Oh and here's my wall of text. go wild

Just saw a post about creating art and I want to share with y'all the project I've started.

I'm going to sew a life size, 1:1 ratio scale Enderman.

I've worked out all the calculations for the dimensions based off the information given by the the texture and data given by Minecraft.

He will be 290 cm (about 9'6") tall. His arms and legs are all 174 cm (about 5'8") long. The width of both arms and legs is 11.6 cm (about 4.57 inches).

I have all the calculations laid out as well as an estimation of the pattern layout. I'll reblog with the images as soon as I have my notebook handy.

It's going to be a very expensive and time consuming project but I'm really excited to do it :3

As promised, the calculations and rough pattern

I'm thinking about materials I need and here's my list so far

  • 8 yards black fabric
  • Black thread
  • Meter stick
  • Fabric scissors (my old ones got lost in the move)
  • Cutting mat (not too sure on this one because all the pieces are going to be too big to fit)
  • Sewing needle (for the ladder stitch to connect all the limbs to the torso)
  • Two different purple embroidery flosses (I'm planning on getting the eyes custom embroidered)
  • Polyfill (to stuff him)

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them, this is one of my most ambitious projects as an amateur seamstress (/gender neutral) so I really want it to come out well!

It's several months later and let's just say I did a bit of off camera grinding.

BEHOLD

FLESH

Emmet has been stuffed now. The only thing I need to do now is give him a heart. I'm going into town to get a piece of amethyst for that later. I'll post pictures after his heart transplant :3

He's finished. Emmet the 9'6" life size enderman plush. My adult cat, Galaxy, for scale. He's by no means perfect, but he's mine.

it's amazing how ordinary objects can become so significant to only the owner

when my aunt's best friend passed away, my younger brother was four years old. at his funeral, my brother went up to her and gave her a nickel. he told her very solemnly that it would make her feel better. she smiled for the first time in days, and tucked it in her wallet.

when my brother was 22, his best friend passed away unexpectedly. my aunt drove three hours to be there for him at the funeral. she went up to my brother, gave him a big hug, and then gave him a nickel. it was the same nickel; she had kept it in her wallet for 18 years, and now it's on a necklace that he never takes off.

what i'm trying to say is that the love you put into the world will always find its way back to you.

part of being an ally to trans men is not being a dick to cis men for their appearance btw

the short trans men hear you. the trans men with bottom growth—or who are post-phalloplasty—hear your bad jokes about small dicks. the trans men undergoing hrt who are losing their hair hear you talk shit about bald spots.

also, hot take, you should care about not hurting random cis men in addition to not hurting trans men. like just because some guy is being an asshole online doesn’t mean the thousands of young boys reading your comments about someone with their same acne deserved it. i don’t care what your reason is, even if you think someone is bad enough to warrant being bullied, who gave you permission to hurt the innocent bystander?

hey y’all should spread this version bc some people need to hear this context

Sometimes I think I am a normal person and then I see a corner and remember I'm not. Like look at that corner. I want to sit in it. I want my back to a wall . I want to be in a corner

[ID: A picture of a piece of paper reading "Something to think about!

- A cashless society means no cash. Zero. - It doesn't mean mostly cashless and you can still use a 'wee bit of cash here and there'. - Cashless means fully digital, fully traceable, fully controlled. - I think those who support a cashless society aren't fully aware of what they're asking for.

A cashless society means: - No more tuck-away cash for those preparing to leave domestic violence. - No more purchases off marketplace unless you want to risk bank transfer fraud. - No more garage sales. - No more cash donations to hungry homeless you pass. - No more cash slipped into the hands of a child from their grandparent. - No more money in birthday cards. - No more piggy banks or tooth fairy for your child. - No more selling bits and pieces from your home that you no longer want/need for a bit of cash in return. - Less choices of where you purchase based on affordability.

What a cashless society does guarantee: - Banks have full control of every single cent you own. - Every transaction you make is recorded. - All your movements and actions are traceable. /end ID]

if cashless society ever becomes a reality I am going back to bartering

ALSO, with cash, the bank doesn't take a cut of each transaction.

If I have a $20 note, and I trade it for goods and services, the person receiving it gets the full 20 bucks.

But if I pay them 20 bucks via EFT/bank transfer/etc, the bank can take a cut of that $20 as a transfer fee, and the recipient of the money has to wear that cost.

That doesn't happen with cash.

And yeah, it's only a small amount. But it adds up, and personally, I think that banks are making enough profit as is, and I don't support them making money every time I buy so much as an apple from the grocery store.

This is a whole thread of people who have apparently never heard of Venmo or any of the other ways to send small amounts to other individuals without paying a fee.

Missing the point, buddy. What about people who don't have access to that for whatever reason? Elderly, who don't know how it works. People who don't have reliable and instant access to an internet connection - people with outdated phones or data that they've already run out of or etc. Someone with venmo trying to buy something from someone who doesn't have it, or vice versa. One has venmo and one has a different thing, and theyre not compatable. What, you're gonna stand in line at the farmers market and spend ten minutes signing up to a whole new platform, holding everyone in the queue up, just to buy three dollars worth of tomatoes?

Society shouldn't rely on everyone in it having access to one electronic transfer method or another when there is already a universally accessible way of exchanging currency; ie, cash.
