handedly creating an artificial egg scarcity in the village and driving up egg prices. this economy is in shambles.
because thtey put all their eggs in one baston
So we all know that Tumblr is US-centric. But to what degree? (and can we skew the results of this poll by posting it at a time where they should be asleep?)
Reblog to increase sample size!
i think a loving thing u can do for yourself before a solo trip is to have a line item in ur budget, as critical and untouchable as Plane Tickets and Lodging, called Stupid. this money cannot be used for anything other than bailing u out of stupid situations
sometimes the Stupid moments are obvious like “my designated in-bag phone charger™️ is missing and my phone’s dying” or “i can’t find the goddamn bus stop it’s getting really late”, but sometimes they’re small like “huh the food at this bar i wanted to go to is pretty expensive”. the temptation to do the risky but cheap thing (walking around with a dead phone, getting lost, drinking on an empty stomach) over the expensive but safe thing (buy another charger at the closest shop, call a cab, pay too much for some mid-ass chicken gyozas bc though you do want to try the signature local beer it’s been a minute since you ate anything) is mitigated. it’s fine, u can assure yourself. take it out of the Stupid Budget
Stupid Budget is happening for me on every trip after I found out it was necessary in Beijing when I was 17. no one is immune to Stupid and Stupid tends to progress:
in Beijing I had nearly run out of cash. simple fix, walk to the bank on campus to cash in a traveler's check. except that bank is closed, so i was like, fff, i really need money today, i won't have dinner otherwise, i guess i'll go to another bank. Stupid took the opportunity o descend. i used the very last of my money to take the bus to another bank.
which. was also closed.
so now i'm unable to get home thanks to Lack Of Stupid Budget
i spent the next half hour crying on the front steps of the bank. luckily, some very kind people asked me what's wrong and, when I told them, lent me money for bus fare home
folks
i proceeded to then get on the bus in the wrong direction
(Stupid tends to progress!)
When I realized what I'd done I immediately descended from the bus, looked around for another stop, and realized the Gods of Stupid had rescued me
i had stopped directly in front of an open bank
i took a taxicab home
Create the Stupid Budget
Everybody acts like each new Game Changer is a new level of betrayal and psychological torture from Sam towards his friends. Did we forget that the very first game changer was "Sam wheels out a strange machine and asks the contestants embarrassing personal questions, the veracity of their responses is judged by the Machine. The machine is actually controlled by the contestant's significant others who have been made accomplices. Forcing their loved ones into revealing shameful truths for internet broadcast." And sure, he's gotten a bit more personalized with these, constructing a variety of torture chambers for Brennan Lee Mulligan specifically, putting Grant O'Brien in various situations and then bringing his mother onto the set. But deception and betrayal were part of Game Changer from the beginning. So, when I hear people say "I can't believe Sam WENT THERE" about something all I can do is think to myself He went nowhere He's been there the whole time
