He/Him. Gay 🏳️‍🌈. 東方Project/OUAT/RWBY (fairgame stan)/TOH. Too much of a nerd to be cool. Cats are the reason why I still have hope in humanity. I'm also interested in photography.

Just thinking about the PLETHORA of people who bashed anyone who shipped Qrow and Clover. It is completely unfair to label this—

As flirting but this—

As a “joke” when they literally did the exact same thing. The homophobia was really homophobing in Volume 7 and I will not let any one of you forget it.

wish list for people who don’t want anything

aka possessions which are just possessions, but which have noticeably improved my quality of life: for when people ask you “what do you want for your birthday/Christmas/graduation” and you instantly transform into St Francis and pledge fealty to Lady Poverty because your mind went blank

  • nice. new. sheets. I cannot emphasize this one enough. if you’re still using the same sheets you had in college, you should probably get new ones. get yourself some 100% bamboo rayon sheets—they’re silky and perfect for summer and great for sensitive skin! or, if you’re cold all the time, flannel sheets!
  • kitchen knives. or even just one really good kitchen knife.
  • new curtains—blackout if you are a creature of the night like I am
  • fleece lined anything, but especially sweatpants and hoodies. wool lined socks are also good. if you don’t have the option of coming home after work and putting on an entire outfit that is loose and fuzzy, you should change that, because you deserve that option.
  • cookie sheets with a layer of air between the top and the bottom. the bottoms of your cookies will never burn again.
  • kitchen scale!!! no more leveling off flour with a knife and getting it all over the table!! now all your measuring is just shoveling stuff in and out of bowls like you’re at the beach. baking is both more accurate and also way more fun.
  • coffee bean grinder. if you want to upgrade your coffee experience, this is a great one-time purchase. just-ground beans have a much better flavor than pre-ground.
  • CDs!! ask for a gift card and expand your physical music collection! or a collection of the DVDs for your favorite show!

A few more things!

Good luggage. Whether it’s a suitcase or a duffel bag or even just packing cubes, it’s all helpful!

Good art. If it’s someone you trust, you can ask them to surprise you with a piece they like, otherwise you can have a few back up suggestions of ideas (I saw a framed piece of just the hands from Michaelangelo’s The Creation of Man and have not forgot about it since)

Good good pillows or fluffy blankets to go along with those nice new sheets from above

Office supplies. Pens, markers, sharpies. All the sharpies.

Coffee travel mugs (can one have too many?). If they say they still want more ideas, also ask for a bag of their favorite beans/tea

Look around your house, what do you have that is still from college? Ask for a better one of those.

And for the future planning, especially if you’re me and forget things: make a document of “things I’d like but don’t want to buy for myself frivolously” and then select items from that for a wishlist.

Welcome twitter users fleeing the absolute cesspool that twitter is going to become as Musk gets his way with his awful ideas! Things are better here, and hey, if you're an old user coming back, they've actually improved shit!

Here's a list of important notes for tumblr usage:

  • Don't censor words, particularly trigger warnings. Tumblr has a very functional blacklist (found in your settings) that can filter by post content and/or tags. But the word needs to actually be present for the filter to work. Censoring words like r*pe is actively harmful to people attempting to avoid those topics.
  • Use tags liberally, you have as many as you want, but don't tag unrelated shit. You'll get reported for spam really fast if you do.
  • Set an avatar and reblog things, otherwise you look like a bot.
  • You are not obligated to have your real name anywhere in your blog/bio/etc. Most people here use handles.
  • You can turn your ask box & anons on or off if you are experiencing any kind of harassment. You can also turn off replies on your posts, and turn off reblogs if you need to.
  • Tumblr has keyboard shortcuts on desktop. You can find them listed under the blog/account menu. Go learn them, they make life so much easier.
  • Reblog things. Seriously. Also set your dash in chronological order. You can maintain several blogs if need be, but reblogging things is normal, expected, and how you pass along stuff you enjoy.
  • The majority of people aren't reading your card/dni/blog bio before they reblog stuff. Posts get passed around and the OP often isn't the focal point of the post. Learn to live with it.
  • Fic writers: you have unlimited words, do not post fics as images.
  • Reblogs with comments/tags are encouraged. It's not like twitter's QRTs. The OP will see everything there. Know that before you comment.
  • You have a queue. This means you can set posts up ahead of time to run while you're busy. You can also completely ignore this and just spam your follows whenever you're online. Both are very commonplace
  • It's not weird to go through someone's blog and reblog old posts. That's actually very normal. If you add /chrono to the end of a tumblr tab then you can view an
  • "Spam" liking and reblogging isn't a thing that is a problem. This is invented by people I do not understand. If someone claims this is a problem, they can learn how to turn off or manage their notifications.
  • The only form of promotional posts that tumblr has is "blaze". There is no ad targeting or any kind of invasions of privacy with blaze. You just get subjected to w/e someone wants to show you. If you want to give tumblr some money to help the company keep going and provided an alternative to twitter, it's not a bad way to do it. You can make people look at cat photos.
  • Also, we have fun colors here. Plus actual formatting ability. Use it!
  • People lie on here for fun. Don't accept everything you see at face value, check the reblogs/replies or google something if you're skeptical! Critical thinking is good!
  • Above all else, be chill, use your block button if you need to, and have fun.

