The characters I'm trying to write about are fairly new to being in a romantic relationship so they're a little bit shy with the physical affection thing, but it's not that they're adverse to it (because they've hugged and stuff before, but it wasn't something they did all the time.) Like they want to show physical affection more regularly, but to them it seems a bit weird to just do something out of the blue (hence the excuses lol)

I have a few ideas for making excuses to get close for you.

Seeking out physical affection

  • comparing hand-sizes to hold their hand against the other's and then just holding hands
  • fixing the other's hairstlye to let their hands run through their partner's hair
  • acting like they're cold to have an excuse to cuddle or share clothes or blankets
  • grabbing each other's hands in crowds or when crossing the street to "be safe"
  • brushing their arm against the other's, hoping the other would finally catch their arm and hold it close
