Warning: do not delete any sideblogs
I’ve been seeing it happen to a handful of people, but apparently if you try to delete your sideblog you will end up deleting your MAIN tumblr account entirely as well I don’t know if this is a bug or something, but I’ve seen it happen to ~4 people now, so until this possible bug gets worked out do NOT delete any of your sideblogs unless you want to risk deleting your account entirely
As far as I know, this is not a programming bug. This is bad design resulting in user error. It is safe to delete sideblogs if you do it the correct (non-intuitive) way.
Source: I have successfully deleted multiple sideblogs over the years. And I have unfortunately heard of many people accidentally deleting their whole accounts over the years too. This Tumblr help page corroborates my experience and outlines the proper way to delete a sideblog. (Note the difference between the headers: “Deleting Your Account” vs. “Deleting a Secondary Blog or Leaving a Group Blog”)
The mistake people make:
When you go into the settings of a sideblog, there’s a button at the bottom that says “Delete [sideblog url]”
Of course, people think this button will delete only the sideblog they want to delete. But the thing is, this button shows up at the bottom of every blog in the settings page, and the url displayed will match whatever sideblog you’re looking at. It will still delete your entire account, as intended by staff.
What you need to actually do:
When you want to delete a sideblog, you must go to the members tab of that blog and hit “Delete this blog”

Reasoning:
Sideblogs are meant to have the potential to be shared by multiple users. So the thinking is, if you are one of 5 members of a blog and you want to leave, you go into the members tab and leave. The 4 other people still share the blog without you.
That same line of thought applies when you are the only user. When you are the only owner of a sideblog, you must ‘leave’ the ‘group’ from the members page to delete it. Deleting any blog from the settings page will delete your entire account.
If you’re still unsure, you can follow these steps:
- Create a throwaway account. Not another sideblog, but an entirely new account from scratch with a new email.
- Add this throwaway account as a member to the sideblog (done on the same members page, can be seen in the screenshot above as “Invite to this blog”)
- Once your throwaway is a member of the sideblog, you can leave the sideblog from your main. The throwaway should become admin of that sideblog by default once you leave.
- Now you can test out what it’s like to properly delete a sideblog from a throwaway account. IIRC, you will be prompted to type the url of the sideblog along with your login info (email and password) to confirm.

As you might be aware I have big feelings about all besnouted creatures, but recently something has been grating on me. Sometimes, when people draw a snout animal, they draw the snout as a nose with the mouth as a separate entity underneath. This is a stylistic choice I greatly dislike because a snout or trunk is, by definition
A COMBINATION OF THE NOSE AND UPPER-LIP.
You can see here that the snout is not a separate entity from the mouth in these mammals, but is a fleshy protuberance emanating from the upper jaw.
You can see in this illustration how a more anatomically accurate snout position gives an anthropomorphic pig a degree of charm that an inaccurate snout position does not.
Snout positioning can make or break a character design for me.

This is shockingly similar to Henry Ford — i.e. an automotive mogul seen as an innovator in the general public uses his fortune and outsized influence to establish a large media presence and spread antisemitism.
There are some important distinctions, but nothing that makes me feel better about the situation.
1. At its height, Henry Ford’s publication, “The Dearborn Independent,” had a circulation of 900,000. The largest circulation in America at the time was 950,000.
While it was certainly influential, it wasn’t unmatched. In comparison to Musk’s 140 million followers, Ford reached a relatively small number of people.
2. Ford marketed explicit antisemitism, which eventually led to the downfall of his publication — you’ve probably heard of “The international Jew” and “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”
However, as with most antisemites (on both the right and the left), Musk hides behind the thin veil of dog whistles and oversights, leaving a layer of barely-plausible deniability.
3. Ford was eventually forced to publicly apologize after he made the mistake of attacking Jewish attorney Aaron Sapiro for more than a year, until Sapiro eventually sued Ford for libel (i.e. he fucked around and found out lol). Ford eventually lost the case and was forced to publicly apologize (his apology was written by associates and his signature on it was reportedly forged). The magazine was shut down soon afterwards.
While I can’t predict the future, something tells me Musk’s obfuscations and the current political climate will allow him to continue to operate with impunity. Dancing around the issue allows at the very least for greater longevity of your bigotry (say it with your chest you coward).
Despite everything, Ford was able to secure his position in history, albeit with some, um, unfortunate footnotes and the occasional caveat being mentioned.*
All in all, this feels very similar to Trump copying David Duke’s run for the Louisiana legislature, but that’s a story for a different day.

- Hitler quoted Ford in his infamous book
- Ford was a notorious union buster
- Ford received the Grand Cross of the German Eagle in 1938, the highest honor a foreigner could receive from Nazi Germany, with personal congratulations from Hitler
- After issuing the aforementioned “public apology” in 1927, Ford said that he would like restart the publication of “The International Jew.” In 1940. 13 years later.

- Yes, I’m aware that nobody explicitly praises Henry Ford anymore, and everybody knows what a shithole he was. While “Henry Ford hated the Jews” is a common refrain, specific knowledge of his hatred is lacking, and I think it’s important to point to explicit hatred in the past, because hatred is normally hidden nowadays and needs to be identified outside of the group receiving the hatred.

Was talking with my therapist about how I get myself some sense of achievement in everyday life, and I told her that I occasionally give myself little secret self-appointed tasks, where the only goal is to manage to achieve some completely random, pointless, arbitrary goal without anyone else finding out or asking me about the whatever weird shit I am currently in the middle of doing. There's no punishment for failing to do so, I don't dread any kind of an outcome, nor is there any other reward for succeeding the task, than managing to succeed in it - a little challenge with no other goal or purpose than being a little challenge.
She said that this is very interesting, and asked me to name an example of one of these quests that I've given myself. I froze, drawing blank, since my current arbitrary goal is to see how long I can go on without having to explain to her what furries are.

I hate how much people's stigma of use disorder and addiction prevents us from having decent things. Like I'd LOVE for people to not get bloodborn disease from both re-used and discarded needles. But when the subject of a needle exchange came up recently, the people I was with (not friends) wouldn't stop focusing on how it's "enabling" to have a system where people have to trade their used needles for new ones because addicts get to have access to fresh clean methods of use rather than having to share or re use needles.
From what I know about the cost of doing business and the cost of medicine in the US, a single case of HIV prevented would likely save a year's worth of operating costs. That's not even taking into account the value of human life, imagine if addiction and use disorders didn't usually mean hitting "Rock Bottom" or dying of overdose because your cousin or brother or ex or whatever was able to get help when they needed without stigma and the social safety net prevented them from all the infections and worse that can come from an unsafe supply or consumption method. Yeah, they'd still have a problem, but it could be addressed before people die from it. I know this is America and bootstraps and choice and all that, but I also know you're not supposed to sentence people to death without a fair trial either. And right now, the way we're treating addicts is a death sentence. Just a long, slow, drawn-out death sentence.