Addition for the fic writers: please please please add the read more option on your post. On desktop it's the orange squiggly lines that come up when you click on the textbox.

On mobile I believe it's :: readmore :: (without spaces).

The read more option shortens your post, putting whatever you have under the read more hidden until someone clicks on it. This is super helpful for mobile users if you have a long post so they don't have to scroll forever past your thing.

Quick correction: it's :readmore:, with just one colon on each side instead of two. It looks like this:

We should all seek justice, justice for all.

I love this, have never seen it with four panels…

It is worth noting that not all problems are 100% socially constructed, and therefore this conception of justice is not always an option. For example, you can strive to reduce disability stigma, and you can give the disabled better healthcare, but people with incurable denegenerative diseases who experience chronic pain and deteriorating health are still going to experience unfair suffering, and the only way to truly fully "remove the cause of the inequality" is to literally invent a miracle cure. I'm reminded of that post talking about how X-Men is the perfect metaphor for leftist infighting, like that scene from the movie (was it X2? X3?) where Storm says "we don't need a cure; there's nothing wrong with us" to Rogue, the girl who literally can't touch people without killing them.

Which is to say, I'm concerned people will look at this graphic and leave with the takeaway that pursuing equity is a waste of time, and the only thing that really matters is eradicating the root cause. Because as important as it is to, for example, fund scientific research to find a cure chronic fatigue syndrome, it is just as important, perhaps more important, to make sure that, until such time as we are able to discover that cure, we ensure people with chronic fatigue syndrome are getting as much support as it is possible to give them now. My point is, it's not a matter of equity vs. justice. Pursuing justice is not better and more ethical than pursuing equity. We need to work towards solving the root problem, but that can take a really long time, time people who are suffering don't necessarily have, so we also need to improve quality of life for people who can't afford to wait that long. We need equity AND justice. We need to strive for BOTH.

This.

Sometimes that fence is needed.

The fence is not always a systemic injustice intended to cause pain and suffering...

Maybe the fence is there for ecological reasons. Maybe it's there for zoning laws. Maybe the fence is a support system for another marginalized part of the community, even though it is accidentally harming a different part.

Tearing down the fence is not always the only answer.

Equity AND justice together are the solutions we need to strive for.

I agree with literally everything op is saying and I don't want to detract from their point but this website here, specifically for mobile games (though they intend to eventually branch out to other types) is creating a database that flags those exact types of predatory things. It also flags games as safe, so if you want to look for safe mobile games this is an invaluable resource.

https://www.darkpattern.games/

It also has definitions, explanations, and examples of all the different types of psychological manipulations games pull on the website so if anyone ever tries to give you "just don't spend money, it's easy" you can send them this

“only karens ask for refunds” is pro-corporation propaganda. if they don’t give me what i want they’re giving me my money back and that doesn’t make me an angry middle-aged karen harpy, you’re just cucked by stupid reddit memes

Really though, remember the woman who sued McDonald’s because their coffee was hot and everyone took the piss out of her and a bunch of other people who sued corporations for a “silly” reason and then it turned out most of them were right and entirely harmed by the company and they were just turned into a joke by the company propaganda machine?

Imo the current obsession with mocking anyone who asks for a refund, returns something or god forbid wants to talk to a manager is just the second version of this. Companies will cut corners wherever they can and mock you when you complain.

Yesterday my pizza order got to me cold and missing my soda. When I asked about both from the driver he said he couldn’t go back for the 2L because he was technically a door dash driver. I called the store and it turns out when they’re slammed (which they had been), they get door dash drivers to help with delivery to help them catch up.

So I spoke to the manager, assured her that I wasn’t angry, just kind of frustrated - part of why the pizza was cold was that door dash drivers don’t have the heat retaining delivery bags the actual delivery employees of the pizza place get, and because he wasn’t an employee of the pizza place the driver wouldn’t be going back to the pizza place and couldn’t get my soda.

And the manager said she’d get her first driver going in my direction to bring by the soda, and offered to give me a credit for the pizza being cold, and we pleasantly ended the conversation.

Because it’s okay to say “hey, this isn’t what I was told I’d be getting”, you just have to be polite and reasonable about it.

This. Vast difference between “having a problem and politely but firmly expecting that they provide what’s been paid for” and “abusing some underpaid customer-facing employee who is neither at fault for the situation or able to fix it.”
